Not really a shipper, but that gif is kind of hypnotizing.

Just kind of? :lol5:

I don't ship'm. Oh my, Sherlock having a girlfriend? Perhaps in another universe.

And I don't ship Johnlock.  To each his own!

I ship them.  I ship them hard.  I just don't ship them the way shipping is traditionally done.  I tend to be more conservative in that area.

I do think Sherlock is honest when he says Molly means a lot to him.

And the way he digs into her present can be interpreted as him being jealous.

And guess who gets two voluntary kisses on the cheek from the virgin ice man..

Just kind of? :lol5:

That's it! I'm buying Sherlock's patch.

This could potentially be three-patch problem.

I honesty thought he was manipulating her.

Originally yes,

But I think Reichenbach and after that there is something more; appreciation, gratitude and certain level of admiration.

Sherlock is not romantically attracted to Molly.

But as he points out to her just pre the Fall...he's always, liked and admired her...

I think after The Fall, he really respects her.

I thought at the time of the Fall that he was manipulating her, but based on his behavior in S3, I was wrong. I hope so; if we discover he's still manipulating her and is just less obvious about it, I shall turn absolutely monstrous!

When your friend converts you into Johniarty* trash and you don't even bother to fight the obsession anymore :embarrassed:

*John x Moriarty

I happened on 1 once and Mycroft was partially to blame. It was interesting and if course Sherlock deduced it.

Johnairty hahahhahahaa still have to get used to this kind of things.

Oh and by the way. I'm wearing my "I love Sherlock" shirt in public today. Obsession all over the place!

When you suddenly have a new level of apreciation for a colleague because you find out they watch Sherlock too.

When the bookstore keeper you hardly patronize recognize you and say,"No, sorry. No new books about Sherlock. You got the last one. Last week, remember?"

I too think that people look like their avatar. I can imagine that it will definetely be frightening if that.. euh.. grey elmo thingy turn monstrous and more fluffy!

Taxidermy is a hobby, like any other. I detest, loathe, abhor boxing, but it has its fans. De gustibus e de coloris non diputandum est! Besides, the Jagdmuseum in Munich has some lovely mounted trophies.

Stuffed boxers?  :D

Oh dear, we've hijacked this poor thread for our little latin lesson, haven't we. Somebody will have to teach me how to move posts with my new mod powers and I can take it to the language thread.

If you can figure out where the beginning and end of the detour are!  I'll PM you the info.  You might also want to move that Sherlolly detour over to the "Sherlock's Feelings about Molly" thread, if you're in the mood.

...When your first thought at the prospect of getting a new phone is "now I can finally use "Staying Alive" as my ringtone!"

Funny -- I've been thinking of getting a smart phone just so I can have the "Game is On" theme for my ringtone.  (But hardly worth the expense, since I so rarely receive calls on it, so not thinking very hard.  But if I ever do get a smart phone....)

... I am confused. Isn't mp3-based ringtone already widespread for years even for non-smartphones?

Maybe I'm the one who's confused.  I assumed that my phone would need internet access in order to download a ringtone.  At minimum, I assumed it would need some way to hook it up to a computer, and I didn't think my dumbphone had any ports.

However, upon further inspection, I do see more hook-up places than I realized it had.  One is for recharging, obviously.  One is a headphone jack.  But what's the third one?  It's got a cryptic logo that looks vaguely like a pair of italic square brackets:

[ ]

Also, there's some sort of long button or latch or slider switch.  It's marked with a box in the middle and arrows on each end, like so:

<   [__]   >

The phone is a Motorola, and of course there's no model number on it.  I've had it for maybe five years.

Dear Carol, if it is Bluetooth-enabled, then you can connect via Bluetooth to another device that will recognise yours, and dowload from that device, at least that's what I used to do with my old Samsung not-smartphones, simply link them through the famous invention, surely named after dear SherlockedCamper's long-lost relation, Eric Bluetooth!

Thanks, Inge, but I doubt that it has any blue teeth!   :D   It's a very basic cell phone.

Try gsmarena.com >> search your phone's exact specification then scroll down to the COMMS panel, you will see what options you have for data-transfer. FYI, some phones have a single port for both charging the battery and connecting it to a computer's USB port.

If it is Motorola, Nokia or Sony Ericsson, then dear ShadowDweller is right! It might also be possible to download anything from your cell company provider, AT&T, Bell or whatnot. Please, let us know how we can help!

Thanks! I've tried their advanced search without finding anything that looks like my phone, but a lot of my input was guesswork, so tomorrow I'll see if I can find my user's manual. That should have the model number AND a list of features!

FYI, some phones have a single port for both charging the battery and connecting it to a computer's USB port.

Hadn't thought of that, but it sure makes sense. However, my recharge connection doesn't look like a thumb drive's USB connection to me, and I'm guessing phones made like that are newer and more expensive than mine.

OK, found the manual!  (Fortunately, I never got around to putting it where it belongs -- wherever that might be -- so it was still sitting where I happened to lay it down the day I got the phone.)

It's a Motorola W220.  The gsmarena website says it has "Downloadable polyphonic, MP3-like ringtones, composer" -- whatever that means.  No bluetooth, no USB -- so what do they mean by "download"?  Aha -- under Web Access, the manual says, "Network, SIM card, or subscription dependent and may not be available in all areas."  Sounds like it would cost extra, so bet I don't have that!

I even found a more detailed manual online.  In fact, it's SO detailed that it covers some features I don't actually seem to have (like turning off the accursed startup music).

Alex usually recharges our phones, so it's been a while since I did mine, and the manual says I'd forgotten what the connecter looks like -- it's the little round hole with the " [  ] " label.  (So what are the two square holes on the hinge end?)

You can just tell that I use my phone a whole lot, can't you?  :P

Dear Carol,

The simplest solution then would be to find the cell phone's IMEI number, log on to your service provider and see what ringtones are available for sale (unfortunately) ; the other port is for a data transfer card, so it's no good unless you have kept all the accessory wires that came with the boxed phone. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

^^; I see what you means with a basic phone... You're right to think that a smartphone would be a better bet to play Sherlock ringtones than that. Even if two files have the same .mp3 extension, it doesn't means exactly same format and thus some device only capable to play some files but not the others. On the other hand, you have a composer. Dig out that manual and translate Sherlock's opening theme then compose it in your phone. It would be a unique. :D
