Another thing I noticed during SoT

Both pics are made from a similar position. A foot here or there doesn't matter, because in the right pic the scull cannot be visible in the mirror. No way - unless the mirror is rotated. The shadow on the wall suggests it might be. We know that behind the mirror there was a hole for a camera, so it might be just a goof - someone forgot to place the mirror back on its place properly. Which is even more spooky as if it was made for purpose. As a kind of foreboding symbol.

I think you're right -- the mirror has been shimmed out on the right-hand side, presumably in order to make the skull painting visible.  The alternative would be that the painting has been moved, but we can also see the door to the stairwell next to it, so no.

This makes me wonder how often they do this sort of tweaking, just to heighten an effect, and we never notice!

Just to be sure, I checked this against Yasuhiro's floor plan, specifically the overhead view, which I zoomed in on till the width of the living room matched the size of my handy-dandy plastic protractor.  And yup, in order to see the skull painting reflected in the right side of the mirror like that, one would need to be standing over next to the table, not in front of the fireplace.

WHEN is the next season?

Special in December (there abouts depending on any delay in releasing outside of the UK) and then maybe hopefully end of 2016 into early 2017 as filming starts right after Hamlet this Fall and will continue into early 2016.

Found this nice little video about the set... maybe it's been mentioned before.

Why we talking about 221 baker street and not 220 baker street? Or 222 baker street? After all, Mrs Hudson mentions in SIP 'Mrs Turner next door got married ones'

Well, John and Sherlock live in 221 baker street, right? What about their neighbours? We haven't met them yet

Thanks, Jenny, I hadn't seen that before.  Interesting that BC's violin is strung with cotton (which I believe is British for thread) -- apparently so it won't actually make a sound when he plays it.  Makes sense, since they'll be dubbing in his teacher's playing.

That's a good question -- though just to quibble, it's actually #219 and #223 (London house numbers are odd on one side of the street and even on the other), and yes, they actually renumber the neighboring doors before filming on North Gower Street.

There are several people who have been mentioned but not yet seen, including Mrs. Turner, as you say, and John's sister Harry.  Hmm, anyone else?  We've now met Mummy Holmes.  There are a number of others mentioned on John's blog, such as Bill Murray (not the comedian), the army nurse who saved his life in Afghanistan.  But anyhow, the neighbors -- other than Mr. Chatterjee (though he presumably doesn't live there, just runs the cafe), I can't think of any we've actually met.  Maybe they're saving them for future episodes?

I was often wondering what the in-universe neighbors think about living next to the boys.

Shootings, police cars, people jumping or falling out of windows. Helicopters.

I also wonder about the real neighbors at the North Gover Street. The fan gatherings. People making photos of every corner. Street blocks on a regular basis. Film people removing things from the facade of your house...

Is Sherlock a blessing for Speedy's, or something contrary?

Would love to pay a visit (also to Bart's), but it would be depending on the schedule and my mental condition.

I was hoping Harry would show up on the wedding, it was on my prediction list for season 3. Because we've met Sherlock's parents but not John's. I hope we'll her meet her someday. I'm curious which of my headcannons about Harry and the Watson's are correct.

Well, we met temporary neighbors in TRF... of course if they touched SH they were shot...

If I have the numbering and directions correct, Mrs. Turner is presumably in 223 as it seem Mrs. Hudson indicates her through the Smiley Face Wall which is North of 221 and up on the numbering system.

Also would like to meet some of the people mentioned but not seen.  Will be interesting to see if that happens and who that might be.

In one of the edited pieces of script, John says his mother is dead.  That's from the book, THE SHERLOCK CHRONICLES.

Yes,buy the book people...lots of gems!

I assume both parents are gone...we never met them at the wedding.

Pitty, I would have liked to have met John's parents. Especially his father

You're correct that #223 is immediately north of #221 -- but the smiley-face wall (behind the sofa) is on your right as you face the windows, and the windows face roughly east, so Mrs. Turner must live in the next house south, at #219.

I had the direction that 221B was facing flipped in my head.  Because of how N Gower St is usually shown in the outside scenes, I had Speedy's being south of their door instead of North. So yes Mrs. Turner would be in #219 South of 221B.

(Then we have :sherlock2: going "you see but do not observe" and doing the  thing he does when flustered with the lack of intelligence around him.)

Thanks, J.P.!  Some tidbits from that:

There is a poster of bee anatomy in Sherlock's bedroom -- so he does have an interest in bees, after all!

Chemistry was Sherlock's "major in college" (direct quote from Arwel Jones, so apparently that phrasing isn't quite as exclusively American as I'd thought).

The headphone-wearing bison skull is "one of the few pieces that actually survived from the original pilot through to the series and all the way through."  It's apparently not any kind of Holmes reference, Jones just thought the black-painted skull would be cool, and then one of the set dressers suggested putting Sherlock's headphones on it.

The skull painting was (at Jones's suggestion) painted on several layers of backing, to give it a semi-3D effect.
