Maybe we shall have to wait until April for his rendition of Richard III on BBC2.

Yeah, at least the teddy bear didn't end up with bullets in it. It got off easy!

Posted

Yes, and I think Teddy deserves it, coming in uninvited acting all fury and big,

I would beat him up too.

Anyway, there is one tiny little small interesting thing that BC can do, ...being Sherlock! Don't give me excuse that you are busy and we end up seeing All. Here, give me that &@%$*teddy, you do that little series and I do the beating up. I promise he would be teddy pulpy in no time.

(Sorry, not, for being slightly weirder than usual, I swear there was no middle point between scalding hot and freezing cold water with my shower just now).

Did any of you catch Benedict's live streaming yesterday in Encounter? I couldn't watch it because of my work schedule! Any help out there? Thanks in advance.

JP, what would we do without you?

We'd be a little more lost than we were before.  And I agree with JP about hear.  I've been mostly listening while being on here with the occasional flip to the video.  It is most interesting indeed.

But I would say it was too long. Especially when you have to pay extra attention to understand the words.

On the other hand: imagine learning all that text! And this without anybody on the stage you can react to.

It's like the modern Hamlet in terms of being difficult and exhausting.

Speaking of Benedict, I just got The Last Enemy DVDs and am quite excited at watching a 2008, no-curls, no-lisp, no -unnecessary-dramatics performance, aided by his youthful self.

Oh, the lisp is there.  ;)

He's looking a little more filled out these days... not as skinny as he has looked in the last year.  I think it's a good thing, but curious how this will impact his look as Sherlock, since he's always lost weight for Sherlock.  I would hope he doesn't keep yo-yoing his weight around, though.

ETA:  Although, maybe it won't be much different from his going from Khan to Sherlock.

But at least there is some hope for curls.

He was spotted yesterday on a rugby match

A teensy bit of BC from the most recent Letters Live:

I should also add that Sophie Hunter was reading on the same night and was reading opposite Loo Brealey at one point (although I think they may have each had solo reads too).

Hard to say or if he's just got it really slicked back and under a lot of product.

OK! Another round of much ado about Benedict's hair! J.P. Is probably right, because the back is neatly trimmed and very carefully, tastefully cut. Evident in the side view.

Sophie Hunter had a solo reading, something by Helen Keller.  BC and Loo did their Dear Bessie letters again.

It happened. I bought a magazine because there is a snippet of Dr.Strange in it. But it was a nice magazine and I don't have a lot of chance to come across those...excuses..excuses..

Anyway, there is a mention about BC taking a role as Jasper Maskelyne in The War Magician. I try search engine but couldn't find anything about it here.

It sounds like something I would definitely catch, BC or not. With BC, I will make very very special effort.

Anyone knows? Because you guys are normally my only source of these kind of info! XD :)

Camper mentioned something about it a ways back: http://www.sherlockforum.com/forum/topic/2189-benedict-cumberbatch-news/?p=87107

I remember googling it and found out it's a true story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jasper_Maskelyne

I know one of you would know it somehow, sometimes I don't click on links when I am mobile and must have forgotten about Camper's link later.

(Or it's facebook and if it requires sign-in I'd skip XD)

Yes, it's true story and sounds very interesting. Not into war movie as in the misery and suffering, but I love war strategy. This is a bit different so I am curious.

Here's a bit about LETTERS LIVE from the Evening Standard.  Included in the article is a short film made by Adam Ackland, BC's producing partner in their company, SunnyMarch Productions, who incidentally also hold the rights to LETTERS LIVE.

Are you all sure that's how Ms Brealy spells her name? Shouldn't it be Lou (short for Louise), since the other brings quite different connotations to mind? Just asking.

And Benedict has apparently worn the same shirt to the readings three years running. It may be his lucky one, but I hope he bought at least half a dozen, in that case!
