That's perfectly believable, Arcadia.  The episode would've been more recognizable from a scene shot on the "outdoor" sound stage, but it's appropriate.  If the second one is indeed from a conversation about the Kobayashi Maru test, then I'd guess that they intentionally used an apple for that scene in the reboot movie.  In any case, it certainly works with Kirk's smart-ass attitude.  I love that scene!

The part where Khan says

Cumberbatch's flared nostrels reminded me of Arnold Rimmer and I couldn't get past that for the rest of the movie. :P

Dear me, you're right - now let's hope I can forget/unsee that ... no Red Dwarf in my Star Trek, thank you very much .

I had a similar problem in Desolation of Smaug - there is one instant where Smaug looks so much like Khan on the bridge of the Vengeance, it threw me right out of the movie :D.

And someone has already mentioned that Sherlock in Mycroft's war room ("Empty Hearse") seems to be channeling Khan.

You mean Sherlock getting a shave and being pissed at Mycroft? Yup, looks quite Khan-ish:

We know where Sherlock got it from, though ;):

Hmm, hadn't thought of that.  They both kinda look like that Cumberbatch fella.  But that's an interesting idea -- slick back his hair, have him scowl -- and watch the fans swoon!

Plus the sinous, snake-like way he tilts his head ... OMG, it's not Khan, it's Smaug!

Curiouser and curiouser......Watson would give Moriarty that same reptilian description.

I was wondering if that might have been Photoshopped, but Alex had a closer look and noticed that not only is Cumberbatch's reflection visible in the glass, there are also a couple of other reflections further to the right -- one that looks very plausibly like Martin Freeman and another who could be a woman (producer?) we saw working with them at the May 21st North Gower shoot.

So we think someone on the crew snapped this when they were filming the scene in the Tube station.  Just in case y'all hadn't figured that out already!  :D

Er, yes - following the link on "where" takes you to the twitter the pic came from, which is by Claire Pritchard (the nice lady responsible for keeping Sherlock's curls bouncy). She often twitters interesting pics from the set.

Well, that's what we get for staying on dial-up internet service this long!     I rarely even try to read anything on Twitter or Tumblr, because they take so darn long to download.  That does seem to be the implication there (wish she'd given some details, but guess we can blame Twitter).  Thanks for the confirmation!

Well 140 characters don't allow for a lot of details, but she did a follow-up twitter about the pic:

Haha I can just picture Ben & Martin begging Moffat & Gatiss to keep this scene in the episode for amusement purposes.

Moffat & Gatiss saying Nope no not ever going to happen.

Martin & Ben flipping them the bird and just accepting it.

It seems Paramount is finally releasing an edition of Star Trek Into Darkness that has all the extras, featurettes and deleted scenes that were split up among different editions (and some new stuff too) - as a 4-disc Blu-ray box set, which includes both reboot films. Amazon already has it on (discounted) preorder, set for release on September 9.

Oh, fer ... well, I'm not going to go out and buy it again. Grrrr. I'll just borrow BC's response, above. :)

Only in Blu-ray, and only in that combo so far - so you'll have to buy both films even if you had them individually before. There is some talk about a discount being applied if you bought one of the fragmented editions of STID, though, but I wouldn't keep my fingers crossed there.

Thank goodness I don't like the Trek movies that much -- well, I like 'em fine, in fact I like 'em a lot, but I'm not obsessed with them.  Would hate to have to buy a Blu-ray player just to watch a bunch of featurettes.  I would probably buy another DVD, though, if it had a lot of goodies and was reasonably priced.

Does anyone know if they included the shower scene?  ;)

Well that article in The Digital Bits talked about all-new deleted scenes, but your guess is as good as mine if that means the shower scene and/or the various bits they cut about Kirk goofing up. Since Benedict Cumberbatch appeared rather mortified about that scene at Conan's, I hope for his sake it's the latter .

And I hear ya about Blu-ray players. We only have one because it moonlights as our PS3 and I wouldn't want to miss our SingStar evenings :D.

just money grabbing, very annoying when companies do that. the extras will end up somewhere where we will be able to see them

;) I think most of them already are if you search around enough.

Believe it or not, this was the movie, which i watched around the end of April, early May 2014 that led me to "discover" BC.  John Harrison/Kahn was sooooo powerfully drawn by him that I was more interested in him than anyone else in the film.  Afterwards I looked up this actor and decided to see what else he had done, and that's when I ventured into SHERLOCK and I have still not quite picked my jaw up off the floor. :)

He's an amazing actor.....and one that shows so many facets which is nice for an actor...it means he doesn't get typed casted  at least one would hope not.
