I've got an email from Showmasters with a survey. One of the questions was if I intend to attend any of their events next year. Sherlocked was among them, so I assume there should be one next year. Their promise to organize a Sherlocked USA event wasn't kept, though.

They said specifically that no Sherlocked in the US?  Ugh.

When I think about it - Showmasters seems to be a company for UK, so they probably didn't have anything to do with any events in the US.

But it doesn't change the fact that some other "they" haven't kept the promise of organizing Sherlocked USA in 2015.

Took me a while to find this:

I just received an email from SHERLOCKED this morning and this is the text from it:

We hope you had a great time over the weekend and enjoyed all the activities on offer.  We are pleased to say that all of our guests, and everyone involved in making it happen had a fantastic time, and as a result we are also pleased to announce that...

SHERLOCKED Will Return!

It's true, in the VERY NEAR future we will be announcing not one, but two dates for 2016 and one of those dates will be in America!

Prepare to be SHERLOCKED!

So they apparently did not fink out on us entirely, they just postponed the American convention to 2016.  We can keep checking their website for dates and other details.

Note that for the first convention --

DATES & VENUE ANNOUNCEMENT!

SHERLOCKED
The Official Sherlock Convention

will be taking place at

The ExCeL, London

on

24th - 26th April 2015

-- they didn't announce the date till less than three months ahead of time.  That's likely to happen again, I would think, since (as with filming a new series) they need to decide on a time when the cast and crew are all available at once.

My first thought was that at least they couldn't schedule either convention during the filming of Series 4 -- but on second thought, that might well be the best time, if Hartswood is agreeable to the idea.  Everyone would sure as heck be available then, and it would mean losing only a weekend or two (which the those poor folks would presumably have been hoping to have off anyhow).

Any news on when we'll get the USA Sherlocked convention?

Not that I've seen so far (other than "2016") -- so just keep checking their website!

This was my first thought, actually :p

But I wonder if they come with anything attractive enough to lure me again. Marin and Amanda would be a good reason, if someone will convince them to attend. The boys in their film haircuts would be nice. The best would be if they came in costume!

A bit unrelated, but I am responding to 'lure'.

I think it's about time they make the whole casts for Madame Tussauds.

And throw in Khan too (sorry, can't help it). XD

Well Tom Hiddleston came to SDCC in his Loki costume, and that was really terrific!  Just too hilarious.

People think I am weird that I like Loki more than Thor.

Then I come here.

YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST! :)

Uh, no.  You are not weird.  Because Loki is a far more interesting character than Thor.

Okay... so there IS going to be a US Sherlocked...

Apparently, sometime this coming year -- somewhere in the US (which covers roughly the same amount of territory as "somewhere in Europe").

I think it's fairly safe to assume it will be in a major city, either on the east or west coast or in the middle of the country.  I'm thinking NYC, Orlando, Dallas/Ft. Worth, San Diego, Los Angeles, St. Louis.

I keep assuming NYC or San Diego, but that's based on nothing other than the fact that they have the two big comic cons.

it's not as big as a comicon, of course, but I'd think that anywhere a Star Trek convention could be held  would be where a SHERLOCKED convention could be held.

Please define "Star Trek convention"?  I've seen events called that, meeting in something the size of a corporate board room.  I've seen other things called that, held in a single hotel ballroom.  But if this past year's Sherlock convention was anything like I'm imagining it to have been, it'd take a considerably larger venue than those -- several ballrooms at least (and a large auditorium would be nice).

But I believe there are decent convention centers in a good many US cities nowadays (even Indianapolis!).

It will take a decent sized venue... if Americans actually show up... still not sure it's quite caught on here...

I'll wait and give my opinion on that latter point after the seeing TAB in a theater on the 6th!

Hopefully it won't be as dismal as the audience numbers for HAMLET in my local theater.  I would think it would be big because I live in Chinatown, but...hmmm....  Curly Fu and Peanut should be huge here!!!
