... that's what the fashion mags do ... print articles to go with the pictures....

Bit like Penthouse in that regard?  ;)

:lol4: That's exactly what I was thinking!

How would they know? :P

They have a hotline to Hartswood!

Which automatically means a Summer 2016 release at the earliest! Which means one will be forty, the putative other also, and the indispensable blogger almost forty-six! Farewell to Picadilly and the Byronic locks, to paraphrase the Tipperary song!

Dear J. P., you should have taken Irene's crop with you!

Oh S4 will still be in editing in the summer of 2016.  Don't expect to see it before Christmas 2016/New Years 2017.

Although Amanda had actually revealed that a few weeks ago and no one would listen...

sigh, I'm so disappointed... I was expecting it being filmed later this year.

:welcome: to the forum Lady Vengeance. You're not the only one. But apparently shortly after Hamlet gets done on stage Benedict starts Dr. Strange filming.

That's it -- blame Cumberbatch!  :P  I still think Moftiss tend to use him and Freeman as scapegoats.  "Oh, we could have filmed Series 17 by now, but Ben and Martin were in The Hobbit."  It's not like the S4 scripts are exactly written, is it?

We were all hoping, yeah.   :(   But in order to protect your sanity as regards Sherlock, it's a good idea to maintain a distinction between hoping and expecting.  Keep your hopes up, but don't count too much on rumors.

Welcome to Sherlock Forum, Lady Vengeance!  :welcome:

Thank you all

The thing is, I fear a day comes when they finally say that there won't be a fourth season because of perceived loss of interest by the audience and/or the performers. It will be a perhaps 4-year hiatus, and that's hoping that no other projects get in the way before the planned schedule, as they have until now.

Will it even make sense, story-wise, to see the characters being 3-4 years older than last season?

I'm a little heartbroken, which only attests to my obsession with this series. Unhealthy, I know that

At this point, it sure looks like S4 is a go.  I can't believe they would have announced that filming would be next spring if they didn't already have everyone signed up for specific dates.

The end will come sooner or later, of course, due to the permanent unavailability (retirement, disability, or death) of a key participant, but that could easily be decades away.  In the meanwhile, everyone involved seems to be keen to keep going.

With S5 and beyond, they will hopefully settle on their filming dates considerably further in advance!  If that still requires a longer hiatus, I'm sure Moftis are creative enough to work that time lapse into the story.

It could be easy enough to have the age gap between S3 & S4 because the special is supposed to answer the Moriarty question according to Moftiss so having S4 jump further ahead would not be to big of a stretch to be out of the question.

By S5, the question should be posited if everyone will be alive enough to participate, let alone be one of the creators.

There was an absolutely perfect moment at a conference, when a British participant showed how American English can go overboard by quoting from a paper about a "lifeless corpse" , which had everyone fall about laughing. Not even Anderson would use such a term, I should think!

Oh I seriously doubt there will come a day of perceived loss of interest.  Nope.  SHERLOCK is a cash and award cow for them.
