With the proven success of Series 1 - 3 on TV and the proven financial success of TAB in the movie theaters as well as on TV, I have no doubt whatsoever that BBC will pay for Sherlock 5.  And if they didn't for some (Brexit anyone?) reason then Hartswood could EASILY get funding elsewhere.....

My money is on Moriarity as having "the twin"  <--- actual twin or sibling close enough in age/ looks as to be a twin.  This is who we saw getting off the helicopter on the beach IMHO.

The Sherrinford clue worries me

So then who is "the other one"?

The Other One could easily be the 3rd Holmes brother, as per "canon" -- just not "a twin".

So Moriarty has a lookalike -- possibly a twin, possibly just a sibling, possibly just a lookalike. AND Sherlock and Mycroft have / had a third sibling. Is that about where we seem to be?

Maybe it's *always* twins?

Carol -- well, that's where I am at.  And I"m willing to lock in to that position.  Bets anyone?

Arcadia -- LOL!

OK, then -- maybe a manufactured twin.  But isn't that just a tad too cheesy for Moftiss?

HA HA!  That made me laugh out loud!  Too cheesy ?  One of the most fun and pleasurable things about their writing is how they get away with "da cheese" in this show, IMHO!  Less of it than in Doc Who but still plenty of Cheddar and Stilton to go around in Sherlock....

How about a Baskerville clone?

Arrrgghhh!  :picard2:

That could work if they started the project about forty years ago....

You talkin' Bluebell ? or the dawg?  : )

Sherlock. 40 years ago, Daddy Holmes worked at Baskerville. When his 2nd son was born, he cloned some of its hair, and voila! Sherlock v. 2. But it's evil because, y'know ... clone.

And in that clip that were already joking about S5 - so don't believe for one second that S5 isn't on the books already even if they can't officially announce it.

It's unofficially on the books, you mean? To be fair, Moffat's said he'd be surprised if this were the last season. I think it was Ben that really scared people at Comicon; I don't have time to look for the clip, but he's the one who said this "might be the last season". You could hear the crowd faint. :D

He only said that because he can't say any different. As it is, he got his wrists slapped one time for speaking up about an unannounced S4.

I thought that S4 incident was kind of unfair to him. Near as I can tell, he meant that he and Freeman had agreed to do S4 (i.e., if it actually came about), but then the press chose to interpret that to mean that the BBC had already commissioned it. And rather than explain the misunderstanding, Moftiss made him apologize for something that he hadn't actually said.

Which is interesting because in one of the recent SDCC interview, Moftiss made the comment that apparently Benedict is the one who green-lights a new series, although I suspect they were being flippant.

So they're still at it? Poor fellow -- one ambiguous statement and they just won't let him live it down. I assume he knows they're just teasing, though. :D

I get the impression he's teased a lot. He blushes so becomingly when he is, don't you think? :naughty:

Er, well, I was being a tiny bit facetious. But he does do this cute little head-duck-and-bat-the-eyes thing when he's amused or embarrassed, it looks sort of like this:
