That was the plan (mine, at least). :D Not going to watch that (and we do have Netflix) because I'm still grumpy about S3 of Sherlock. Shutting up about it (well, not now :P ) and hoping that y'all have fun with it, but myself, nah, once bitten twice shy.

Well to be fair, I think they are two different beasts!

But it's individual choice, of course.

Oh, I see.  And I suppose there's no statute of limitations on that?

Just for the record, the Moftisses do seem to engage in a good bit of what could be construed as baiting of various sorts, but I rather suspect it's mostly just their brand of A} keeping secrets regarding future episodes and B} hoping we won't notice that they couldn't figure out how to fulfill a promise -- like the "big reveal explanation" of Reichenbach that we were expecting to see in Empty Hearse.  I find that one pretty annoying, but not enough to call for a boycott, or even to stop watching the show myself (though if Series 5 continues the WTF trajectory begun in 3 and 4, I may change my mind about that last part).

And C) because they think it's funny.

Oh, right!  Their sense of humor seems to have stalled out somewhere in the "made you look" stage.

I keep seeing Tumblr users post anti-Moftiss diatribes, trying to get everyone to boycott the show.  They're still angry about "Sherlock".

Latest related post to pop up on my Tumblr.  Why did Moffat even have to comment on Dracula's sexuality?

Although to be fair to them, many of us weren't much more evolved (okay, maybe it's just me... )

Me too. Find Sherlock hilarious, I mean. Although I also like to think I have humor, too. 😉

Because he was asked? Because it gets attention? Because he thinks he said it the "right way" this time? (In other words ... beats me.)

Why shouldn't he?

And Dracula was what they said he was going to be: bi.

Isn't he always portrayed that way these days? At least since those Vampire Lestat books, if not even longer ago.

Now y'all made me curious about what Plaidder (bet you saw that coming  ) thinks about Dracula, and while she, like me, decided to sit that one out, I found this here in one of the reblogs (spoilering, just in case, link logically leads to a spoiler as well):

Not even you could have predicted that Moffatt would genderswap Van Helsing and have her bang Dracula. That isn’t a joke.

:wtf:

Those things were exactly the reasons why I like Mofftiss. :D

Well, someone apparently spent a painful time watching a show they knew they would hate, and now spend even more time elaborating that they were right.
You KNOW what you will get from them, as you know what you get from Tarantino or Marvel, so if you hate it - why bother?

Not gonna watch it anyway (fool me once and all that), but I still can't help but wonder: okay, so you want to have [redacted for spoilers] and [likewise] do it - sure, let them have a go at it. :xmas3: Why on earth, in two-thousand-f***ing-twenty, does anyone feel the need to genderswap one of them to female first? Hello and welcome to the 21st century, men can marry if you haven't heard, you are allowed to show them as a couple on screen, really, that's perfectly okay.

I didn't say he shouldn't.  But I think a better idea would be to let the show speak for itself.  He can discuss whatever he jolly well pleases, but he doesn't owe the audience an explanation.  They can infer and extrapolate to their heart's desire.  So let me rephrase that, several different ways.  Why is he being asked to "clear up" speculation surrounding his character's sexuality?  Why does he have to defend his creative choices?  Why does it have to be labeled?  Why is a character's sexuality always the hottest topic of conversation, and why does it continue to be for the entire length of a show's run and beyond?  Who flippin' cares which gender Dracula prefers to sleep with/seduce/whatever?  Why can't people just watch the show, see who Dracula has sex with in the show, and then all their Very Important Questions about Dracula's sexual preferences will be answered, and we can move on to actually interesting topics, like literally anything else.

It annoys me.  The incessant jabbering about Sherlock's sexuality ruined the fandom for me, and has ruined just about every fandom I've attempted to partake in.  It's a stupid, boring topic that people get outraged about for stupid, boring reasons.

Those are my feelings, no offense meant to anyone here.  You're excluded from my rant.  :P  I'm just suuuuuuuper sick of this being "a thing", not to mention "the thing", all the time.  Every time a new show starts: "BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SEX."  Every discussion of a character: "BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SEX."  It never ends.

Okay I'm done now.

Woohoo, cheers from me too.

Bloody awful living in a sexualised world and I don't care from which gender, sex, or sexuality.

Oh, do go on though. I wish I could like this twice.

Dracula is a Vampire anyway, for crying out loud. Do those even still have a sexual orientation? Wouldn't they be like, blood, bloooood, BLOOOOODDDD!!!! no matter what genitalia the body they draw it from has or hasn't?

That's how I write em anyway. All my vamps are bi / pan / whatever / it's not really relevant.

(Yes, I like vampires. I definitely want to see this Dracula too. Some day.)

Tried to read comments about Dracula and The Witcher, but it seems there are only two options: "it was awful, period" and "Dracula/Geralt is soooooo damn hot". Especially the second kind makes me want to quit internet for good.

Apparently they could show Claes licking his fingers or Cavil in the bathtub for hours - why bother with a STORY?

Objection: I've watched neither, and I admit I haven't seen this particular Dracula yet (even in a still) so I honestly can't tell, but from what pics I've seen floating around, imo Cavill does look pretty damn hot in that white wig. And why shouldn't he? Would there be more of a story if they cast an uglier actor?

eta: Realized that there'll be more reading this who haven't seen either, so I grabbed random pics from Imgur for show&tell. At least I *hope* that's the correct Dracula, please tell me if that's not the case. As you can imagine, "Dracula" brings a lot of hits.

eeta: The forum hates either me, Geralt or Dracula. Hang on please. ;) Only got the small ones to work, sorry! Still not sure what's up. I blame werewolves. :P

Because the Witcher wasn't supposed to be pretty. People were closing doors, dogs barked and cats hissed seeing him.
Scarred, sinewy, with a nasty smile. Cavil is a big puppy, not a monster killer.

And his wig comes from a totally different fairytale, as people say in my country.

Sooo ... I've started watching Dracula. I have pretty mixed reactions. I recognize that it's beautifully filmed, Van Helsing is a trip, Harker often moves me … but I'm beginning to realize, I just simply don't have much interest in the Dracula story. He's evil, he's already dead; stab him for Pete's sake and get on with it. Who cares if he's sexy or not? He's evil. He's dead. Stab him. Once his victims are bitten, they're evil and dead too. Stab them. Really don't see much of a story arc here, never have. But that's always my problem with horror stories; they're so dependent on the "good guys" simply frittering their time away so the bad guy has plenty of time to do his thing. Bleh. Give me a good mystery instead. Or better still, give me heroes being proactive and saving a lot more of us.... (no wonder I like Marvel...)

Also this version is a bit gory for my taste. Probably too gory for PBS, for example. I've had to look away a couple of times. Will give the second episode a chance (I'm aware the most shocking stuff is often in the first episode of this kind of show) but I can tell you already … I'd rather have seen another season of Sherlock. :D

But for people who like this kind of thing … it's handsomely done. I'd recommend it, as long as they understand what they're getting into (gruesome horror).
