Nope, not seen that before, thanks sfmpco. :D

Am I imagining Gatiss and Moffat tensing whenever Amanda speaks or does anyone else see it to?

I played Amanda's bits while watching the boys, and no, I don't see any change in their demeanor at all. In this video. For some reason I have gotten that impression in other videos, though. I'd have to watch them again to see if I can pinpoint why. Not right now, however; right now I can barely stay awake. Long day. :sofa2:

Pure smoke and mirrors that interview! Mr Moffat must have worked for the KGB Directorate for Propaganda and Disinformation in a previous life, perhaps directly under Felix Dzersinsky or Beria, when it was still the GPU!

To what end, Inge?  To what end are the boys playing smoke and mirrors?

Earnest question from me.  I can no longer "read" them or what they say.  Is it a bluff?  a double bluff?  or a triple?  I'm now lost.

I think it's partly because they know the fans are good at picking up clues, and they don't want to spoilerize us, because most people who watch detective shows (or even shows about detectives) actually prefer to be surprised.

I think it's also because they're a couple of little boys playing in their clubhouse, and they love to say "Ha! We fooled you!"

Boy - we've been so silent on these pages lately.  I thought I better post the release photo. Well, a version of it.   See if anyone out there is still alive

There's something really odd about that photo, like it's been photoshopped within an inch of it's life. Yea, it could be the angle, but I get the feeling John's neck has been trimmed down because it is tiny. Sherlock's head also seems a bit too big for his body, though I can't quite put my finger on why, I don't think it's just the hair.

Thank you! That's what I've been saying, over here: http://www.sherlockforum.com/forum/topic/1916-series-4-news/?p=104463. Although as Carol pointed out, it's like that photo on the bench from TSo3, which I assume was not photoshopped. Either way, it's really bugging me!

PS -- From certain angles BC's head does look unusually large, I think. No, it's mostly Martin that looks the wrong size to me. Like he's been squished sideways......

It's weird that bench scene, even in the actual episode Sherlock looks massive compared to John, it's like a shot from the Hobbit. Yea I see what you mean about Martin being squished, his head is too narrow, like they were trying to slim him down and it went slightly wrong.

It is perspective: they are shot one behind the other, not next to each other, and the wall behind them could be a simple split-screen, but I cannot fathom why.

I watched Martin nekkid and in the shower in "Start Up" which was filmed just before Setlock 4 --  he has lost weight and bulked up muscle since '13 and Setlock 3.  It looks like Amanda has too as well.  I'm thinking they both decided to diet and hire a trainer kind of thing.  I think MF is that small actually, petite.  There are plenty of stock photos of him and BC, him and Mofftiss and BC, etc where he is most definitely petite-appearing by comparison.

It's because BC got the Emmy nomination.  :P

Actually, it looks like his head is tilted way forward, which would make it slightly closer to the camera.  So I suspect it's due to some camera lens or setting that exaggerates the perspective, almost like what Inge said.

Here's the photo I was referencing for MF's size

What is striking to me is how much older BC looks in that photo.  While they were Photoshopping this thing to death, they could have softened the forehead lines and gotten rid of the under-eye bags.  [Ducks to avoid rotten vegetables hurled by the fandom.]

Boton - I agree w/ you.  BC did look ... well, his age in this photo.  That's a decision.  They were able to light him to look like a 10 year old at times in TAB (playing violin bit comes to mind) so this was a choice.  Or else a new photog made mistakes... he is not their usual professional photographer, Viglasky.

Yea I was surprised how old he looks since he's only just turned forty, iffy lighting for wrinkles maybe?

Boy, are we ever bored! We need some new setlock photos, or something! A new conspiracy theory? Something!

Again, yeah, he's shorter, but width wise, he's not that different than the two beanpoles on either side of him in this photo. Although we can't really see his shoulders. Anyway, there's enough of a change between this photo and the new one to get our attention, isn't there?

Oh look, he's buttoned up here too.... :p

I think BC looks all different ages at all different times anyways. He just has one of those faces. And the lighting in the new photo is quite harsh.

Very true, I've noticed him looking like a wide-eyed teenager and a haggard old guy in the same episode.

Perhaps I'm showing how uncool and unhip I am here but... did Gatiss accidentally cut off the bottom of his tie? I don't like it, it weirds me out  :o

Looking at the original photo again, it's a slightly frowny, penetrating (ahem) look he has going on which probably explains the forehead lines and why it would look weirder if they were photoshopped out.

It's probably a knit tie. They tend to be blunt on the end like that. Not my favorite tie shape either, but I've seen some really nice colors and patterns.

That's what it looks like to me, yeah. But it's not a large stitch like for mittens, more of a medium size stitch, and presumably done by machine rather than by hand.

Knit ties are sold by some perfectly respectable shops. I believe they're supposed to be for a casual summer look.

Apparently knit ties are now made in a wide variety of colors, and so can be worn year-round. You can google "Everything You Need to Know About Knitted Ties" for a brief tutorial from GQ.

Bored, we are. Bored, bored. XD Somebody find me a gun, I'm gonna spray paint the wall.

I'm not bored, a discussion on ties is the pinnacle of scintillating conversation and debate.

Sherlock's normal look screams GQ to me more than a knitted tie but ah well, each to their own. Gatiss and GQ are as welcome to their dubious fashion choices as I'm welcome to mine. :)

Though I am now imagining Sherlock's reaction to a knitted tie. And Mycroft's. :D

And we now have a reliable method for distinguishing between Mark Gatiss and Mycroft Holmes!

Hang in there, Arcadia. By just about everybody's best guess, Series 4 should premiere a paltry four months from today.
