Wouldn't you say that at least some of the photos look like somebody made them hiding in the shrubs? Setlock strikes again? As if professional paparazzis weren't enough...

Agreed, some shots did look like they were taken from the shrubs.  I wouldn't mind a legitimate, official shot that was naturally framed by plant matter. But I would want that to be released by Benedict's & Sophie's people not leaked out by whomever decided to share it.

Here are a couple more bits on Ben and Sophie... they should be heading to the USA now.  After all, he's appearing on Jimmy Kimmel on 2/16.

MAJOR ALERT: To those easily offended!

God you can go off people...a blessing?

When just been married?!

What the heck is all that about?!

Actors performing roles.....

I hate humanity!

It was as bad as Karon calling it 'magical'...get a life!

:wtf:  :soapbox:  :hijacked:

Being only a couple of years away from our Ruby Wedding - 40 years together - I can't really share the cynicism regarding marriage, though I certainly don't feel it is compulsory for a happy relationship. One of my kids is married, the other isn't, and it doesn't really make any difference to the strength of their relationships, the security of their children, etc. It's a personal thing - Benedict & Sophie obviously agree, as I do, with The Proclaimers' lyric - "Yeah, it's just a piece of paper but it says 'I love you.'" If they feel that way, then why not? And why not choose Valentine's Day if they feel it's symbolic?

The Isle of Wight is a funny choice, though. Some of it is really lovely in summer, but in February? Not the first place that springs to mind.

I think we got lost around Mottistone when we went on a country walk there, years ago when our children were little. Nice little village, if I remember rightly.

I should explain that I have been married for nearly 30 years!

I was Christian at the time, but even then I didn't actually believe in marriage...it was my husband who wanted to.

The service was sweet but unnecessary I felt.

I certainly haven't stayed with my husband because of a Christian ceremony.

I am now totally atheist and he is virtually so...

I wouldn't do it now.

My son is in a stable relationship with a nice Italian nominally Catholic girl...

We were just discussing marriage yesterday.

Ironically she doesn't want to, but she informs me my son quite likes the idea...bloody romantic men in my family!

My daughter was in a committed, serious relationship when she was too young and it went wrong...I don't know if she's been put off for life!

On the Hunterbatch wedding venue...apparently because of Sophie.

She being descendant of some ancient lord or such like.

Sigh.

Dear sfmpco, thanks for sharing the interview, he is obviously a man of his word in all things, although I couldn't help sniggering at the Q suggestion, it was SO Star Trek the Next Generation, but I was particularly moved by his wearing his wedding ring on his left hand, which my Dad did for his whole life, even after he became a widower and there was no practical point to it! Of course, if and when S4 starts filming, he will have to remove it and keep it safe, since Sherlock is  famously married to his work!

I wasn't even thinking Q from ST:TNG.  I was thinking Q from the Bond films.

Oh, both Q types are geniuses at what they do, but the StarTrek one has a lot more in common with the playful villain in his overbearing manner, and the whole Q Continuum is a lot more fun than the other Q's gadgets, and, of course, the letter stands for Quartermaster in the Fleming universe.

P. S. Dear sfmpco, thanks for sharing!

WHAT? OH MY GOD. I need to know whether they'll show it in my country and if so, how, when and where I can see it. I have to see this. Hamlet is the only Shakespeare play I really like, and I would do an awful lot to hear those lines in that voice.

Wow -- is it normal for them to announce an NT Live broadcast before the actual play even opens?

Posted

Not sure, but they announced several weeks back that they were looking into broadcasting it, now we have at least some of the details.

Posted

The thing is, it shouldn't deter people from buying tickets or regretting ticket purchase.  There is NOTHING like seeing a live performance, especially if it is of a favorite or very well known actor.  One should always go.  I will always regret NOT getting a ticket to see Robert Goulet perform as King Arthur in Camelot when I had the chance.

I'm looking forward to seeing it via NT Live and taking my son to it. (now praying that my favorite artist doesn't end up having a concert in MN that night.)

I came around to post this. Looking forward to watching it, although it's very far away. Good thing I'm moderately patient.
