Stumbled across this from (I think?) New York Magazine, not much new but it's kind of cute...

That was a really interesting interview, thanks for the link.

And then there's a wedding in there at some point in his life. Hopefully he will get some time to breathe soon.

Hopefully he'll get married by the summer. Did you see the ring from Tiffanys? Holy moly.... at least $57,000.

Agree with the holy moly on that ring. it is worth approx. 50x my engagement & wedding rings combined. It looks nice even though it is totally not my style (I only like round cut diamonds in either a round or straight line pattern if there are multiple diamonds and narrow bands for both rings as my fingers are short between the last 2 knuckles).

Debbie

I would imagine not.

That's 200 times my engagement and wedding ring combined and honestly, I cannot for a second understand why anyone would spend that much on a ring (or anything other than a house, really!). :o

That's a beautiful ring!  I'd be absolutely terrified about something happening to it, though.   I'd go all Gollum on it...

I'd probably tell the BF to return that thing to Tiffany's and try again with something wayyyyy cheaper, lol.

If I were a guy, I'd do everything to keep the price a secret. And if I had the means that Benedict probably has, then I'd go custom and create so sort of contract to keep the price a secret.

It's a lovely ring; very classy and elegant.  I'm sure she loves it.

If he has the money, he should certainly splash out on buying his fiancee a mind-blowing ring.  There are definitely more important things in life, but I can tell you that Mr. Boton spent quite a bit on my wedding set (among other things, the rings were cast specifically to fit my hands rather than being a re-size of an existing piece, and he was also very particular about choosing the stone), and I still feel a little giddy every time I look at them.  And we got engaged 14 years ago.

That's probably a likely scenario - and I now have a mental picture of a horrified husband as I would ignorantly giggle 'I think I've lost one of these glass jewel thingies on the ring while scooping up the dog's poo'.

Alex is under strict orders never to buy me anything with diamonds on it!  Neither of us can see spending that sort of money for something that serves no purpose other than being looked at (well, unless you need to cut glass, I suppose).  When we got engaged, we just bought our wedding rings (custom-made but very plain) and wore them on our right hands till the wedding, then moved them to each other's left hands during the ceremony.

That's kind of cool what you guys did with the wedding rings. That wouldn't have worked so well for me as my fingers are 2 different sizes.

I have thought about the possibility of a person who couldn't wear a ring for some reason (such as a safety issue on a job), get a tattoo on the ring finger that went around the finger like a ring actually would. Never would have to worry about losing it or the size being wrong.

A neat idea, but check with your states tattoo regulations. In Maine it is illegal for a tattooist to work on areas above the neck and below the wrists. So a finger tattoo would be a big nono here. But a cool alternative would have a design done in henna. That lasts for weeks and can be simply touched up when it starts to fade. Pain free and no risk of infection.

It worked well enough for us, but I did end up having my ring resized, since my left ring finger is a bit thinner. I actually lost it twice before that -- once when I was adjusting my heavy socks inside my "waffle stomper" boots (didn't notice it was missing till later, so didn't find it till the next time I wore those boots) and once when I was weeding the garden, flinging the weeds into a patch of undergrowth (yup).

Any idea why it's illegal?   I can see that a hand or face tattoo would be nearly impossible to hide -- but seems like the decision should be up to the individual.

He says he's given up smoking -- yay for him!

And in answer to this

Yes, he has more of that to film, and then supposedly squeezes in THE LOST CITY OF Z before Sherlock in January...but I haven't heard anything recent about Z, so I'm sort of confused as to whether or not that's still on the production slate.

... he has this to say:

I was going to be doing a film, ‘The Lost City of Z’ with (director) James Gray. That was put on hold because of problems with the location. Hopefully, it will start in spring next year.

I just read through the Maine State Tattoo regulations and found nothing prohibiting the area to be covered by the art. So either my resource was wrong, even though she got multiple tattoos, so should have known....but laws do change. I will have to ask one of the local tattoo artists about this.

I enjoyed that very much.  Men are so wonderful when they truly appreciate the women they love.  They can just exude more mushiness than we girls!

(One guess who cried at our wedding -- me or Mr. Boton?)

One guess who will cry at Benedict's wedding!  He won't be able to contain himself.

Totally.  There will almost certainly be one picture of the two of them leaving the church, him with red-rimmed eyes and a huge grin.  I can't wait!

I second this! :applause:

Moftiss, did you hear this? No Sherlock-low-tar-scenes in S4/ the Special or I'll come after you! :whip:

BTW, I should make it very clear that I do NOT go trolling like an obsessive fan for BC info.  It shows up in my Twitter feed and I simply pass it along.  I leave the research, digging and trolling to other people.

More in that vein (I confess to adoring this...)
