It might be kind of neat, though, if Mycroft himself wound up in trouble as a result of his actions ... as a result of his "caring." Then little brother could ride to the rescue instead. I suppose that would be too much to hope for, though. Actually, now that I re-read that, I'm not even sure it's something I want to see! I would love to see them match wits, though.

While I kind of refuse to believe that Mycroft would really send Sherlock to his certain death (it would not be believable considering how they've built up Mycroft's character and the brothers' relationship in the past), I really hope that this time, Mycroft will not turn out to be at the bottom of everything. It's getting kind of boring.

That is my main problem with Mycroft: He's too all-powerful, too omniscient and in control of everything and it over-simplifies the plots. They can write themselves into any kind of mess and all they have to do is make Mycroft wave his magic umbrella and everything can go back to normal.

I'd like the big brother to fade more into the background. Let him become involved in some big dull international affair or something that takes his attention elsewhere.

By the way... I wonder what they have done with him in the Victorian setting.

Mycroft takes "Big brother is watching" to a whole new level.

We could have Mycroft not behind the Moriarty thing, but Sherlock thinks he is for part of the investigation only to discover who the actual culprit is (whether it is actually Moriarty or someone else).  I also like the idea of a battle of wits between the brothers.  That would be brilliant (Vizzini & Dread Pirate Roberts/Westley style only with the Holmes boys).

I would like to see Sherlock Holmes go to jail.

Not permanently, but he did commit murder. And since 4 minutes of exile might be too little, it would be an interesting twist to see him go to jail.

And then find a way to get himself out.

After all, Moriarty engineered his own arrest, acquittal, and release. He's got one up on Sherlock.

Sherlock could do tons of research while in prison -- all sorts of things he could learn from felons in there. Sherlock in a candy shop.

It would be delightful to see John Watson, Molly, and others fretting about how to get Sherlock exonerated, only to have Sherlock engineer his own release.

And while he's in there, he could even solve a case or two with Watson and Lestrade feeding him the details.

Not sure I'd care to see that, but it does sound intriguing -- and what the heck, Moftiss could surely make it fun and interesting.

Hello, Godolphin -- welcome to Sherlock Forum!  :welcome:

Thank you, Carol the Dabbler. I like your duck.

And since it's unlikely we'll see Sherlock go to jail, I'd settle for just a small nod to Archie getting his headless nun (photos, I would assume).

My duck thanks you for the compliment, Godolphin!  (Note:  She's a dabbling duck, as contrasted with a diving duck.)

The 12th Doctor from Doctor Who

Ahhh...okay, got it. I've only seen a few episodes. Who could he play? Moran? Or a newly invented villain?

Certainly not Sebastian Moran unless that character is supposedly to be 'The Man Behind The Man'. I am thinking about an accomplished man that could give the Holmes brothers a run for their money.

A sinister sensitivity coach who wants them to get in touch with their feelings, perhaps?

After watching TGG today, I really want Moriarty back in some capacity even if it is one of his brothers just so we can have Andrew Scott back for more than just a reference in Sherlock's Mind Palace or as part of the HLV cliffhanger resolution.

Should I expect that to pop up under your Ao3 at some point down the road as a one shot or short story.

Ummm.... probably not.  But who knows.  Maybe if I get exceptionally bored and need an idea, but I already have ideas I can't even get to.  Only so much time in the day.

Peter Capaldi was awesome as the villain in the first series of The Musketeers... I certainly would not be unhappy to see him on Sherlock, in whatever role.

He played some sort of cuckoo nut in Fortysomething. He must have made enough of an impression for me to remember his name!

What I wish for S4 ist esp. one point: I want Moriarty to be dead. As much I liked him during the series, if it really happened that he's alive the complete scene on the rooftop in TRF would have been spoiled! I think esp. the fact that Moriarty was serious and crazy enough to kill himself just to make Sherlock jump - gosh, that was amazing! I don't want this moment to become so unimportant by Moriarty being not dead.

And to be honest I'd like to see Sherlock and Molly getting a little closer. Not that they have a romantic relationship or so, but I think their weid relation has to move on somehow. Molly is free again and Sherlock has developed a lot esp. as far as his emotions and caring are concerned. I hope this also has an effect on Sherlolly - somehow.

I really like how this was already shown in TEH :P

I was just thinking the other day that I would like to see them become really easy around each other, and I'd like to see Molly impress Sherlock with some deductions of her own. Less of an assistant to Sherlock and more of a coworker. I think I'd be happy if they were genuinely friends.
