'Nough said!' Really, ladies, you seem to keep forgetting that Sherinford was one of the names ACD toyed with before naming his eponymous hero Sherlock. Never mind about an elder brother looking after the family estate while Mycroft is the clearing house for the British government and the youngest solves mysteries as a profession. There are two brothers named James Moriarty: one in The Final Problem, the Napoleon of crime etc., and Colonel James Moriarty in The Empty House. ACD sloppiness again? Possibly, but they could be twins, no backombing needed!

But Inge -- we must play the "what is it that Mofftiss is going to do" game.  Not the "what is in canon game'   :)

There was Professor James, who was survived by Colonel James. Also the professor had a brother, name unknown, who was (think I have this right) a station master for the railroad, and who may (or may not) have been the Colonel. So there's plenty of room for the Moftisses to play.

Yes, we must. It is our Prime Directive. Prepare to be assimilated.

Yup.  It was.

Nope! No way, no how! I am fully prepared to resist the Moftiss (Borg) hive to my last breath! Just like the Earl-Gray-guzzling Frenchman!

Palm trees in London? Who knew?

The photo isn't necessarily London, but yeah, I believe they might have palm trees there. It never gets very cold, so some of the hardier species could survive. I once saw a loquat tree on the south bank, (and full of ripe fruit, too).

I think that was in Cardiff... Epi 1 setlock photo.  John and Sherlock go to a house on this square and Mary and baby come out the door... that day.  So palm trees in Cardiff.  Although it's possible that it's a seasonal tree.. brought in and out depending on the temp (since we can't see the full tree to see if it is planted in the ground or in a pot).

Cardiff, of course. I was thinking "Sherlock lives in London" so of course that must be London. :d  No wonder fans are accused of confusing the show with reality.

Those trees still look weird to me though, I thought palms couldn't withstand below freezing temps? Although I admit those are not the most luxurious palms I've ever seen.

J.P. - gosh that bldg in that photo looks like "the Diogenes Club"!

Found this article on palms in Britain:  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/gardening/howtogrow/7879789/How-to-grow-palm-trees-in-Britain.html

Martin's main interest is cold hardy palms, most of which can tolerate bad winters and some of which can withstand temperatures as low as 5F (-15C).

So yes, apparently some palms can manage below freezing temps.

I was in Cardiff a couple of days ago, not a palm in sight. I've seen some big yukkas though, which look a bit closer to that first pic, and are obviously a lot closer to the ground than a palm tree.

Big yukkas, huh? That's a pun just waiting to happen, but far be it from me to take advantage.... xd

Hah! I'm not commenting on just how many big yukkas we get around here...

Dear J.P.'s photo is definitely not the Diogenes, but it comes a close second to being Leinster Gardens, while being neither: it's near Leinster Gardens, if memory serves, more St Bartholomew's than Eaton Square, anyway.

Nope, not seen that before, thanks sfmpco. :D

Am I imagining Gatiss and Moffat tensing whenever Amanda speaks or does anyone else see it to?

They seem to have totally forgotten that they SCRIPTED "we've had a scan and are pretty sure it's a girl" in HLV.
