It could be a real zoo, yeah.  (If enough people can afford it.)

I'm very upset cos I'm not going there :(  It appears to be very expensive to me, I need ticket to the Sherlocked, plane tickets, visa and accomodation. Due to the exchange rates it is such a big money:'C  So I wish luck to all of them who's going! Hope you'll meet and get autographs of Benedict, Mark and so on:3

All of that adds up to big money, exchange rate or no exchange rate!  Plus it's awfully last-minute.  Alex and I just don't feel we can afford it right now, and we'd rather try to be there for Series 4 setlock anyhow.  If they ever have a convention on this side of the Atlantic, we might consider it, depending on details (such as which city -- may I recommend St. Louis?).

Man, what a boon that would be for a city like St. Louis!   I lived there for a year.  Very cool city... great architecture, music, food... LOVED the City Museum and Forest Park.  Although, for selfish reasons I'm still hoping for NYC.  ;)

I like St. Louis for more than the obvious selfish reasons -- it is, as you say, a great city, plus it has large convention facilities.  But best of all, it's centrally located -- NYC would be best for the east-coasters, and SF for the west-coasters, but St. Louis is within a fairly short flight of just about everyone in North America.

Yes, but some of those prices for the event... gah!!!

True -- but if we could drive there, maybe even stay with friends....  London would be about an order of magnitude more expensive.

Holy prices!  Maybe I won't be going if it comes to the US.  lol.  I'd be most interested in the talks but you don't even get tickets to the talks included in the packages until the gold level.  I'd be worried with the lower levels that the talks would fill up and I wouldn't be able to get in.  I can't say I care as much about the photos and autographs.

You apparently don't get a guaranteed seat in the talks with any ticket level.  It's just that the higher your level (and the lower your ticket number), the closer to the front of the queue they'll let you.  But if you come in late, then heaven help you!

Has anyone here ever been to something like this?  Like if you get the standard weekend ticket or silver pass what would be your odds of making it into say a big talk (like with the whole gang), or will it likely be full of VIP, platinum, and gold members?

All I have been able to find out is this: http://www.sherlocked.com/index.php/features/36-exclusive-talks

So it seems the paid talks are included in the higher packages (at least 1 ticket for Silver +), and for Gold and regular admission you can purchase a seat for a talk the day of if there is availability.  Then the other talks are a first come first serve free for all?

And they are working on the US convention with details hopefully coming soon.

Honestly, if I could, I would go for the VIP pass.  But that's really pricey.

They are?  Aha!  So they are!

No paid talks are included in the Silver Package, I'm afraid (I bought the Silver), but I think Gold and Platinum have at least one talk included in their deal. But other than that I think you're right.

Oh, sorry... I swapped Gold and Silver when I was typing earlier.  You are correct.  :)

Pricey? Here you would buy an used car for that money.

Actually I could afford it without running into debt for the next decade, but I couldn't care less about the most of what VIP tickets offer.

I don't care about autographs and merchandising, the really interesting things are:

  • 1 ticket to a talk with each guest in the Main Stage (includes priority access to seats before all other ticket types)
  • 1 ticket to a screening introduced by lead guest(s) (includes priority access to seats before all other ticket types)
  • 1 seat at the Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss round table chat.
  • 1 ticket to an exclusive walk around the sets with production designer Arwel Jones

I don't even care for the party and reception (I'm so not the party type), but I might give it a try. Still - not for this price. It just feels  unfair. I'd like to know where the money goes.

Hopefully a lot of the money goes to the celebrity guests!

If I'm reading the ticket info correctly, all ticket types (with the possible exception of the Day Passes) include access to the talks -- which is why the Gold Pass includes "1 ticket to a talk with each guest on the Main Stage (includes priority access to seats before Silver and Weekend ticket types)."  But the special events are included only with the higher ticket levels.  Am I misreading / overlooking something?

No, you're sort of right, Carol :) As holder of a weekend pass or Silver ticket you can still get acces to the panel talks... You just aren't guaranteed a seat, because it's first come, first served.

So, I'll have to listen to Sherlock: "When I say run, run!"

And hope they don't have simultaneous panels so that you have an agonizing choice.

I believe they did say they're running two tracks, but I doubt they'd purposely create any agonizing choices -- probably each time slot will be something like The Good One in one room, and in the other room, The Consolation Prize for People Who Couldn't Get a Seat for The Good One.

Though of course they may not entirely realize which programs will turn out to be super-popular.

Are you attending, sherlockandjohn?

Indeed, I am  You too?

Don't think so. It's a little too far.

I'm just expecting a detailed report  :P

With pictures. :P

One more guest has been announced:  RUPERT GRAVES (alias D.I. Greg Lestrade) !!

And apparently more guests are in the planning stage, to be announced "very soon."

Very cool about Rupert.  Any news on Louise being there?

I don't believe they've said anything about her, one way or the other.  So far, it's just Cumberbatch, Graves, Gatiss, Moffat, Sue Vertue, and Arwel Jones -- but with more announcements pending.
