Well he isn't exactly an evil twin.

His stage name is Richard Brook and he's an actor.

He was the one on the roof.

Uhm, he would have to be quite evil to demand Sherlock commit suicide or his friends get assassinated. Yeah very kind twin indeed. <_<

Yeah, I have to say i was a bit surprised that BC would have said so much about it even though I heard him say it, although has said in the past that he's terrible at keeping secrets.  Still, he could very well be playing people about it.  Maybe the conniving of Moffit and Gatiss are rubbing off on him... He may very well have an idea of how it is resolved, but I really don't think he's going to be giving it away in any shape or form.  He's just baiting the fans.  :D

And let's just look at the Moriarty conundrum logically:  he blew his brains out.

How many people do you think would have verified that he was DEAD DEAD DEAD?

1.  Molly

2.  John

3.  Lestrade

4.  Mycroft

5.  any number of Scotland Yard folks

6.  any number of forensic folks

Bits of brain matter were floating in the blood.  He was dead.  Cold on the slab.  Dead.  No fakery.  Dead.  If they brought him back alive, which they have said they WON'T - then I'd find that very disappointing, quite frankly.  That's not to say I don't enjoy watching Andrew Scott do that role... but Irene was never really dead, Sherlock was never really dead, but Moriarty is dead.

So the question is... who is baiting England with that animated gif of Moriarty?  On to the next villain or even perhaps the re-emergence of Lord Moran.

Or maybe hey... Magnussen isn't really dead either!

Ew! Don't say things like that... :P Let's hope you are right about Moriarty (unless the alternative to himself is an identical twin brother, in which case, I'll take the real thing).

Actually, Gatiss (I think ... one of them, anyway) was a bit cagey in an interview when asked about Moran. I thought at the time that it was because Mary was supposed to have assumed Moran's role, but maybe they have other plans for the character? I would prefer it be something like that, I think. Oh, I don't know, by the time I actually get to see a new Sherlock I'm probably not going to care if even Jeff the cabby isn't really dead. :D

Maybe this whole two-year wait thing isn't really due to the actors' busy schedules, but rather is Moftiss's clever plan to make sure we're so starved for another few episodes that we'll gratefully watch any old garbage.  Not saying that Series 3 is garbage, mind you, just that it could be and we'd be unlikely to notice.

Lol, I thought of that too! I think it genuinely takes them that long to get everything together, though. Filmmaking is a sllllow business.

That reminds me, I haven't seen anymore mention of The Lost City of Z, I'm wondering if it's still in the works.

I think I heard them say it takes about 3.5 weeks just to film each episode.  That doesn't count any rehearsals and read-throughs, discussions, location scouting trips, production design, or all the stuff that happens in post productions like  pick-ups, ADR, sound editing, FX editing, VFX, editing, music mixing, etc.  Filming is the quickest part.  It's post production that takes the longest.  Even so, they'll shoot starting in January and maybe go into February, then it goes to post, and then they sit on it for several months.  Arrggh.

I would think coming up with a decent script could take awhile too, especially if you're working on more than one project. But yeah, post production is a big ol' chunk of time.

Posted

Yeah, the script has to pretty much be 99% there by the time of the read-throughs, but I have a sneaking suspicion that they are already tinkering on the scripts for S5 simply because they know where S4 is going and need to see plan the future archs.  In fact, It wouldn't surprise me if they also didn't have S6 and S7 at least sketched out.  It just wouldn't surprise me if all of S4 was already written and that they're just continuing to refine them, let them gather dust, look at them again, make adjustments, that sort of thing.

So we might get to see an absolutely perfect Series 4 sometime around 2050!  :P

Oh, I'd notice, believe me... But after watching it ten times, I'd decide it was the best garbage imaginable and love it anyway...

... which isn't too awfully far from my feelings about "Last Vow."

I'm not sure if it's my very favorite, but it's definitely up there. It's infuriating and wonderful all at the same time.

I agree that "Last Vow" is both infuriating and wonderful.  However, many of the wonderful parts don't seem to hold up well under close scrutiny, whereas the infuriating parts do.  I'm doing my damnedest to create a coherent interpretation in my head canon, but it keeps raveling out around the edges.

I had no problem with it at all.

I'm just keen to see what happens next time around.

I'm glad that you're able to enjoy the episode without doing headstands.  :)

Hopefully I'll get to that point, eventually.

Hey, I didn't say it was coherent! :D

Let's see how many characters we can blame credit for that campaign -- even if we're plagiarizing other threads.

Sfmpco credits Mycroft.

Someone has credited Mummy, who is, after all, a genius and just wants her boy back.

Who else?

I vote for Anderson. I don't expect that to be the right answer at all (I think it'll turn out to be either Moriarty himself, alive for some odd reason, or a brother...), but I like the idea.

Reading through the other, above ideas I started thinking, "Anderson. Yes, that would be great!" and then read your comment. Wouldn't that be cool?! I really, really don't want it to be Mycroft. Come on! Let's not go there again. I didn't mind it too much in TEH, but now it's getting old.

You have to ask yourself -who has the ability to put Moriarty on every tv screen in the country?

Another question is, why? Why broadcast that gif? What purpose does it serve? If it was only done to bring Sherlock back, then our options are a lot more limited than if it has some other purpose we don't know about.

Excellent questions, and I kind of hope the broadcast was not just a plot to get Sherlock back. I know the alternative makes it too coincidental to be entirely believable, but I don't care. If this was a deliberate plot to get Sherlock to stay, it was a much too easy way of getting Sherlock out of trouble. I'd rather have that be a fortunate coincidence.

Also, if Mycroft is behind it for the purpose of saving Sherlock, why wouldn't he let Sherlock in on the plan? He knows Sherlock can act; he could easily pretend that he was going away for good. Of course, there's no saying that he wasn't pretending, and that Mycroft hasn't let him in on his plan, but that's yet another scenario I would hate.
