Sigh. Lucky you.

Even before the show opened there were multiple articles in every paper, in which crusty old men fretted over ‘tent cities of women in deerstalkers’ and sour ladies questioned the fate of The Theatre at the hands of the dreaded Fangirl. As if they in their stuffy bleakness have sole ownership of Shakespeare and theatre in general, and have been burdened by the Gods of Theatre to keep the riff-raff firmly where they belong: in the gutter, with the rest of the rubbish.
f*** that noise. I am so bored of the idea that fans who happen to be both passionate and female are a} newsworthy and b} somehow threatening to culture itself. There seems to be this underlying assumption that because Benedict has a large, young-ish, mostly female fanbase, he must not actually be as good as the hype (silly women, confused by their hormones into mistaking sex appeal for talent); therefore, the Shakespeare play he’s starring in will be of poor quality and interrupted periodically by hysterical screaming. I’m so done with it. So. Done.

That actually really make me feel better.

Thank you.

If we're talking about Benedict...

Well I'm panicking...he missed a few Frankenstein shows through illness.

And what happened? Were there riots? :P

Seriously, I hope he won't overexert himself. The schedule is crazy and I have an impression he grows thinner each day.

Would be cool to see some of the Sherlock folks make an appearance at Hamlet's press night tonight.

I heard rumblings on Tumblr about Martin and Amanda going.  It'd be cool if Loo made an appearance too.  I suppose Gatiss won't because of his show.  Maybe Moffat?

I am far too invested in this Hamlet post party b/c I just want to see Sherlock folks.

Nevermind, being reported on Tumblr that Gatiss is there.

Two women with Ben related accounts I follow there have tickets for tonight and do little reporting. Damn, I'm jealous! Didn't think I would, but I am.

And now there is a photo of Sophie arriving at Barbican.

Mark comes with Ian.

Where is Mycroft, when we need him? There must be some surveillance cameras in the area around (and maybe in) Barbican he could give us an access to.

I wonder if it makes it easier or harder knowing you have friends and family out in the audience. I know when I have to make presentations I'm more self conscious when loved ones are out there, because if I flub I still have to look them in the eyes every day! But I'm in no way a professional actor, I wonder if it's the same for them, or do they feel more supported knowing friends are out there? Probably different for everyone, I guess.

It's still a funny feeling - participating in events taking place somewhere in the world, even if you don't see them. Cannot get used to this. Which is nice, at least I can be excited. :D
