This looks fun, let me join in! :xmas:

If Moriarty's holding the mistletoe, does that mean he messaged Sherlock to meet him under the mistletoe, or did Sherlock send the message and Moriarty just found the mistletoe and Sherlock's about to pop out from somewhere?

Sherlock put it on Twitter, Moriarty read it and thought 'oh hell yea.' He's broken into 221B and is waiting for Sherlock to get home.

I don't know if he'll be pleased or not when he sees Sherlock's jumper.

Answer to Sherlock, Pseud. He is waiting under the mistletoe.

Well, if you insist.

Artémis and JP, you reminded me of the time I was single and far from family. Other advantages and drawbacks, other time of life. Enjoy everybody, anyway!

I need this one.

If I were to see those words any other time of year without the pics, all I would know is that it was probably Welsh.

Same here! PC or not, it's festive, it's holiday.

Merry Christmas! Two years ++ here I feel that I'm closer to you than many of people that I know. Therefore I think I should drug you guys or at least pile potatoes on your laptop. If you are using desktop, means I need to buy more potatoes.

It's not easy to find that many potatoes at this time though, so let's go and giggle at the crime scene. Wait, it's no good isn't it. Oh oh! Let's jump from roof to roof!!

Why is it that saying "Merry Christmas" is supposedly non-PC, yet nobody seems to get upset if they're wished a "Happy Hanukkah" (even though they're not Jewish)? I just don't get it. Good wishes are good wishes, as far as I'm concerned!

I agree!

Me too. And I didn't know saying it wasn't PC. What's wrong with Merry Christmas? I mean, yeah, that one time I said it to a colleague who wears a hijab, that wasn't one of my best moments. But she didn't seem offended. In fact, I think some muslims actually celebrate Christmas... Anyway, yeah. Good wishes are good wishes. Same goes for praying imo - as long as it isn't used as code for f*cough, I say thank you to any offers of prayer on my behalf regardless to what deity.

Yup. I figure it never hurts to get a little extra help.

I assume that the rationale behind the anti-Merry-Christmas "rule" is that saying it supposedly assumes the other person is a Christian and of course a lot of people aren't, so therefore saying it to random people is supposedly Christo-normative (or whatever that word might be), which supposedly marginalizes non-Christians, and is therefore supposedly offensive to them. I have a sneaky feeling, though, that a good many of the anti-Merry-Christmas brigade are not Hindus or Muslims or Jews themselves, but rather are being offended on behalf of those who are, working on the theory that those people *ought* to be offended.

In my opinion, if we're gonna live in a pluralistic society, we'd better stop being offended by each other's differences. And stop telling each other when to be offended.

Yep, I have similar suspicions about who is actually being offended/worried about being offensive.

Hm... I am not Christian either. My parents wanted me to decide myself whether I wanted to be baptized at the age when everyone in this Protestant area goes to confirmation class and I said no. Yet I celebrate Christmas, Easter and Pentecost. It's just something I grew up with and I like it.

Should I be offended at Merry Christmas? Should Christians be offended that I say Merry Christmas?

Confusing. Hm. I just said Merry Christmas to my Christian husband and he seemed to like it so I guess we're good.

And the muslim gal I said it to last year sent me a text yesterday wishing us both a Merry Christmas, to which I replied Happy Holidays and that doesn't look like she's offended either.

Maybe these things aren't as complicated as some people make them seem...
