I bet you're right.

But, erm, uh ... what is a hashtag train?

Posted

There is a train that was specially marked with the hashtag #LforLewis that went from Edinburgh to London. Hence the title hashtag train.

I know who to root for, Christmas is overrated anyway. :P

Well, if someone asks me which one is preferable; overweight old man with excessive facial hair or faceless jaguar trapped in cello... I always love animals, many times more than human. XD

You're a mean one, Ms. Grinch. :P

Major confusion! I kept reading that as Guadalcanal Diary.... plus, I wasn't even thinking of the film!

I saw that earlier, asked my son about it & we are going.  Just wish we didn't have to wait a month to see it while glad it's not interfering with a conference I'm at next week.

"Short role" ... no kidding!

God, he's such a natural comedian  -- why why why hasn't he been cast in a comedy?

Achtung! Achtung! Alert for BBC 2 tonight at 8:30 pm GMT BC at Shakespeare event alongside Dame Judi Dench and the other Mr Holmes, Ian Mc Kellen.

P.S. It was absolutely hilarious! Minchin asked him who he was: "An actor," came the reply. Then Minchin asked if he had played Hamlet "I have, actually" "Oh, it's Eddie Redmayne" screeched Minchin and proceeded to take a selfie with him and Benedict. " what are you doing?" "I simply loved you as the Danish girl!" Benedict valiantly continued to try to impart his hard-earned wisdom on that soliloquy, being continuously interrupted by David Tennant, another Hamlet, then Sir Ian McKellen (two Mr Holmes sharing a stage), then by Dame Judi Dench complete with skull (from the Yorick soliloquy) with Benedict trying to get a word in by the end! I almost felt sorry for him, such a thankless task, to be the light relief!

By the way, can anyone identify for this poor ignorant American ... the young man at the beginning, the first lady who comes in, and the bald guy?

Posted

Cannot identify the guys, but to be honest, this sketch was the most watch-worthy thing in the whole gala. Maybe beside Gandalf... I mean Ian. :D

Yep! The broadcast was live: wavy but not curly, he, he, he ( maniacal :moriarty: cackle). Do you mean the hostess: she is Catherine Tate, the host is David Tennant, another Hamlet veteran. And the bald guy is Rory Kinnear.

And I quite liked, apart from the whole Hamlet controversy, where HRH Prince Charles had to restore order to the universe, Roger Allum doing Lear: he's the connecting link between Young Morse and Sherlock, as he has appeared with both male leads in other series.

The guy with the long hair who thought Benedict was Eddie Redmayne  :wtf:  seemed so familiar, but I have no idea....kinda reminded me on Russell Brand with real bad hair  (or was it even really Russell Brand with bad hair??  :o  )

Cool that Ian McKellen was there, too.

Okay, gang:

The young man at the beginning is named Paapa Essiedu. Has done a couple Shakespeare productions.

The goofball who first interrupts him is Tim Minchin, a (surprise!) comedian.

The lady who comes in after Benedict is Harriet Walter, from (it says here, I wouldn't know...) Downtown Abbey, among many other things.

And the bald guy is Rory Kinnear, whose name rings a bell but I swear I've never seen before in my life. But he was great. Oh, I see, he was in the recent Bond movies. Nope, never seen him. :p

Why did you miss Billy? He has more camera time than BC.

I quite like that goofball actually. And two Holmes in one stage is great.

It's a bit too short for the voice.

Papa Essiedu is actually doing Hamlet at Stratford, I mentioned Minchin right at the beginning, and Rory Kinnear after your question, dear teddy bear, but hair is hair, so there!

On thursday I am going to see Hamlet encore screening with BC. Looking forward to it. :sherlock:

BC can have any hair he likes, as long as Sherlock has his curls ... and he does!!! :cowdance::boing:http://www.sherlockforum.com/forum/topic/3343-spoilers-series-4-setlock/?p=96237
