As long as you don't shoot the wall... :D

There would be serious ramifications not just legal ones as I'm at a clinic for mental health issues not physical health issues.

When you realize that you haven't looked into Hamlet tickets for the cinema broadcast & your computer freezes in the process for a few minutes then you get to the ticketing site & it acts like tickets aren't for sale yet even though that should have started already. Yet when you explore the site further, you find the tickets to order them.

That poor dear girl will come out of the class traumatised or something! This time we were discussing "consequences" as a synonym for "ramifications", prompted by the Moffatt article on what we have all missed, and there was some pretty wild guesswork going on, when she piped up "Does that have anything to do with "subsequent?"...

It does, actually. Both "consequence" and "subsequent" come from the same Latin root word, meaning "to follow." So both a consequence and a subsequent event follow the original event -- though in the case of "subsequent," a causal connection is not necessarily implied.

Nope, nope, nope, no way! Do you actually like that wallpaper motif? The one in the hallway is even worse!

I guess that's why wallpaper stores have such big catalogs!  When you say "the one in the hallway," if you're referring to the bamboo-leaf design in the stairwell -- that's my favorite in the whole place.  Back in the 70's, the house I lived in had a similar design in the bathroom, and I really liked it there -- bamboo loves water, and all that.  (But I'm not much of a wallpaper person, so I've never had it in any house since.)

As for That Wallpaper, even though I must admit it's nothing I'd care to have in my house, I nevertheless associate the design very fondly with Sherlock, and have bought a pendant (similar to J.P.'s) and a Tshirt featuring it.

Dear Carol, the connotation of the word would give the root, so the whole explanation would probably have taken up more valuable teaching time than is permitted in a modern, technologically advanced interactive-board class!

As for the wallpaper motifs, each to their own, I should think!

The bamboo pattern?  If Alex and I were wallpaper people, it'd be tempting to have that in our stairwell -- but we're not.  Thanks for the offer, though -- and if you happen to have the link handy, you might post it in case someone else is interested.

Well I feel a bit like Sherlock in Sign of Three at the moment.

The space bar on my lap top has died.

So I have both my lap top and this net book open and I am going from one to the other!

I would like to see that, actually. :D

When you are supposed to be planning your November NaNoWriMo piece and instead decide to start writing the idea you have for a Sherlock fanfic.

...when I put all the Sherlock buttons I just got through Ebay onto my purse in HOPES that someone will see them and strike up a conversation...and maybe, just maybe, I'll connect with a fan...

Talking about the hallway wallpaper, anyone contemplating buying that leaf pattern should actually go to a shop that sells the ugly stuff. It is grainy, textured, not smooth, perhaps because Mrs Hudson wants something she can wipe clean after her eccentric lodger's many explosive experiments, it is of an indifferent cream background with the leaf motif done in drab olive green. It also seems to be a London favourite, since the B & B off Edgware Road was entirely furnished with it. Having to stare at the sheer repetitive drabness for any length of time was mind-numbing. However does Sherlock tolerate it and instead takes his boredom out on the almost Liberty-like pattern above the couch, I cannot understand!

On the other hand, it is a really bad obsession on my part when I am doing a lesson on blogs, and a curly- haired (blond) from Nantes is named Benoit and I immediately think of BC!

... when you can choose a random piece from the soundtrack and know exactly what happened on screen while it played. The other day, my husband came in and wanted to talk to me, and I said hush, not now - Sherlock is waking up! Because I was just listening to that part where he opens his eyes in His Last Vow after having been left for dead in the OR.

...when you're listening to the soundtrack and you hear the bit where he's on the rooftop in TEH and looking over London... and you're waiting for "Donde Esta Yolanda" to begin, but it doesn't....

And what was your husband's reaction?

He's used to me... He just rolled his eyes and waited patiently until the music was over. (You know your Sherlock obsession is bad when your spouse just takes it for granted).

Thanks, J.P. -- looks like most of those sites have the fleur-de-lis pattern in four colors, but apparently the Dark Chocolate is what's at 221B.  Is that Dandelion pattern actually used on Sherlock?  Where?

I must admit I would prefer it in a more cheerful color scheme -- on television, it often looks almost two-tone gray.  Do you happen to know what it's called?

Alex knows by now that he's not allowed to talk during the Waltz for John and Mary.  :whip:

When an everyday problem immediately remind you to a scene where Mrs. Hudson scold and give unsolicited advice about what is actually not her place to butt in. That incident forever marred my fondness for her character.

Also... someone told me today that those who expect to be constantly fed with ready-made solution won't be able to stand me for long. Apparently I tend to guide people to reach their own conclusion in the name of teaching them to be independent and self-sufficient. Immediately my thought went to the scene where Sherlock in mind Palace see Mycroft as some sort of teacher who guide him to a conclusion. Not that I am like Mikey (I am much more mischievous :p) but I can understand why Mycroft took that kind of stance to the point of Sherlock internalizing it.

When you have to google Benedict as Sherlock in his open Belstaff coat to get the look you want for a self-portrait that includes the open coat (sorry no iconic scarf) as a nod to your inner-sherlock with a t-shirt that gives a nod to your favorite musician.

And then you edit the post to include the final product :)

When you're watching a promo for your NBA basketball team & see a player named Wiggins and the 1st thing to come to mind is Wiggins from Sherlock.
