I agree that if Sherlock and Molly ever got together, it would happen at the end of the series, because their relationship and much of Molly's character are based on her unrequited attraction to him.

I also agree that they have left the door wide open, but personally, I still can't picture any incarnation of Sherlock Holmes with a girlfriend, and certainly not this one.

My guess would be that IF they were to ever imply that he was going to be with someone, you should bet it would be the last episode - that that's how they would choose to end it.... an implication and nothing more, and they'd never have to develop it further.

Besides, what better way to torment the fans? :d

Clearly, my favorite kinda ships are the damaged, messy ones that are unlikely to happen or if they do... fall spectacularly to pieces (Carter!!!).

I watched TEH again yesterday. We they go to the train guy's flat, and he opens the door ... they just look so good together. In sync. Wahhhhh.

Yup, very likely. If we ever do get any kind of a proper ending, it will probably be ambiguous and we'll all get to decide for ourselves how, where and with whom we want to imagine Sherlock ten years later. At least I hope so.

They do.  I didn't even consider the idea of shipping them until that episode.  Stupid Gatiss.

SPOIL SPORT!!!!!!

The part that got me was, he's clearly flirting with her there. And I'm willing to bet he doesn't even know that's what flirting is, which makes it even more endearing. And then he's so drop dead gorgeous in that sequence .... gaah.gif Gatiss indeed! Let's get him, Sitty!!!!! I'll hold him down while you deliver the punches!! :D

How did Molly not melt into a puddle right there and then in that flat?

Posted

Because Meat Dagger and she's faithful and loyal and that's why we love her but doggone it Molly.....

On the other hand, if she had responded in kind to his flirting, Sherlock probably would have bolted in terror .... :d

Meat Dagger is a much better name than Tom.

Yep.

He does that.

Well, I think if they ever did do something nebulous with him starting a relationship on the very last episode (because it was planned to be the last episode), I wouldn't put it past them to also make it nebulous as to who it was.

Or even make it so nebulous you wonder if it's anyone at all ... I mean, why change from what it is now? ;)

Oh, I think they would leave it off with some sort of tease that they will never have to answer.

I prefer that, it's better in case I don't like their answer. :)

That would be so evil. I'd be on a plane to the UK stat to give Gatiss a piece of my mind and then fangirl flail.

I believe that's the reaction they'd be going for, yep. :p

They'll end it on something that's not really a cliff-hanger but that just leaves a lot of questions about Sherlock.

Speaking of ships, the Johnlock thread has me evaluating my own ship.  The one thing I've never understood is the insistence that a ship is real in the face of some very adamant comments by Mofftiss that it's never happening.  So that got me thinking about what Mofftiss has said about Sherlolly, and to be honest I'm not finding much.  I did find Sue saying before Season 3 (referring to Sherlock and Molly):   "It's not going to go the way Tumblr thinks it's going to go."   And from the same day Moffat(?) says,  "I don't think they're going to end up dating - two sociopaths in one relationship would not be good - but it's a proper friendship."  I'm not sure that I'd consider Molly a sociopath, but OK Moff.

Anyhow, I've never had high hopes for this ship, as I've said on here before.  But would an outright denial make me throw in the towel?  Would I still enjoy the doomed ship for what it is ... a nice idea?   I'm not sure if I'd be more upset about Sue and Steven's comments if I had ever had any real hope?  These are just my random meanderings.  I got really lucky that Mulder and Scully panned out in X-Files so I'm not too experienced in dealing with the idea of a sunken ship.  I may be downgrading my chance of  Sherlolly from 1% to like 0.2% now, though.  :)

I've always found the "Sherlolly" ship kind of sweet, because Molly "represents every girl of a certain age who wants to run her fingers through his curls" ... and hey, we girls deserve to win the partner of our dreams! But I've never believed it, or wished for it. But if it happened, I'd be at the front of the line cheering, because ... solidarity!
