For me, Lestrade's attraction is partly appearance, partly that he seems to be a thoroughly decent fellow -- and partly that he strikes me as just a bit unpredictably naughty.  I suppose that last factor is just my head canon, since we really have no evidence of what he's like in a relationship (other than having been willing -- up to a point -- to work things out with his ex-wife).

Nothing like reaching the positive quota for the day.  And since I can't stay up until after midnight to allow a reset. I will like the post this way.

There does seem to be a slight naughty side to him.  Maybe it comes from his years as a cop and having to deal with so many different people who need a slight "bad cop" to get them to behave.  Then there is his response to John in the holding cell after the stag night fiasco.

Love that "NOT REALLY!" from Lestrade at John.

Yes a touch of sass and snarky all wrapped into one.

That was awesome, especially the little snippet of dialogue at the beginning. Even the straight guy fancies him! :d

Thanks everybody who has shared news on the filming of the Christmas Special! I am not on Twitter, and don't intend to join even for Sherlock, so I really appreciate the lovely fun little tidbits that pop up on this forum.

And this is the perfect day for that kind of fun, because it is Jan 7th, Christmas is officially over, and I have spent my day off so far doing nothing but taking down decorations, moving the tree outside, tidying up and cleaning, while listening to the saddest music I could find. I love Christmas, but I find the end of the season terribly depressing. I'm sad tonight, and since there's nobody here to have dinner with, I am really very grateful for all the Sherlock speculation madness.

Me neither -- though I do sometimes think of setting up an account just so I don't keep getting that annoying pop-up whenever I click on a link to Twitter. Otherwise, it could just sit there, like my (two) Facebook accounts.

Is there really an official date in Germany? Alex and I don't have a tree (because we have six cats), but we leave our lights up till Groundhog Day (February 2nd). At that point, it feels good to pack up the Christmas things and get ready for spring.

 Well, not official in the way that a government agent drops by to check whether you've taken down your tree...

But yesterday was Epiphany, the last of the 12 days of Christmas, so today, Christmas is over. At least that's the tradition I grew up with. If you look those things up, you'll find that the dates actually differ depending on what calendar is used and how Biblical events are interpreted. But I am not Christian, I am simply sentimental and very attached to my childhood traditions, and those say everything is over today and I am supposed to put everything in boxes until the first of Advent 2015 and move on with the new year. So I tried to be a good girl. But letting anything go and moving on is not my thing...

Anyway, I haven't reduced the number of candles in the room, unless you count the ones that were on the tree. Candles aren't for Christmas only, I've decided. Likewise, any ornament that doesn't look specifically Christmass-y has been rebranded as "winter decoration" and left hanging. It's still a sad day in my book. I wish I could find that Pogo strip with Churchy waving and hollering "good bye Christmas, good bye Christmas", but the internet is stingy when it comes to Pogo.

Yeah, that's how we think of them, winter decorations.  I'm even thinking of putting up more decorations for the next few weeks -- but first I'd have to find them in the attic.  So -- maybe not!

I guess the problem with finding Pogo online is that Walt Kelly stopped drawing new strips a long time ago, well before the internet.  But there are a few strips here and there.  Here's (a different) one with Churchy:

I like the new "head" or whatever it's called of the forum!

Is it new?  I was assuming it was the same as before Christmas, and I had simply forgotten what it looked like.  Couldn't prove it by me, one way or t'other.

Didn't the header use to involve the wallpaper and smiley face... like this  :)

That does sound familiar, and if you remember it, then it was up there sometime since October (but before December, obviously).  So yeah, I think you're right.

Nevermind, I shouldn't multitask... misread what you were saying.  :)

Don't worry, I'm used to it -- my husband does it all the time!

It was something different before October? I missed that completely. I'd make a lousy detective.

That's what was up there all year, wasn't it? I don't remember anything else until the Christmas header showed up. Sometimes I worry about myself.....

The reason I said it must have been there last fall is -- that's when sittything joined the forum (and therefore would not have remembered it if it'd been an old design from way back).  I'm easily enough confused that I should be more careful not to confuse others.  Sorry about that!

I feel a little sad that the snowflakes on the forum are gone. :(

That's OK -- just look out your window!  :D

There's no snowflakes, just snowdrifts and freezing temperatures!

I'm with Bendy on the snowflakes.  Do miss them on the forum and outside it is small drifts and subzero temps (doesn't matter which measuring system you use, unless it's Kelvin) so no snowflakes until maybe tomorrow.

Our forecast says it'll be back up to freezing early next week!
