He can draw/paint too?! Oh c'mon... To quote Jon Stewart: "I guess it'd be the wrong time to ask you to marry me. I wish you were at least less talented, or at least would lean over and whisper 'I have eight nipples.' Something that would help me get over this cat."

This article included (what they claim to be) two self-portraits that he drew for charity fundraisers:

BenedictCumerbatchportrait2PT.jpg

I don't consider the article itself to be worth reading, though.  It's full of asinine conjectures like claiming that the second drawing depicts him as "a glum, unemployed Victorian-era poet with dirty hair and an impoverished soul" -- whereas the drawing itself is clearly labeled as "BC [as] SH."

Carol will probably throw me right on the rant thread for this, but I DO wish you lot would listen to what everybody concerned in our favourite show says about themselves: in at least two interviews BC, (I am not going to use the confusing capitalised pronoun) has said that he was at Harrow on an Arts scholarship and his speciality was painting large canvases.  Not that I find his self-portrait particularly reassuring, it has got an aura of gloomy introspection about it quite out of keeping with his on-camera manic energy.

Sherlock would probably say: "Oh, DO your research!"

I knew he painted oil on canvas. It's in a few of his online bios that exist as well as the artwork coming up in interviews.

Oil on canvas is definitely a huge time commitment... so much so that i eventually switched to acrylics.  Waiting for something to dry can be killer.

My knowledge of actors is limited to what I find on forums and other forms of social media (Tumblr, Twitter).  I very rarely seek out this info, I just wait for it to come to me.   ;)

It brings a smile when some suddenly discover what others have known all along.

The thing is, some people are relatively new to the fandom, so have some catch up to do...we're not all old timers!

This is not neatly amusing as those outside the fandom trying to be kind and send you articles and things with: 'have you seen this' or ' did you know?'...when I always have and do!

Those who live in the fandom and have for a while live more in the present... always seeking what is fresh and new.  We know the old stuff. :)

Now that you have spent a fortune on the annotated originals, you will not miss the insider jokes, that's for certain. The rest is for the scriptwriters to know and for us to discover when the special and the next series air.

I didn't feel like $15 was a fortune...

Wow. Now that's what I call successful bargain hunting!:applause:

I still forget about eBay when I'm looking for small stuff, I guess I always assume the postage will cost more than it's worth. Clearly I need to rethink my thinking.....

Well, I don't know that it's as much that I'm a newbie (just discovered Sherlock this past summer), but that I'm lazy and generally uninterested.  lol.  I care for info on actors to the point that it's humorous (they've done or said something funny and entertaining), or related to a role they are playing.  Other than those things, I'm generally blase about their personal lives.

Also look on Amazon.  That's where I got my used set.

Ben will be in attendance at the BAFTAs this weekend.

This should be The Imitation Game, and I shall keep my fingers crossed for these as well as for next week. He works so hard that it's worrying. At his present pace, I can only repeat what I said about his role in Star Trek: "Live long and prosper", because it is rather frightening when you look at all the things he is going to be involved in over this year and the next. At least, they should give him time to be a proper father and enjoy watching the baby or babies growing, because the first year is the most nerve-racking as adjustment but in retrospect, the most fun. But for that, he shall need to be around, and not in some studio or other.

I will say, in case this group doesn't know it yet, that he is no longer attached to star in THE LOST CITY OF Z.  I saw that one coming from a mile off.

Oh, amen! I never liked the sound of it. (And I admit, I'm rather dreading Black Mass.) What about the other 247 projects he was involved in, and how the heck do you know these things?
