I wrap some cloth around my hands and slide down the line connected to the grappling hook.

What the heck do they mean by attention span, anyhow?  I've always thought it meant how long a person could stay well enough focused to deal effectively with a specific task, and yup, that's more or less how the article defines it:

 

 

 

The average human attention span – how long we can concentrate effectively on a single task – was recently reported by Microsoft to have dropped below the level attributed to goldfish.

 

But the article that they link to says the average human attention span is now less than 10 seconds!  How could anybody ever read a story -- even a paragraph -- with an 8-second attention span?  I admit, that would explain a lot, but I seem to have the opposite problem, namely the ability to focus so well on what I'm doing that I don't remember I've left something on the stove till I hear it starting to boil over.

Guys, I am 500% overwhelmed.  I still feel like I haven't had time to really digest the special, and now I've got X-files coming out in less than two weeks.

I just went out and shoveled a few inches of snow and ice off the front porch, walk, and ramp so that the UPS guy won't have any trouble delivering our copy of TAB later today.  :D

 

While I was out there, I noticed a couple of commercial jets flying low enough that I could tell one of them was probably a FedEx plane, heading westward a bit to our north, presumably headed for the Indianapolis airport.  That's a bit odd, because the usual flight path has them heading north-northwestward just west of us, and they're not typically quite that low.  I suppose today's winds are sufficiently different that they're taking a different approach.

Their is a thing called a ceiling that affects flying as I've heard mentioned several times over the years watching the droning weather voice on our 2nd PBS station. I wonder if Indiana had a low flying ceiling to affect the altitude (then other conditions affect the flight path).
