Oh, it seems like only yesterday sfmpco was pacing up and down waiting for the happy event

And most of the rest of the fandom.

I wish they would identify who wrote some of those, I feel like I'm missing something.

He's really good at it, isn't he?

You're right about his. No idea.  But with hers, I do know.  The woman who wrote that letter is on Twitter, and this was not the first time her letter has been read, but it was the first time being read by Sophie, and she was quite humbled by that.

Unfortunately, some idiot fan (I use the term "fan" loosely and the term "idiot" with a lot of urgency) decided to send her some links to hater sites.  Needless to say, that was quite an uproar.  It has all calmed down now and apparently apologies have been made, but good grief.  To lose a child to cancer and be able to share your thoughts in a letter and then to have the whole Ben/Sophie-hater pot stirred, is just horrific.

I am glad I am not on twitter! And what is it all about! Sometime in their life most people get engaged or married. Idiots!

I like Benedict's accent as he's reading.  And that letter is funny.

News parody show that Ben was on a couple of times, years ago. Very funny, check it out.

Radio Times makes an interesting point about Mr. Cumberbatch's movie posters.

A few days ago Mark Gatiss plugged the beginning of Sherlock filming with a picture of the back of Benedict Cumberbatch’s head, and we all assumed it was just as it appeared – a playful suggestion of the series’ return.
But now it’s becoming clear that it was anything but a one-off, and was instead the continuation of an unsettling trend that could have repercussions for us all. For some reason, in the promotional material for his recent films, Benedict Cumberbatch loves showing us his back.

Follow the link above to see the posters in question.

I have always presumed it is because the movie promoters know the fans all go wild for that little curl on the back of his neck. Works for me. :d

But there's no little curl visible in any of those posters!  Most of the characters have high collars (though not sure about Khan), and Alan Turing has a 40's haircut.

Like that theory and it is plausible.  Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing that it's plausible.

Oh, sure, spoil my fun.

... and Alan Turing has a 40's haircut.

Nevertheless, the little curl is there. Believe me, I've looked.

Also works for me. You have no idea how often I was tempted to steal the Sherlock poster out of the Walmart.

Because I'm in that kind of mood, I just spent the past 15 minutes looking at random movie posters. I found 15 (one per minute! ) that showed the featured player from the back. Here's the list:

Rocky

Endless Summer

Forrest Gump

Dark Knight Rises

Drive

All 3 Hobbit movies

Resident Evil: Extinction

Big Wednesday

Unforgiven

American Graffiti

Dr. Strangelove (!)

The Searchers

Akira

Woodstock

Alice in Wonderland

There MUST be a connection. (It's a conspiracy!)

Ahahaha.....I didn't know he was in it. In the scene he looks like one of my former buddies from the goth-community (he only had blonde hair and was way shorter than Benedict)... :lol5:

Awwww, how sweet is this....

batchofkindness:

As of the morning of June 15, we’re now up to 239 people in 49 different countries committed to celebrating Benedict Cumberbatch’s upcoming 40th birthday with acts of kindness! It’s a fun day of coming together in celebration of fan culture and the friendships we’ve made via social media, and in doing so, making the world a little brighter (and hopefully making the kindness contagious…the goal is never to limit it to one day!).
Responses have slowed a bit (which is typical) so we’d love to get the word out to more fans! The more people who participate, the more fun, so thank you for reblogging, retweeting, sharing, etc!
