Tonight's trivia at my semi-local coffee shop ended up in a discussion of Sherlock and telling the barista that she can totally watch Sherlock in 1-2 days and still get done in time to watch S4 on PBS. It helped that the trivia answer was Sherlock Holmes (& by default Dr Watson as it was going literary vs tv).

When you stay up until 4AM, sleep until noon, and spend the WHOLE rest of the day on your sofa, glued to your laptop. Hungry.

And this even BEFORE you have seen TLD twice.

Really, taking the next whole week free might be a very good idea. :D

I think I need some time off as well. I wasn't very productive at work today and I felt like shit. But I refuse to call in sick if the sickness was self-inflicted. That's just not right.

But what if it was Sherlock-inflicted, does that count?

I know what you mean, minx ... I can't remember the last time I experienced such a mixture of anticipation and dread before! Well ... maybe last week. :d

When you don't watch any other TV or movies for weeks while a Sherlock series is running... and a good while after it has finished, because nothing else matters is as good! So you spend your spare time rewatching episodes, writing fanfiction and making fan-vids...

Boy, I am really crazy!

When you find yourself telling people "It is what it is..." -- which is not a phrase I normally use ...

It's always nice to come to this thread and laugh at your faces about how crazy you guys are for the series. Tsk.. tsk.. :cowdance:

OH you don't recognize me?

Probably because I have been working out!, walking five more steps a day.

Thank you! You shouldn't have...

Argh... I am falling behind catching up with S4 threads again.

This frustration equals obsession, yes?

YES!

So I feel like I've been in a blissful bubble for the last three years - blissfully ignorant of what might happen in s4, but now that S4 has come and gone without any predictable hope of S5, the bubble is gone.  I'd almost rather be back waiting for S4 again.  It was a nice, comfortable place to be.

Oi, not me, I can only take the suspense for so long and then I start to shut down. I'm a little sad, but not as sad as I was afraid I would be. Not shattered like I was after HLV. Thank goodness.

Me too. Heck of a thing to say about my (still) favorite show, but it could have been much worse. I actually liked one of the episodes and thought another wasn't too bad. Who knows, I might eventually get used to the other one.

Plus I take hope from that little epilog. It looks like, if they eventually do more episodes, they might be more in the vein of S1-S2. I'd like that very much. :D

(If any of that's a spoiler, would someone please hide it?)

Oh sweet children of summer, you could always become fans of A Song of Ice and Fire (the original book series of Game of Thrones). We've been waiting since freakin' 2000 for Tyrion and Dany to finally meet (that was the last year when a book wherein something actually happened came out). It's still not clear when the next one will be released, since it keeps getting postponed since 2014 (I think), and the way things are going I'm not sure I'll live long enough to see the last and final one of the series.

Think about it - decades and decades of hopeful waiting, never having to enter Book Limbo because the next one is always beyond the horizon. ;)

Bite your tongue! The Sherlock fandom has been agony enough for a lifetime, thank you! :p

I actually feel fine. I don't think S4 is the ending, eventhough there is no S5 yet in horizon.

There is no formal announcement that this is the last season (no, rite?), the network will pick it up anytime, the actors don't say they will quit it forever.

They have good fan base. Forgive my limited knowledge, but is there other specialize con out there for one TV show? I don't know any other similar to Sherlocked.

A big chunk of the fans are stable adults who are most likely to be loyal (I might talking from my backside here without proper statistic). Everything looks good for future.

A bit of break is good, well, for us, two years 'break' is already agonizing, but they had less of break time.

More break would be great for them. At current time, I keep on worrying that Sherlock has become too big, the creators and actors have too much pressure and have less fun doing the series. With long hiatus, hopefully they can get back the original passion (I never say they have lost it) but it would feel fresher and more motivating for them. The actors are allowed to explore more other work opportunities so they don't look at Sherlock as a hinder.

One fine day, everyone will be happy to do it again.

Too much hope? Maybe. But I'm quite optimistic. I'd rather wait than seeing it destroyed. Good things are made with good mood.

Well, of course, the hiatus will be muchhhh longeeeerrr and we (*cough*me!*cough*) will get even more crazier. When S5 is announced, we (*cough*me!*cough*) would probably be the zombified version of what we are now.

But I think I'm fine.

Or could it be that the fact that you think you are fine proves that you are not fine? :lol5:

Hey! I tried to hide that!

Clever, clever, are you?!

But I am actually fine.:tongue2::tongue3: For now.

But when everyone is leaving and I am the only one here still hoping that Sherlock is relevant, buried among all the spiderwebs and used straightjackets, that is when I am not.

We won't be gone, we'll just be trapped in the spiderwebs.

You known your obsession is bad when you use a gift certificate you got for Christmas to the local theater to see "The Final Problem."  At first it was just me and an older guy sitting several rows behind me, and I greeted him with "Hello, Sherlockian!"  We chatted briefly until others came into the theater, and then we returned to our own worlds.

How were the reactions?

You are obesessed when you brows around a hardware store and think about Arwel and the Wallpapers. And there are glass panels like those in the kitchen at 221b
