Not that I'd mind some well-written John-and-Rosie stories. Just not....

Nor me, but when the names are mashed together it normally does mean...

I never even considered it a possibility! Apologies for the horrible connotations. It actually is Johnrus, I checked, or alternatively EurJohn

I am so relieved! Of course there probably is John/Rosie somewhere but the less thought about that the better.

EurJohn sounds like a personal port-a-potty.

Brain Bleach! Who's got the Brain Bleach? Quick!

I've been reading a lot of comments lately à la "what was the point of Rosie". Frankly, I don't know. I guess Mary being pregnant and John taking on the duties of a father added to Sherlock's sense of loss in The Sign of Three, because nowadays marriage alone wouldn't have been enough for Holmes to feel "abandoned" by his companion as he half-jokingly states in the original. John had more incentive not to break up with her when her deception was revealed in His Last Vow. Also, Mary being mother of a young child adds even more tragedy to her death.

Also, I guess it's at once tougher on John yet in a way better for him that he has a daughter left after his wife had died. At least he still has some kind of family.

I am relieved they did not involve Rosie in any crimes. I was afraid she would be kidnapped all the time or even killed (now, that would have been awful).

I'm glad she wasn't on any cases, but it was bit weird keeping her in when she wasn't in TLD or TRF, except right at the end. As a single father John seems remarkably untied down.

Well, I think we're just not shown all the time he spends with her. Just like we hardly ever see John at his job, yet as a doctor, he must work a lot. But these aspects of his life are hardly relevant to his adventures with Sherlock, so they aren't shown much, even though they probably take up more of his time than solving cases.

How long was the whole Sherrinford/ Homes hall part meant to take? Just a day?

It can't have been much more than that... In books and movies, there's always so much happening that it feels like much more time is passing than the story really allows for.

I can imagine the fanfics.

Euros shot John with a tranquiliser gun. The tranquiliser put John to sleep in front of Euros. What did Euros do when John was sleeping? Did she just walk away? That doesn't make any sense. Look at how she was watching him. She obviously didn't walk away. Not with John's handsome body right in front of her.  :inlove:

Euros believes Johnlock, wants to experience John the way her brother does...

That thought had not occurred to me, and considering Eurus's warped notion of "sex," I'm glad. Also, considering that John came through the experience unscathed, I'd say no, she did not "take advantage" of him.

At first I was puzzled why she would trank him in the first place, but then I realized -- once she had revealed her identity, he might have tried to restrain her or follow her, and she couldn't risk that.

To be honest I grossed myself out as soon as I typed it.

This is more a Mary question than a John one, but did anyone really care all that much when Mary died? Was anyone actually upset about it?

I wasn't, but that's because I knew death was coming for her at some point.  I always viewed her role as temporary.  And I suppose I was glad to know that the focus of subsequent stories would no longer be on protecting her.  I didn't mind her involvement, but at the same time I didn't want it to go on forever.  (HLV is such a heavy, looming episode, that I think it makes her presence seem to be more prominent than it was.)  Personally though, I liked her as a character.  I wasn't crazy about the assassin background, that seems a bit overdone in television today.  But I liked her interactions and chemistry with the group.

Not upset by Mary's death at all.  I was relieved actually.  I was only upset when she still kept showing up in the subsequent episodes lol.

Hm. Yea I wasn't bothered either. I just think if they wanted us to be upset by Mary's death, which it seems most of us weren't, they should have put in more of an effort to get us to relate to her and like her. If they didn't care if it was upsetting then why bother doing it? I know it's the impact on John and Sherlock is the important part but surely if you're going to go to the effort or introducing a character and then killing her the death scene should have some sort of impact on the audience.

Unfortunately I think the death scene was filmed in such a way that it came across as a bit... lame.  I actually snickered a little when she jumped in front of Sherlock (I know, I'm terrible).  That, for me, took away some of the emotional impact, followed by John's blaming of Sherlock.  That just made me angry at John, who I was supposed to be feeling sad for.  It could have been executed better.

I laughed at John's reaction, which I get the impression was supposed to be the really wrenching part. The instant blaming of Sherlock just made me sigh, though Sherlock's expression was a bit ouchie.

I did too.  The grunting...
