Little too mean for my taste, I'm afraid. Rats, I was hoping I'd find it funny.

Is it bad that I found it funny. It practically slammed Moftiss without actually slamming them. It also explained the broad vague storyline of both shows.

I'm going to have to remember plot cul-de-sac.

Loved it!  And didn't think it was particularly mean as parodies go.

Mean? What do you mean "mean"? It was hilariously funny, and a good way to, as the Americans say, take the Mike out of the pompousness of both their main characters! Serve them right for daring to say that they plan to be filming in 2083 even in jest!

Ah, folks, don't mind me, I never have cared for caricature.

Remind me never to draw a funny picture of you, then!  :P

Oh, good -- we can be ignorant together!

The direction you swipe in the app is the way of saying yes or no to a potential match. Left swipes are a no apparently.

A new event, via Sherlockology:

BBC Prom 41: Sherlock Holmes – A Musical Mind

from that web page:

This Proms matinee celebrates music that conjures up the world of Sherlock Holmes: works by Paganini, Lassus and Wagner which Conan Doyle tells us Holmes loved, and the film and TV scores written for him – from Miklós Rózsa’s The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes to David Arnold and Michael Price’s music from the BBC’s Sherlock series starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Special guests include Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss, as well as mezzo-soprano Christine Rice, who explores the repertoire of Holmes’s nemesis, the opera singer Irene Adler.

Good article, but I wonder if Sherlock actually would. He comes across as more into classical music than current American Pop. If he didn't know the earth revolved around the sun, why would he be interested in American pop? I could see that he's heard of some of the current popular artists because of his interactions with Molly but that's about it.

Classical doesn't even begin to describe it : Wagner, at the end of The Red Circle, anything violin centred from Vivaldi to Paganini, even Gregorian chant in the guise of the Polyphonic Mottets of Lassus! What bugs me, another Wagnerian enthusiast, is that in his Desert Island choices Benedict picked the introduction of Tristan and Isolde! Actual bodily harm has been inflicted for much less than this affront to a genius's complete work! But to each their own, or as Mrs Hudson would say "live and let live, that's my motto"!

I just had a further thought to the pop music thing.  Watching TSOT and Sherlock has no idea who Madonna is.  Last I knew, she's still popular.  That helps to solidify that he probably doesn't know jack squat about American pop music.

Not just American pop music, either -- according to Wikipedia, Madonna "... became one of the five founding members of the UK Music Hall of Fame."

I agree.  Wouldn't be his thing.

Ha, I was just going to post that myself, but couldn't quite figure out where to put it. Finally decided this was the place, only to discover you beat me to it ... great minds think alike!!!

And it was posted Saturday by sfmpco in the Holmes-related Miscellany thread as well.

I'm placing this article here because it is an interview with Moffat about SHERLOCK but it specifically deals with writing and fan fiction.
