Shadow, there you are! I was beginning to think you were lost. Yep, our beloved Admin has it all fixed now.

I

-live more than "normal people", but not forever, I think it would be quite boring after some thousand of years

:P

That is a long time... I am curious about whatever happen to human race in the future, and technology that comes with it, but I prefer to live just average age, so I won't get bored or sad when everyone I love dies. However, I would upload my conscience and brain somewhere so my mind exists forever. Bahahaha..only brain, no attachment to emotion or physical being.

So happy that this forum is accessible again. :D

Yes!

Even for short period, inability to access the forum gave me withdrawal syndrome, hmm...something like an urge to kick an innocent passerby in the nuts.

Huhu! Have you read "Kot"? One of the characters of the book managed to do that. But he was evil, so so evil...

I haven't. Sounds interesting, is it good?

For some reason my kindle doesn't work now. I can't read anything even when the files are there, will get it sort and will find Kot if it's any good.

Well, you already guessed where I am if being silent for more than two days in row, it means I am lurking in the shadows! :D

Thank you Tim, you've had saved our sanity since many of us only have a tenuous grip on it during 'The Great Waiting' period. :DDD

We've had another glitch yesterday.

The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit.

Are we so popular or someone is trying to hack the forum?

Jim, is it you!? theusa_shifty.gif

It told you that? XD

We do miss him.

Mine went back and forth between something about database error, try refresh (which I did hundreds of time) or it's being fixed by the administrator (thank you) and You had been bitching about The Abominable Bride not available in your place, now we decide that this forum should not be accessible for you too. How is that? Addiction is never good, sincerely, Sherlock Forum.

I have to admit that possibility crossed my mind, since some 'harmless' websites are actually not accessible in where I am. *cough* reddit *cough*.

Seems kinda random here.  Sometimes I can get on, sometimes I can't.

Ah. I find this very reassuring. :p

I haven't been kicked out, but I just had trouble getting on again a few minutes ago. I haven't seen the "exceeded resource limit" that JP mentions though, just something about an SQL error.

I got some SQL errors when I tried to get back on after having been out of the house for an hour.  So it still seems to be kinda random.

Please save the kitties, I don't like fried ones.

I have option to either stuck in the street or stuck in airport for seven hours, and I choose the later. I thought I have time to wreck some havoc here but there is no power socket before I'm allowed to check-in, battery is draining and apparently there are mosquitoes start biting my a** through jeans.

It's not rant because I am happy the web is working in time like this. :p

What is this thread about again, anything goes right?

Anti pervert stockings anyone? :D

To be honest, when I stayed in a town with high criminal rate and commute alone often, I was thinking that personal protection like realistic muscle suit, creepy vampire teeth, or bloodshot eye contact lens could be helpful XD, although eventually settled with wooden baton disguised like roll of paper, pepper spray and bitch face. :p

Yup. Especially if it doesn't belong on a thread that has an actual topic.

I'm holding out for Hobbit feet!

I remember reading somewhere during first LOTR time about the actors commented that those leg boots are stinky. :P

Unless you meet a pervert with hairy legs fetish...

Well if he was a proper hairy leg fetish-cian he would know real and fake from a mile away. :P

Interesting.

I'm afraid I'm one of those boring people who largely prefers "moderation in all things". That is, I support efforts to level the playing field for women, but not by making it less level for men. But I also recognize that's an ideal that's not very easy to achieve.

Personally, I think some people should just calm down. I'm not particularly moved by loudly shouted, passion-driven arguments; if they can't bothered to shut up and listen to other points of view, why should I? I'd rather talk to someone who argues with reason, seasoned with compassion. So it sounds like this "movement" would be one I would find something in common with.

... pro-equality women who reject feminism ... simply think that real-life feminism has come to mean ... vilification of men, support for female privilege, and a demeaning view of women as victims rather than free agents.

Hear, hear!

I used to call myself a feminist, back in the Betty Friedan days, but started to question the organized movement at about the same time that she did.

What I currently find the most bewildering is the apparent belief that there are no differences between women and men -- except that women are of course superior.

... contributors to Women Against Feminism ... note that many studies show the pay gap to be largely due to women’s choices of more family-friendly — and life-friendly — jobs.

I've been saying that for years -- women are less likely to be workaholics because they're more likely to have a life.  And too bad that Lawrence Summers didn't quote those studies when he opined that the "tenure gap" between female and male members of the Harvard faculty might be due to factors other than prejudice.  (That was shortly before he was relieved of his position of University President.)

... call it reformed feminism or egalitarianism, we need a movement for true equality — against both old-fashioned sexism and new gender polarization.

Indeed.

Of course! :lol5:

I prefer moderation also, and often find any fanatism or extremist repulsive.

I'm also probably the one who rolls my eyes with alleged sexism in various scenarios. Face it, man and woman are different, it's just logic that one gender could be better at something compared to opposite gender, it's not always sexism.

What is sad about gender difference that hardly get enough attention is, I had read way too many times about men being victim of abuse, but it's often ignored because it shouldn't happen that way. Huh?

Victim or assailant could be anyone.
