You're right, and I didn't express myself very well. It's not that BC looks different every time (even though he sort of does) -- his behaviorisms are different from character to character, which I find relatively rare. Another actor that comes to mind that's like that is Robert DeNiro -- I'd see him in movie after movie, and was always surprised to realize it was him, because he inhabited his characters so well.

I think one reason I can't appreciate Meryl Streep is because no matter what role she plays, it's always Meryl Streep and her mannerisms, and there's something  about her that puts me off. Doesn't make her a bad actress, just the wrong one for me.

Truly versatile actors are great (and, like you said, unfortunately rare). I happened to see Cry Freedom and A Fish Called Wanda in the same week, and couldn't believe that Donald Woods and Otto were played by the same guy . I'll always love Kevin Kline for this.

Oh, I want to see Cry Freedom! I love nearly everything Denzel's been in, I don't know how I missed this one. Hmmm, where's that Netflix queue....

Not a trekkie in the least bit.  Barely got into ST:TNG and the other ST series after that.  I was never into the original series & movies so wasn't about to watch the reboot until I became a fan of Sherlock and decided to see what other roles Benedict played besides William Pitt the Younger (Amazing Grace) & Sherlock.  Regardless of whether or not I would re-watch some of his various roles I've seen, he's done them all brilliantly.  And I love his facial expression as Khan in that shot.  Truly a unique face.

Good way to explain it.

Even when I know it's him (well I should since I purposely hunt for it), one two minutes into the scene I already believe he is what he is in the role.

I'm jealous about Frankenstein.

BC is good at breaking hearts, istn't he? Alone some clips from "The Third Star" can do this to you. I wonder if I ever decide to watch this film.

Imo, you ladies should watch Hawking. BC was a lot younger but I thought his performance was amazing.

So..

Franskenstein.

Third Star.

Hawking.

Amazing Grace.

(collecting list)

Saw 12 Years of Slave (he has Sherlock's hair!) but I actually like Khan's the best. :)

Moffiss actually wants him to become Sherlock from his performance in Atonement.

I didn't know who he was and hated that character when I watched Atonement, but he was certainly very memorable for such a minor role, which proves a lot to me.

Anyway, just yesterday I was listening to another show's podcast, and this guy was complaining about the trend in TV and movies nowadays; lie to the audience about role/fate of the character.

He went on and on about how BC pretended that he was not Khan for a year (?) before the movie came out.

I'm not really bothered by those lies, also I hardly follow and believe entertainment news, but just, just hearing the name of Benedict Cumberbatch being mentioned again and again made my day.

Wahaha.. you got Khan-ed!

Frankenstein you would have to hunt down as that was NT Live and is not currently on DVD (there was a rumor some months back that it might make it to DVD but nothing conclusive on that).  There is at least 1 clip of him as Victor Frankenstein on You Tube.

Have you watched The Fifth Estate yet?  (The story of Julian Assange & WikiLeaks)  Benedict has white hair in that one.

War horse is good but his part is small. Some supporting some lead roles in the rest. Most are good haven't seen them all to comment

Warhorse is the only one I would skip, actually. Starter for 10 and Tinker Tailor are smallish roles, but really good ones (he's hysterical in "10").

The rest he's in virtually every scene. And I think they're all good, although the plot of Last Enemy sort of loses steam.

Actually, I don't think I've seen BC in anything that he can't be proud to show his kid someday. Which is unusual for a lot of young actors ... they usually have to take really crap roles early in their careers. (Slasher films, sex romps and such.) But as luck or talent would have it, all of his projects have had some class.

I liked warhorse and there is a brilliant scene (bit role as it is) of Hiddleston next to Benedict that is full of emotion & good cinematography/special effects.

That was what I worry about, prefer not seeing that see him in lousy roles. So it seems like I have nothing to worry about.

With this, I think it's official, he is kicking everyone climbing and perch on top as favourite actor.

Hiddleston? Maybe I won't skip this one. Of all the Avenger's heroes, I actually root for Locki.

And for Khan, I root for him all the way. He could destroy everyone, everything and I would still cheer. :)

He is not a bad guy, just trying to protect his family. XD And super smart. Again, smart is always sexy.

Unlike Avengers/Thor & STID Hiddleston & Benedict have very small roles in War Horse but overall it is worth a look at WWI history.

Plus it's got Mark Gatiss and Alice Eve (who played Carol Marcus in Star Trek Into Darkness).  I'm starting to think I might get this DVD.

Well, one of them is a steel case with Ben on the front.  Never even opened.  Only got it for the case.

Oh, well -- if it was for a case ....  :D

Now that is strange -- Khan's flowing locks I could understand, if he's been thawed out somewhere with no scissors, but The Scarf???  (Didn't know it came in brown....)

I didn't even know there was a Star Trek comic. Are the rest of the characters from the Mirror-verse too?

Well, duh, clicked the link, and of course they are. Never mind! :D
