The romances take something away, don't they? I could handle Irene because she isn't going to be a long-term relationship for anyone, but a permanent romance needs to be kept off screen.  Even though I ship Sherlock/Janine, I've seen as much of it as I want to see; anything that needs to happen can happen on background now.

Yes, hints of romance is enough. Moreover, it keeps the audience speculating about what is really going on off-screen, which is good to maintain their interest up to a point.

:D They would be the power-couple of the series.

Interesting possibilities all of you talked about here. The majority were considering the romantic and or physical side, is that means deep down you want to see Lady S. and Mycroft H. pairing in the season 5? ;)

Tricky, because I have this feeling they'd be into costumes and role play, and I'm not sure I'd want to see/ be able to look away.

What did I do??

But yeah, Mycroft totally has a "play room" in that house of his.

Shadow... are you implying Boton has a play room?  :o  :P

Yeah, Shadow!   ;) It's a long way from me having Irene's Louboutins and aqua eyeliner to me having her play room.   :D

You mean one with cakes or his umbrella collection? :angel1:

giggle-skype-smiley.gif I can imagine. After all he likes a certain kind of flirting-style depicted on a film we saw at season 4.

@Boton: I am looking towards the fanfic-writer. Is this discussion sufficient to fire-up your ideas-generator? :D

Edit: Mycroft really likes the bunker-alike office, isn't he? Even when talking with Lady S. I would love to see his other offices besides the one we saw in Season 1. In Season 2 we get to know that a call for him get redirected through several people first, who were staying at different-styled rooms.

Oh, I have many ideas about things that Mycroft could hide in those umbrellas, and things he could do with bunker-style offices with no windows and lots of privacy....

[snickers] Somewhat different from my usual fare of fanfics. Pseudonym, I was talking about the non-physical dynamics between them. Two mature, worldly people, imagine the verbal and non-verbal exchanges that could happen as each of them danced and prodded trying to read the other and might be steering the dynamics to their liking.

Heh.  Don't worry, Pseud.  I don't write explicit fics because 1) many people do it better than I could, and 2) I would not want that attached to my name if my pseudonym ever slipped.  That doesn't mean I don't find the concept funny.

I think it *would* be fun to write Mycroft and Lady S. working together post-getting-together.  The high level flirting and the ability to read one another could be fantastic.  That, and the fact that I think there's a regrettable lack of fiction portraying a mature relationship; there is so much that goes on when you are a little older and perhaps a little more used to your partner that is so much more interesting than the typical will-they-or-won't-they clothes-grabbing and sweaty clenches.

Oh I read explicit fics like a fiend, I just don't want a BDSM Mycroft/Smallwood floating around in my head.  :o

I don't know the getting together part in fics is the interesting bit for me, I don't read much with established relationships. I think I just like the melodrama and angst of the two characters pining before they realise their feelings are reciprocated.

I like getting together fics, but I start to tire of them quickly. Maybe because it took me so long to find Mr. Boton, I am a little bit over the thrill of the chase.

(Did you ever watch Sex and the City? There is a scene in there where Charlotte is bemoaning her inability to find the right guy, and she drops her head on the table and says, "I've been dating since I was 15!  I'm exhausted!  Where IS he?!?!?"  I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe, and Mr. Boton had to stop the show and make sure I wasn't going to expire or roll off the bed.)

Better avoid Ao3's section of that particular pairing then, there are quite a number of fics of that nature on the list.

I'm putting this idea on my list.  This one is compelling enough to me that I might give it a go.

Oh? And will she be called Alicia or Elizabeth? Because we know from way back in HLV that Magnussen reads her as Alicia, but Sherlock calls her Elizabeth. Obviously he must have had a long, tiring shoot, but fan fiction writers have compromised by calling her Liz.

Her name card read, "Lady Alicia Smallwood." Personally I prefers Elizabeth, somewhat sounds more dignified.

Possible Alicia is her actual name, but Elizabeth could be the middle name she prefers to go by like Sherlock. Or vice versa. The problem with that theory is I would think Sherlock would know which name to use, and Magnussen would use any excuse to be overfamiliar, if it's possible to get more overfamiliar than licking someone's face.

She really doesn't look or act like a Liz imho.

Alicia Elizabeth [surname] or Elizabeth Alicia [surname]. I lean to the second version. :D

:offtopic: this particular subject reminds me to yet another disappearing RP partner. Most who want a Sherlock to play with their female OC tends to be unable to handle the intensity that I eventually (always!) slip into therefore I am not even going to try to tempt the newcomer to try with another pairing. [grumbles]

Sherlock seems to think Mycroft is gay ("Are we here to see the queen?" "Apparently yes").  But little brothers can be like that, so I wouldn't put too much weight on it.

I never thought of the "Queen" remark as any allusion to his sexuality. For me "queen" meant solely "the most important person in the country". Which was true, at least from Mycroft's POV. :D It's also why there are memes with "the Queen is not amused" and fitting pictures of Myc.

But in American English, at least, "queen" is (or was) also a slang term for "gay", so my mind naturally jumped to that meaning. But in context, they didn't really seem to be using it like that, so I've never been sure if that's what was meant. It seems out of place.

It's British slang, too.  From the Oxford Dictionary:  "A homosexual man, especially one regarded as ostentatiously effeminate."

I would have been less likely to take it as meaning gay if they hadn't giggled.  Whatever they meant, they were apparently making a rather childish joke out of it.

Well.... Mycroft's taste on clothing tends to be on the dandified side and look at the way he was standing up and hold the phone, or even the movements and positions of his hands at times. Mofftiss certainly had painted a not-so-masculine image for him. :D

 Sherlockology didn't update the Suits section for Season 4.
