That was sweet, that little scene with Redbeard in the mind palace, wasn't it? Ever since, I have thought Sherlock secretly sympathized with little Kirsty in Hounds of Baskerville over Bluebell...

Redbeard and Bluebell! :D

Things I'd like to SMELL during Series 4:

Biscuits and tea.

Mary's perfume.

Anderson's aftershave.

Mrs. Hudson's herbal remedies.

Angelo's signature dish. Unless it's fish.

The only info we have on Angelo's menu so far is from Sherlock: The Casebook, wherein John is said (on page 16) to have ordered basil & parmesan fettucini.

Martin Crieff as the third Holmes brother. It will be comedy gold for the audience and challenge for BC to play two characters at the same time :D

Adding Crieff to the character line up would be brilliant regardless of being made the 3rd Holmes brother or not.

From the point of view of production, it is not difficult, Sir Alec Guinness played twins back in the 50s, it is just split/screen stuff, and our favourite character can do so many accents one would like to throttle him just a little, but would it be a more interesting addition than Loki/Hiddleston?

Personally not sure if it would be more interesting or just as interesting. Would be fun to see Sherlock have to fly MJN Air or otherwise run into Crieff & the 2 interact.

The thought is certainly entertaining!  And the technology is certainly there.

Not sure I'd care to see them actually do that in the show, though -- it could add a farcical note to what has heretofore been a fairly realistic show that derives its humor from fairly realistic situations.

On further reflection, it might be possible to do -- as long as Crieff is on-screen very briefly, just long enough to establish the in-joke, sort of a throw-away gag.  Would love to see the look on John's face!

Or just have him announce his name: "Welcome aboard Oceanic Airlines, this is Captain Crieff..."

Well, if we're going to talk about contemporary fictional characters, perhaps he could have a case invovling some of the Eastenders!!!

Sorry to be so ignorant -- was Cumberbatch in that too?

Posted

No.  Definitely no.  But he does watch it when he can.

Who, BC or Sherlock? :p

OK, so there's no obvious crossover potential, as there is with Crieff from Cabin Pressure.

By the way, apologies to anyone who's not familiar with that radio series, and has therefore been wondering what the heck we've been talking about.  Crieff is also played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Maybe they could run into a Major Stewart while they're at it.

Agreed. They have some good ones on there.

Don't recall if this has been mentioned... but I would love to see Mycroft in trouble and Sherlock having to save him! Wouldn't that be something? :) A) We'd get to see Mycroft not on top of things, B ) Sherlock would have to show, for once, that he does care about his brother, which would be cool... but only once! :) I wouldn't want them to get too cute.

That would be brilliant. They could always have at least part of Mycroft's office building get taken over and the only one smart enough to do the rescue be Sherlock. (Yes I know being a government worker means the building is usually well secure but we all remember the TRF break-ins).

Of course! "All it takes is some willing participants" and Mycroft doesn't trust his own secret service. "They all spy on people for money". Hehe!

Actually, I think Mycroft's office is supposed to be in the basement of the Diogenes Club, so there presumably wouldn't be any Secret Service around anyhow.  All the perps would need to do is figure out that his office is there -- and remember not to talk!

I'd also like to see Sherlock make Mycroft sweat a little before he rescued him; make him think maybe little brother really HAD learned not to care. Ha, that'd teach him.....

Oh no, I'm no writer! Is there such a job as "Thinker-Upper of Ways to Get Back at Older Siblings?" :D My qualifications: three older siblings. 'Nuff said!
