Not just a Sherlock article, but it surely applies to the Sherlock writers (and they have that nice photo of Victorian John and Sherlock):

Crime writers are the victims

Comments on the difficulties that crime-fiction writers have nowadays, thinking up crimes that forensic science can't solve in about three minutes!

Does that mean that NSY have re-baptised their computer database system? Because it was named after Sherlock Holmes when it was first introduced.

The article says nothing about that, but I doubt it -- even though Holmes's scientific methods have been surpassed, he is still honored as the father of forensic science.

If you can't get 12/12, I'm not sure you've even seen!

I don't recall seeing this part before:

Mark Gatiss has repeatedly tried to persuade Moffat that Mycroft should have gadgets and tricks hidden inside his umbrella, but to date has always failed

Well, who says there aren't any? Mycroft just haven't used them yet. :P

Found this little collection about umbrellas. Sorry for not providing a translation from Russian, but the pictures are quite self-explanatory. :D

For some reason I get the Forbidden Error so I have to cheat: you have to remove the space before ".ru" in the link below.

cytqg.beon .ru/44236-865-sherlok-vvs.zhtml

Actually, the address cytqg.beon .ru is very much worth visiting, if you want to see e.g. Una as an aerobic trainer or a collection of amazing Sherlock cakes.

There are a whole lotta things I've seen-but-not-observed on that show (e.g., what color shirt was John wearing at the Shad Sanderson Bank?).  I did get all of those 12 right, but there were some that I probably wouldn't have gotten (or wouldn't have gotten entirely correct) if I'd had to supply the answer from scratch.  The multiple-guess format was a definite help at times!

And the creator doesn't put a lot of effort to make the wrong answers not obvious.  XD

The internet scold me and ask me to think positive and not browsing this link.

I'm not joking...what is in the article?!?

!!!!!

There's some issue with linking to that site from the forum, but I haven't heard of anyone else having trouble getting to the site on their own. Did you remember to delete the space between beon and .ru?

Maybe the internet's been communing with Mycroft today.

Oh, and I have no idea what the website says, as it's all in Russian. But it has some lovely pictures on it, such as this one:

I found an hour long interview with Steven and Mark. It's quite interesting so far (15:40 min.), they talk about red herrings, Jim's comeback and why they lie to us. :D

Edited to ad: it's really good, they talk about Janine and CAM and all interesting bits. I wish there would be a transcript out there, so I could make notes and quote.

I somehow downloaded that (without knowling) onto my iPod, and listened to it going back and forth to work for a few days. It was great!

Them talking about Sherlock's emotions - did they do that before in this manner? I think it was exceptional, but well, I'm still a newbie and don't know much...

Victorian Watson -- without a mustache?  Did he really grow it so readers would know which one was him in the illustrations?  (If so, I'm glad, because that's sometimes the only way I can tell.)

Or is that just a fan collage of setlock photos -- that happens to include a shot of Martin Freeman in costume (but without the mustache)?

Gosh, sorry, I'd have to listen to it again to know what you're referring to. But Moffat has said before that he thinks Sherlock must be bursting with emotions, if that helps.

It's not a full transcript, but bits and pieces are transcribed here, if that's of any help.

I assume it's a fan collage ... who else would bother?

Yeah, me too, and I've been assuming that Mr. Freeman was simply being more comfortable between scenes.  (During the filming of John's first approach to Baker Street for "Empty Hearse," I noticed him fussing with the mustache between takes, as though it itched something awful and/or kept threatening to fall off.)

If that's the case, then it seems odd that someone would choose a mustache-less photo for their lovely collage -- unless they're a rabidly anti-mustache person, of course!

Or Dr. Watson shaves for Sherlock Holmes also in 1895. :D

PLEASE.  I'm not sure how I'm going to look at that 'stache for the full 1.5 hrs otherwise.
