The door is human size, means it is meant for human to go in.

It only has enough space for standing, means whatever you do, it's done standing.

There is no visible height difference on the floor or whether it's lower, so I guess it has nothing to do with water or anything that needs a drain outlet.

It is secured to the wall so this thing doesn't required to have too much strength or solidity.

On first picture it looks like it is put on the entrance to something..hopefully sterile.

 

From all those above, my guess.. is it a dry shower? Sterile shower or steam that functions to sterilize?

 

I have three guesses because I was tortured.

I know the door isn't hidden, but I thought maybe the place it led to was! (I was hoping for an explanation how Mary got into CAM's office unseen... :D )

We have a darkroom at my workplace (imagine that! - makes me feel sooo old) and people kept asking what the heck that was. Sometimes we lied to them. :D

PS: the smell in a normal darkroom is one thing, but if you used a rapid development process, the whole room smelled like a rabbit hutch. Not very clean one. Nice place to work during a heat wave.
