Yup, sounds pretty weird, all right! How did you find out about the private messages?

Posted

One of the things they said about me to some people was that I was lying about where I lived.  A mod of the forum found that strange (because as a mod she could see my general location) and asked me about it.  When I asked her why she asked, she told me what was going on.

I don't know, there are a lot of people who seem to like to get angry and jump on people at the first excuse they get. People just waiting and almost hoping to be offended. It's pathetic. I don't understand people who have the time and mental energy to be attacking people and causing problems online. I joined a forum once and had someone leap on one of my comments in my first post and completely take the p*ss out of it - I was mystified, and it's lucky really that I was so new I didn't much care just didn't bother going back. It must be upsetting when you are part of a forum and someone has it in for you though.

I was thinking that on Youtube, I watch a lot of Youtube videos, but the comments are almost always cesspits and should be avoided like the plague. Then there are all those videos of '------ is trash because' or 'everything wrong with ------' Why do people take time out of their lives to make and edit a video that is so negative?! You don't like something, don't watch it. No one is tying you down and forcing you to.

I'm so glad for this forum. There might be people I disagree with on here, and there have been things that have infuriated me, but on the whole we're a civilised bunch. I've had to comment on a few things, and of course I can be as defensive as the next person when something hits a bit too close, but I tend to duck out of arguments that start to genuinely bother me. There are enough real things to be worried about than someone who wants to argue online.

So, in short, I don't get it either.

I have to admit I like a good, civil argument ... but I realize everyone has their own lines around what's "civil." I hope I hope I hope I'm sensitive to that, but I suspect I do put people off a bit sometimes. Especially when it's something I'm really passionate about. I appreciate y'all putting up with me, not everyone does.

Well thank goodness your mod was a decent person, at least.  :applause:

That's why I created the Political Thread, dearie!  ;)

Oh heavens yes, the YouTube comments! Horrible. Just horrible. How bored do you have to be to waste your time posting slurrs and insults under videos all day? And some of them are quite long, too.

I think this is a fairly civilized place as well and I would really like to keep it that way. Many thanks to all of you for contributing to that.

Like all of the ones where you don't have at least 98% of people either 1) agreeing with your stance or 2) acknowledging valid points in your stance while disagreeing with it. (There's no way to have 100% agreement so I won't go for that stringent) we'll have fun with that :) ;)

Well I have to defend that I actually thought she was the friendly one when I was new. XD

Then we started bickering like a third grader and I look forward to that because I never grow up too. :p

But seriously though, if Arcadia is considered eh..problematic, we wouldn't last a day out there in different forum! Our villain is lame!

Start being actual meanie then! :P

@Artemis, that is horrible. I was in another forum that was a mess and people calling each other names, but all in the open. No one, as far as know, made untrue remarks or accusation in private message. And if I get a PM like that, I would probably go and ask the person itself whether it's true if I bother to do so and think it's not invading, otherwise everyone should see how this person is themselves and gives them benefit of doubt. That is what I do in real life gossips as well. No one should let others influence their judgement without looking at the fact themselves. When it's proven, then feel free to think that the said person is a b*tch or whatever, but see it for yourself.

It sounds like toxic environment to me, I hope it doesn't affect you too much.

I hate to say it, but sometimes what people say online could bring unwanted effect and ruin your mood whole day, regardless what they say is true or not.

So I suppose you should just spend 100% of your forum time here, give us undivided attention break up with others.

What do you say? XD XD XD

Hit hard with the Monday blues this morning. Feeling very depressed. :(

:( I hope you're feeling better now.

Not really, still feeling super morose. December blues kicking in rather than Monday blues it would seem.

December blues? I gather you're not a Christmas person then? I always get happier this time of the year because of all the decorations and lights and scents.

Unfortunately, I can't much enjoy any of it right now because I am sick. I picked up some really nasty bug.

So what usually makes you feel better?

Posted

I am a Christmas person, but I tend to feel very alone as it gets closer and closer to Christmas, and I think of all the things I've failed to do in the last year, and end up spending most of December depressed. I'm been trying to force myself to be more social, which has staved it off for a while, so I'll keep trying that I suppose.

Sorry about the bug.

Being social (with the right people) can help keep depression at bay, yes. Sounds like a good plan.

How about exercise? Anywhere safe for you to take a good walk at? Or a run, if that's something you do? I find that exercise, particularly outdoors and sometimes while listening to music, greatly improves my mood. I miss running so much, so very, very much...

I am pretty sure I picked up this virus at a doctor's waiting room. I went in for one thing and came home with another. Bother.

Hey, all of my stances are valid! :soapbox:

Being out in nature usually helps my mood. Not even doing anything in particular; just being out there. And a brisk walk anywhere is also good. And chocolate.

Too dark for walking or running when I get home, and no energy for it on weekends. I usually go to the gym in the evenings, but not been for a while, when it's this dark and cold I just want to go home and curl up. I don't know that exercise cheers me up much anyway, I feel accomplished when I do it but not especially happy. Ah well, I doubt it'll last all month.

Have you ever tried that light treatment thing? Dunno about the NHS deal on that but over here you can get a prescription for it (you can't just use any old lamp at home, you need a very bright bulb).

The one they do for seasonal affective disorder? Nah, it's not that extreme, it's usually just a general feeling of grimness and malaise, I'll get over it.

Being outdoor cheers me up too, especially quiet area with great view. Hot and cold, and I like dawn a lot. It's nice lurking in the dark but you know morning is coming so it's safe. Or middle of the night somewhere secluded but open to sky. I normally feel safe when I could see the surrounding well and open sky around me, also it's quiet that you could hear everything.

Rant: really hate it when someone 'understand' things you said, but do the opposite because they only pretended to understand. It could be as simple as follow this 'with bloody clear instruction, references and multiple verbal reminders' also 'keep this white', and when you see it again, it's grey.

It's bloooody frustating!!!!

WHY????

GAH! It's really not rocket science, which part of keep this white, make it brighter a bit, translated into grey????

Goddammit I just sprained my shoulder for moving two pieces of 5 meter long 15cm diameter metal pipe with one hand! Because I was furious someone put in in front of my gate. There was no way I could get in without the risk of jeopardizing my bike wheel or being stuck between the pipes and steep ramp.

No one was around, no neighbors or workers in sight, not sure what they were for or who is the owner as there are currently three houses with ongoing works. I was so furious that I stood outside with sprain shoulder but ready to punch whoever. Not a freaking fly and that makes me angrier. How if I am not strong enough to move them, stuck and waiting for them?!? They should probably get those pipes on their faces.

Idiots!!

P.S i tend not to think when I'm angry.

Not a defense, exactly, but whoever left them there probably assumed you could very easily just step over them -- didn't realize you had a bike. But that doesn't help your shoulder, huh?

We need a sympathy-face emotie.

My neighbors know I have bike. They see me everyday and in this place, everyone need vehicle to go around as there is no mass public transport.

They left their driveways free but mine, they know I live alone and from my frame, I don't think they suspect I could move that around. It's very thick and very heavy pipe, when I tried to kick forcefully, it didn't bulge.

And my house doesn't look like abandoned or empty lot anymore, I just redid one part of the wall that fell apart with new finish, cleaned up the stain on another part and tidied up the garden.

I'm sure it's same scenario with the one cutting my plants, they didn't mean to be obnoxious, but lacking brain cell to think of consequences to others. I wouldn't be surprise they came knocking and said sorry sheepishly just like any other time; plants, parking in front of my gate, debris, construction material in my area. One time I had to ride my bike with broken wheel to mechanic because I ran over nail that fell in my yard, that was after I found a piece of big ass thick plywood with nails flown there from the neighbor's ongoing renovation. And I flung that plywood back to their yard because again, no one was around to claim it.

Anyway, I wrote nasty warning and pasted in on my fence. They are nice people, just don't have common sense. Now I get to be the grumpy one, especially with the warning panel.

Anyway, early in the morning the pipes had been moved alongside the corner house. If they belong to that house it means the owner put them two houses away and opposite. If they belong to my direct neighbor (the pipes were laid along his house and my driveway but his driveway was free, that was where I moved them to) then apparently he also found that they disturb his driveway (no shit Sherlock how do you like it?)

Thanks, my shoulder is painful for certain movements but no significant swelling or obstructing my activities, probably juat pulled a muscle or two. I suppose in couple of days it will be shiny again.
