So A to Z is actually the whole thing, as compared to The Collected Series, which is only series 1-3?  And each storyline's title begins with a subsequent letter of the alphabet (like Sue Grafton's novels)?  Have I got that straight?

Just perfect! That whole scene explains the deleted scene from HLV! Who would not covet his hands after that little stunt? So, added to  the voice we now have the hands to think about. Mrs C is one lucky lady, that's for sure, and when the baby is born healthy with God's help, there will be those extremely sensitive hands to hold and fondle and play with it.

I wonder, is he playing a mentally retarded person in this film, because what he does with the beetle is what we used to do as children to ladybird and spiders, although ladybirds tended to weary quite early on and deploy their wings.

Going back to nicotine, there is absolutely no reason to get stains on your fingers these days, there are so many filters and cigarette pipes available for men and women alike that nicotine stains are antediluvian. And his fingers are always in perfect condition in close-ups, like his handshake with Moriarty, his handling of the champagne glass and the teacup in SoT and his preparations for tea when Moriarty comes calling in The Fall. Even Ian Fleming had one back in the fifties, he is photographed holding it in all Pan Book paperbacks. Even Jeremy Brett never had anything but perfect hands in the Granada series, and he is said to have smoked three packets a day.
