... it's possible to see a post that was originally written 1 week ago RT'd 5 minutes ago show up ahead of the new post from 6 minutes ago....

But aren't retweets marked as such -- like when we quote someone else's post here?

Yes, but easily missed and I also remembered that sometimes people delete their tweets for whatever reason.

I believe that Amanda was wearing this same shirt from previous setlock pics, so for continuity sake, the scenes would be the same day. Otherwise she'd be wearing a different shirt.

https://twitter.com/Paris_Girl/status/742136046843006976

Several people were making that point on Twitter, so apparently yes, the same day as the market scene.

So how come people on television never wear the same shirt two days in a row? (Except on Gilligan's Island, of course.)

Well, since Rachel Talalay was involved earlier this week, it is likely she isn't actually done with her episode.

Our man in London just sent me this email:

It's very late, but we had an amazing night watching filming.  As you can see in the attached photos (which you're free to post on the forum - I'm too tired) and on Twitter, the cast and producers were very friendly and came up to the fans to sign autographs and get photos taken.  Of course, this never happened to us in 2013 (just in August), but it was nice to experience that tonight.

I need to get to sleep after standing about ten straight hours.

Looks like he and his brother were standing about where he and I were in 2013 (on the northeast corner of North Gower and Euston Street -- not to be confused with Euston Road).

Geez, it's like a red carpet! Including Ian and Bunsen. According to the time of the posts, they are signing and taking pics for more than an hour now! > makes me want to get on a plane right now...

BTW, do you remember this fan-made teaser?

The maker might be into something here...

Just click on the YouTube logo in the video and you'll go directly to the video on the guy's channel.   He also has a visual  FX breakdown of how he did it.  Really done well.

Looks like he and his brother were standing about where he and I were in 2013 (on the northeast corner of North Gower and Euston Street -- not to be confused with Euston Road).

Thanks, Carol, for posting the pictures and my brief summary.  To recap in more detail, my brother and I first arrived at North Gower Street around 8:30 AM and we were told by the location manager that the actors wouldn't be showing up before 8:30 PM, so we might as well leave (which we did around 9:30 AM).  My brother told him we were expecting to see our cousin Steven about 2:00 PM and the location manager just said that we had been notified.  On the way back to North Gower Street, my brother and I stopped by Gordon Square and Malet Street, where we verified the signs we saw on Twitter were for some sort of Monday filming.  It's a good thing that we showed up at North Gower Street around 1:30 PM because when we came down Euston Street we went to the area where fans were on the north side of the street facing Speedy's Cafe.  We got moved around a little by the crew during the day to allow for vehicles moving around, but pretty much stayed in that area the entire evening.  The folks who showed up later, however, were moved from the barricades on North Gower Street by Stephenson Way that were also blocking traffic to way down North Gower Street by Drummond Street and had a terrible view of filming.  The first scenes were filmed in the afternoon and involved a bunch of extras running down North Gower Street away from Speedy's and told to "react", apparently to a non-existent explosion.  Our cousin left after a couple of hours around 4:00 PM.  The main cast didn't show up until about 10:00 PM, when a black car coming from Euston Street dropped each of them off near where we were standing a few rows from the barricades.  Meanwhile the crew had set up a crane with lights pointed at Speedy's and three tall "rain" sprayers, which they tested before filming a scene or two with the actors walking in the rain.  We were told that anyone using flash photography would be removed from the area, so all of my night photos were taken with my Motorola Android phone that has no flash.  After about a half hour of filming, Amanda Abbington, a genuine sweetheart, came over to us to get her photo taken and signed autographs.  She also was asking fans where they came from and how long they had been there.  Then in order, Steven Moffat, Sue Vertue, and Mark Gatiss came over to sign autographs and get photos taken.  Then Amanda persuaded Martin Freeman, who she came with, and Benedict Cumberbatch to come over and sign autographs and get their photos taken.  Some fans were volunteering where they were from and how long they had been there, even though MF and BC didn't ask.  Then at about 11:00 PM, the actors started leaving and the crew started putting everything away, so my brother and I headed down Euston Street over to the fortunately still open Sainsbury's Local store at Euston Station to buy a couple of big bottles of orange juice and a couple of bags of caramel chocolates - we weren't that hungry and were mostly thirsty after purposely not drinking much to avoid having to pee while standing around for ten hours.  All in all, it was a fantastic, magical night that we will never forget.  This morning we plan to check out Gordon Square and Malet Street to see if anything is going on on our way to Speedy's. :D :sherlock::violin2::applause::boing::cowdance:

Addendum: My brother Greg and I greatly enjoyed our Watson wraps, chips, and hot tea at Speedy's on another rainy morning.  On the way we verified that no Sherlock filming was going on at Gordon Square, Malet Street, or North Gower Street, so I guess our great night last night will have to do for me until Series 5 filming, when hopefully my dear Carol and I will get similar luck as what Greg and I had yesterday.  I also did not see any sign of Spiderman in North Gower Street flats as I watched the Sherlock crew finishing up returning the street to normal.

So all that just to film a couple of actors walking in the rain? Amazing.

No, it was to film *three* actors walking in the rain. ;) Apparently.

'Course, they did film some other scenes as well, such as the extras reacting to the explosion (or whatever). But yeah, it does seem odd, considering that it was supposed to be for all three episodes.

Sometimes it's hard to tell when they're filming, though, from that distance and with the whole crew milling about in between. Three years ago, Alex and I were there when they filmed four scenes, but didn't notice two of them till we watched the show.

But still .... yeah.

What I'd like to see or even read is a list of the scenes that fans noticed them filming. Alex?

The Daily Mail has (as usual) some good photos (and the little video is cute).

But (also as usual) their headline and copy are clueless.  No, the cast did not "brave foul weather" -- they turned on the rain machine.  Which explains how Martin Freeman miraculously managed to stay dry (he wasn't in that scene).  And the reader comments are even worse, blaming Benedict Cumberbatch for whining about the weather, when they're actually quoting whoever wrote the headline.

And Radio Times has a neat map showing filming locations in Bristol for all series to date.  Too bad Alex didn't have that last week!

Rachael Talalay even posted that "fan video" and remarked how fabulous it was!

Scenes that I saw:

1.  pedestrians walking in front of 221b/Speedy's react to "something" and run away

2.  BC and woman in red come out of 221b, in the rain, and walk under Speedy's tarp and then away together

3.  MF runs out the door of 221b, Mrs Hudson calls to him and throws him keys, MF catches the keys then runs/walks fast off the other way down the street

There was filming around the corner lastly.... all I saw was BC standing still on the sidewalk w/ coat on...

all this just from Ruther's tweets and periscope

The headline is funny and fitting. But the rest of the text isn't. :D

BTW, I noticed that the Red Lady has a cane. Does it in any way allude to the canon?

There's conjecture that she's Lady Frances Carfax, though near as I recall -- well, let's just say she wouldn't have been walking with a cane.  Could still be some sort of adaptation, though.

The problem with the headline is that "Why does it always rain on me?" sounds like it's meant to be taken as a quote from Cumberbatch -- and it most certainly is taken that way in a number of reader comments that criticize the posh git for whining about a little rain -- whereas there's no indication within the article that they even spoke with him.

My best guess is that the paper sent only a photographer, and then a copywriter simply picked the most dramatic eight shots and made up a story to fit.

Yeah, it seemed like such little filming if they plan to cover "Baker Street" exterior scenes for all three Series 4 episodes.  My guess is that the scene with BC and the woman in red was for episode 2 because he still has his scruffy beard, the Martin Freeman and Una Stubbs scene was for episode 1 or 3, and the scene with the extras fleeing the "explosion" was for the episode that the MF/US scene wasn't for, unless I've missed something else they filmed (which as Carol indicated from our 2013 Setlock experience is not too hard to do if you have some obstruction in the way).

I must admit that I only really noticed them filming the scene with the "explosion" and extras and the scene with BC and the woman in red.  They are very efficient and fast at filming multiple takes of a scene when they have everything set up and since me and Greg were a few rows from the barricades, there were several people blocking our view at times.

Yes, some nice photos from the Daily Mail article, but I agree completely with Carol that the "content" of the article is, as they say here, complete rubbish,  There were a few brief showers during the day, but really none during the late filming with the main actors present and all of the "rain" that got BC wet came solely from the "rain" sprayers.

As I said earlier, we saw scenes 1 & 2, but missed scene 3 (Ruther and the fan with the video must have had an unobstructed view from just behind the barricades). :(

Thanks for posting the personal reports/pictures/ video. Seems like it's a very good vibe going on there during the current filming, which is heartwarming. :) And it makes me look forward to the new episodes.

Especially as Benedict is now 'quite famous' and seems just so lovely and takes so much time to sign stuff for everybody, I think this makes a lot of people happy. He handles all so well, which I think can be a lot to manage sometimes. (I know I myself would go nuts,haha...)

The video reminds me a bit of last tuesday when there was the euro premiere of 'Orange is the new black' - and I was curious - it was here just a couple of tram stations away, so I checked the location, and I didn't expect anything, because the last time I was at such an event it was the last 'Lord of the Rings' premiere in Berlin...but then there were Kate Mulgrew and Lea DeLaria coming over signing autographs and later Selenis Levya and Uzo Aduba. Unfortunately they did mostly just sign the stuff in the front (and as I am tall I have the habit to let the smaller people in the front so they can see better...), so I didn't get any autographs on my DVD cover I had packed (just in case :P ), but a few pictures. which was cool, especially since I looove Kate Mulgrew already from Star Trek, and she is just amazing as Red in OITNB - she seemed to be so natural and friendly, like Benedict in the video too. ;) And Selenis was totally cute, like she was happy to meet fans and all, maybe it's the 'latina spirit', but I liked her in an instant as she was beaming like the fans herself. :D

There were Dascha Polanco and Yael Stone too, but they just let themselves get driven to the entrance and just shortly waving, whatever...I caught a shirt later (the promoters came out a couple of minutes later and threw orange football shirts to the fans with autographs on them) with Daschas autograph on it. Which is nice, but I think it would have been cooler from her if she had given them out personally and give people the chance to say Hi and thank you or something, you know what I mean? Made me think a bit how different people deal with all that...

Anyway, it's great that the Sherlock Crew lets people be part of it and that everybody is so welcoming obviously, and thank you for reporting for us, Alex! (I know I would be too tired to report so soon after standing somewhere for hours and all that...that's one of the reasons why I gave up reporting for music fanzines many years ago... :P ) So big thumbs up for you and your brother too!

Ya think?

God, people are so ugly sometimes ... why? What do they get out of it? I'm in a funk about humanity today anyway, I so do not need to read all that ... stuff ... in the Daily Mail....

PS - what little video? Do you mean the one with Mark? I could use something cute and little right about now. Maybe I'll go adopt a kitten.

I like a good dry sense of humor most of the time.  Personally I don't care to have Johnlock in the show.  If people want it in fanfic, then fine.  I much prefer a good old-fashioned bromance (which seems to be the case in the show) as defined on Dictionary.com: A relationship or friendship between to men that is extremely close but does not involve sex.

Well, I was wrong about Sherlock not being filmed at Gordon Square because they are there filming right now and I observed Sherlock sitting in a bus stop chatting with the woman in red and walking out to see a drone fly by and land across the street from him.  This was far from me, but I got a few pictures, including this one with Sherlock and the woman in red sitting in the bus stop by the church.  I suspect better pictures will appear on Twitter #setlock. :D :boing::cowdance:

... or not.   So far I haven't heard anyone mention Amanda Abbington being in a scene.  I heard they had been filming in Bristol earlier in the day, so maybe they all rode back together, and she came to North Gower with the others just to be friendly.  Nice!

Loo tweeted this and Amanda responded, so I think we can assume Amanda is in all 3 episodes.

Sounds like another Episode 3, all righty.  :sofa:
