You and I and horde of his fans.

I doubt Jim has allies. He has people he can control by fear or hope for benefits, or he can make them think they can control him.

I don't know about allies, but he definitely had alliances, at least temporary ones; Irene Adler being one of them. (Gee, no wonder I don't trust her... ) I think Shadow's on the right track ... as erratic as his behavior is, Jim must be a fairly reliable business partner, or no one would do business with him. The same can be said for both Sherlock and Mycroft, now that I think of it. No, the difference isn't in their reliability; it's in which side they're on....

'Sensible' is subjective, one can think that it is sensible to think the worst of the unknown or taking the other direction, which is to think in term of resources and control and trying to decide its worth and the cost of managing it.

Question of ethics? Is it even relevant in the realm of real world politics?

Yes, I think so. Otherwise difficult decisions wouldn't be difficult, people like Mycroft would just do whatever they felt like.

If Mycroft is corrupt, it will transfer the focus of the series to him from Sherlock. He is already a show stealer right now , it is necessary to add more?

No! Nononono. John's already being pushed to one side as it is, push him out even further and I predict there won't even be a show anymore. Just no.

I wouldn't mind. I wouldn't even mind a Mycroft spinn-off. :D

Okay, a spin-off I wouldn't mind ... although since Mycroft doesn't do legwork, I imagine it could get rather tedious ... "And here's Mycroft in a meeting with his colleagues. Here's Mycroft on the phone. Here's Mycroft doing research on his computer. Here's Mycroft thinking. And thinking. And thinking.... " :p

*chuckles* Oh Arcadia, what would we do without your straight-arrow perspective?

>> Spin-off

The West Wing - House of Cards mashup. Game of Thrones in a modern setting.

Run wild in the streets? :P

Game of Thrones in a modern setting.

This, I would watch. XD

I don't see Irene as an ally or alliance. You don't threaten your allies with making them into shoes. She's more a kind of asset.

Actually, I believe she's a client... and most business people don't threaten their clients, either, but Jim loves to surprise... :d

Nahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

A shooting makes everyone screams bloody murder, you think it would work well with...let's say, beheading? XD Of any Sherlock's character?

Shame on you, SD and Arcadia, England would fall!

Actually, when I worked in consultant company, the desire to make shoes out of clients was realistically that strong. XD So I'm on Jim's side for this one.

Well, I wasn't thinking about Sherlock in Game of Thrones. But I'd be happy to stick, say, Donald Trump in there......

@Arcadia: We would be living in the world of evil unicorns ^^

@VBS: Politics through the ages always cutthroat in practice, modern setting and its 'civilized' norms only will make the story even more interesting. It is a continuous battle of wits and one that the SHERLOCK cast can be fitted into. ^^

That is one of interesting GoT factors, yes, but without the rest, it's not really GoT. :P

I think almost everything in GoT works because it's around medieval time table. I think too much.

Bring that Mycroft spin-off! It should be cheaper production, they need three sets; Diogenes club, 221B, and other random interior set (office/plane or torture chamber), they don't even need a cab. :)

Do you know the movie "Talk Radio"? The most important and emotional parts are jut one man talking in a dark room. I could easily imagine Mark doing such a performance as another Special (Maybe about backgrounds of Bond Air or interrogating Moriarty?)

Also that play with Ben about Churchill (Turning Point?) is two men talking in one room.

One can always dream...

I don't know those you mentioned, but certainly support Mycroft's monologue. Maybe about Redbeard?

Mycroft, Moriarty spin-off would be great, I think Moriarty's one would be very interesting, always like uncommon POV, there are some great ones lately, world is not necessarily viewed only from hero's angle. I've been trying to watch Hannibal as I always thought he is fascinating villain since Anthony Hopkins time, but unfortunately there is problem I couldn't continue yet.

Mycroft spin-off is great but I could see that it would be inferior to Sherlock. The lack of legwork and John, but it's possible to make it interesting with other factors.

John and Lestrade, sorry but without Sherlock I have hard time finding justifications that their stories could stand on their own.

Moriarty spin-off, please make it happen..! This is probably the only spin-off that doesn't need Sherlock to work.

You are not a fan of the likes of Coalition, aren't you VBS? A story doesn't need a jumping and running around protagonist, it is the web of subtlety that make it interesting and memorable. A story that makes you ponder about what is actually happened instead of the clear cut ones.

Oh, I think I'd watch a Lestrade spin off. Although perhaps only if Rupert Graves was in it.... :naughty:

Not Moriarty, though. He too much crazy for me. I need to be able to relate to the protagonist to enjoy a story, I think. I guess that's why I'd choose Sherlock over Mycroft; I really relate to him a lot, not so much his bossy big brother. :p

Oh I like complicated story lines and POV from sides other than protag, there is nothing pure black or white in my head, it's intriguing to get into unpredictable heads. Clear cut or predictable story lines are too easily forgoten, not something I fond of.

Mycroft, specifically Gatiss's Mycroft, is a fabulous character, but I can't imagine him carrying his own show.

Yeah, he works because he plays off of and illuminates Sherlock. Although I don't see why it couldn't be the other way 'round. Not in our show, tho! (Takes a defensive stance in front of Sherlock.)

*giggles* Like I said before, a combination of West Wing and the House of Cards.

Dang. You promised picture. Yet here I was. :axe:

I don't mind anyone's spin-off (Moriarty would be best) as long as they don't interfere with filming of Sherlock.

Come on, come on Moffiss. Move your a**es, and don't ever hang out with a fellow named GRRM.

Aw.... isn't he adorable and cuddly? :)

And Mycroft! I always wonder what he does in his free time. Beside exercising and a bit of thinking here and there.

When Sherlock called him about Irene, he was just sitting in front of fire place.

Yes, he is thinking. I understand that.

But at some point, all questions would have been answered, possible solutions lined up, intriguing ideas, moves and counter moves, nitty-gritty, future threats, inventions and scenarios. Then what?

Uhm.. err.. geez, maybe he thinks about what a fictional character does in his free time?

WHO DOES THAT?? :D
