I saw it but hadn't had a chance to read it until now.  Interesting article that doesn't really tell us what we don't already know.  But it's nice to have it confirmed again.

They've been threatening that reduced to tears crap for months now.  You know what.... BRING IT, MOFFAT!  Or, don't...  Is he bluffing?  Crap.  Save Molly!!!

But luckily we'll all be dead per the timeline Gatiss gave for filming so at least we won't be reduced to tears.

As my favorite blogger wrote: I won't believe a word from Moffat, even if he says his name.

He (and Mark as well) are like Sherlock. You never know when (or if) they are serious or just playing a little gaaaaame of theeeeeeirs.

Actually, the "reduced to tears" crap is from last August, and this new article merely quotes it (and links to it).

Not that that helps any!

I'm happy to wait...

In the meantime we have the pleasure of the Special.

Maybe his name isn't Moffat...

I know, I was mostly joking about it.  :)   Although, I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me a bit nervous every time I read it...

"Reduced to tears" could apply just as well to something really sweet and sentimental as to something horrific.  (Admittedly my expectations from Moftiss lean more toward the horrific, but there's also a wide swath of middle ground available.)

OK, checking that August article for the exact quote:

“We have a plan to top (season three),” said Moffat. “I do think our plan is devastating. We’ve practically reduced our cast to tears telling them the plan…we’re probably more excited than we’ve ever been about
Sherlock
.”

Yeah, he used the word "devastating" in the sentence immediately before "reduced to tears."  But he does seem to have his own quirky definitions for many words, so I don't think I'll bother panicking just yet.

You know Carol, I never thought of that.  lol.  I guess because of the word devastating I just thought of it as a negative.  That and Mofftiss.  :)

And also they are actors.  They are easily reduced to tears.   :lol4:

I love your optimism.

Has anyone thought that the dear maestro of the improbable was talking about tears of mirth, due to the improbability he was sketching out for them? Consequences can take all sorts of forms, and Mr Moffat has shown himself to be completely unreliable and untrustworthy, and I would be grateful if someone with connections could tweet THIS to Mr Gatiss or Ms Vertue!

Poor Steven, gets such a hammering...

He really is lovely.

I remain convinced that some of it is because people just don't get his dry, Scottish manner.

Steven and Sue seem like very lovely people.  I would love to meet with them someday, even if over tea or fish and chips.

I agree regarding the many possibilities for "consequences" -- but surely Mr. Moffat would prefer to be thought of as "unpredictable"!  :D

As far as one could tell, nothing new in that particular tidbit! Dear sfmpco, you yourself created a "what did we miss" thread, perhaps you should collect all data from it and tweet Ms Vertue. as for the 2016 release date, will they be rush headlong to go for a summer one, going back to S1, if the gentleman in question can be trusted further than I could throw a caber, or himself, for that matter!

I don't remember reading this before? "Moffat ... said that while the previous seasons were all too serious, the upcoming storyline between Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman's characters will be a little more loose, more fun."

Of course, they didn't actually quote Mr. Moffat, so there's no way of knowing if he actually said that or if they just think he did! So maybe I did see it before and just ignored it... :p

I believe that the quote that everybody's been quoting for the past few months does say something along the lines of fun and frolic as well as heartbreak -- so they could still be paraphrasing that, yeah.
