I think we will only see even better things from him.

I actually really enjoyed this movie, have watched it twice, but we never got see it at the movies, we went to go one day but it was $AUD50.00 for us both to go see it as it was MAxScreen and bigsound or what not, it almost broke my heart to say "no too expensive" and walk away,  no wonder they had 147 of the 150 seat available to sel 10 minutes before the movie started, so waited until it came out on DVD and bought a copy myself.

I want to download it from Itunes but my harddrive is getting sort of full.  May need a bigger HD.

Seeing it on the big screen is wonderful, but it translaters really well to TV too, so don't feel like you missed TOO much.

This whole cast was a revelation to me, actually, they're all excellent. I'm really sorry they killed off Pike, tho, Bruce Greenwood is absolutely terrific in everything he does. There's no denying, tho, BC has some special mojo. I find it hard to watch what anyone else is doing when he's onscreen.

Does anyone know if they're planning to do a third film? Is it too much to hope Khan will be reawakened (again)?

I would think that since Khan is only asleep, there is a possibility that we'll see him again in the franchise.

Can't afford movies ... haven't been to a movie since Serenity, really !  But Star Trek Into Darkness is on Netflix Canada.  In fact, based on my viewing history, Netflix chose to put it on the list just for me !!  I'm so honoured !  LOL !  It seemed just fine on my 42" Samsung Smartie.  I was babysitting my friend's dog and she and I thought it was great.  Since I'm kind of a movie moron ... not going to movies kind of keeps me out of the loop ... I don't really know many of the current popular actors ... Mr. Cumberbatch being the exception thanks to Sherlock ... I haven't seen most of the other actors ... another exception being Karl Urban from the TV show Almost Human ... I kind of liked Mr. Spock.  I'm thinking the shower scene might have been nice. ;)

Ooops !  My Samsung Smartie is only 32 " ... wouldn't fit in my living room if it was 42" but I can dream !

Ooops !  Edited again to say that I know Karl Urban was Dr. McCoy and not Mr. Spock !

I'm going back to work now !

They'd be idiots not to do another film. And it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see Khan again sooner or later. After all, it happened in the original Trekverse (the "Space Seed" episode, followed years later by the Wrath of Khan movie).

You may also have seen Urban in Lord of the Rings, where he played one of those characters whose names I get mixed up -- OK, Éomer -- with a completely different accent, of course, as well as a lot more hair.

The Wrath of the Rohirrim will descend upon you if you don't get that right...... :P

So sue me!  :P   I've never understood why Tolkien had so many similar names in his stories.  (Admittedly, I'm not real good with names in the first place.)  But I really liked what's-his-name, if that wins me any points  -- or even if it doesn't.

Tolkien's version of "canon"! The Old English did it so he did too. :D

Nope !  Haven't read or seen Lord of the Rings,  either.  ( Also The Hobbit and The Game of  Thrones ... although I'm tempted to look in on the latter on TV as I understand Iain Glen is one of the stars and I think he is completely delicious !  ).  Seems I'm a literary as well as a movie moron !!   I like Mr. Urban, though, and would be curious to hear him speak in his native New Zealand accent.  I have a terrible time trying to understand the NZ accent ... not so much with the Aussies, though.

I think actors in general are fairly easy to understand -- presumably because it's part of their job to make sure people can understand them.

Alex and I have been listening to the Series 1 commentaries, and we're having a much easier time understanding the "Great Game" commentary, which was done by three actors (even though one of them was presumably there mostly because he's also the writer and lots of other things) -- Mark Gatiss, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Martin Freeman. I hardly had any trouble except when all three of them were talking (and laughing) at once.

"Study in Pink" was done by Sue Vertue, Steven Moffat, and Mark Gatiss -- only one actor -- and I don't think I understood even half of it.

Put it in subtitle mode.  Helps.  I only watch the episodes with subtitles because heaven knows BC can rattle off things so fast you don't catch it all.

Alas, the commentaries don't have subtitles. However, Ariane DeVere  has "translated" quite a few bits and pieces.

I think I've listened to most of the commentaries and don't find them especially difficult to understand.  I know that Mr.  Cumberbatch speaks pretty quickly ... he even said so in one of the commentaries !   ... and I love Mr. Moffat's gentle Scottish lilt.  But, so far, no subtitles required.  Maybe it's the wide group of accents I heard growing up ... or my addiction to British TV ... learning to make sense of all those regional accents so I can figure out what's going on. :o

Here's an interesting interview with Simon Pegg and Alice Eve and they have some interesting things to say about Benedict Cumberbatch, although I suppose it's nothing worse than what Steven Moffat has said about him if he was at a real crime scene or for not being at the 2014 Emmy Awards Presentation.

Apparently, Benedict Cumberbatch was not thrilled that J.J. Abrams showed the deleted shower scene from Star Trek Into Darkness on the Conan O'Brien show:

Saw a gif of that shower scene floating around on the internet. Wow I will admit that I, like many others, may have stared at it for a full twenty, maybe thirty loops before finally moving on.

BC does not have any issues being naked on camera or stage, so methinks he protested too much. However, I did read or hear him say that he went up 4 suit sizes when he bulked up to play Khan.  I like the bulkier Khan over the sometimes very gaunt SH.  But what the heck.  I just like him.  And the older he gets, the more I like him.

khan is one my fave benedict characters.

aside his looks (I don't care so much he's bulkier. I rather LOVE the khan hair..   and his face generally - really black eyebrows, vs the blondish eyebrows sherlock sports), anyway, what intrigues me the most about khan is his complexity. not  just a killer machine.

I'd love him to come back in the next ST movies.
