For your viewing pleasure at Johnspec's expense and permission:

The pan at the top of the picture was what he was emptying when this occurred.

We got a good laugh out of it.

That is nice that he helps out.

What is the black thingy on the left side of the picture, and what Star War product ends up on the floor near the bin? :P (nosy)

Posted

That is our glorified dish rack (aka the 30 year old dishwasher that no longer works and can't be replaced yet for financial reasons). The Star Wars thing by our indoor recycling bin is a Darth Vader cookie jar.

Johnspec & I were playing Apples to Apples Bible Edition tonight. Since it was just the 2 of us, we set up 2 imaginary players . Whoever is not the judge plays for the imaginary players as well as their own (so we kind of know the cards for 2 players). We both managed to lose to the imaginary player on my right. Then laughed about it and gave each other a double high five before watching the Princess Bride.

Thanks Carol! The writing is so good on this show :)

Btw, if you guys are in London next Tuesday evening come along to Regents Uni. Mark Gattis and Steven Moffat and Sue Vertue (the producer) are being interviewed. It'll be a Sherlockfest haha

Someone I was talking with earlier posited the possibility of black lightsabers in future Star Wars films, and while I was answering him, it occurred to me that almost all of my knowledge of physics comes from trying to figure out how different superpowers could scientifically work (for writing purposes mostly), lol.

Latest research topic in this area: Sonoluminescence.

If the writing were so good on this show, then how come most Dr Who fans deride the last Dr Who episodes for bad writing? Mr Moffat has a lot to answer for, both for Dr Who and S3 & S4. If there is a Scots equivalent for script writer  *ell, may he dwell in it forever!

I think it's hard to determine objectively what is good and what is poor writing. It's largely a matter of taste, imo.

Well, you only have to read what is currently being posted on the BBC and other sites about the last Dr Who to see that most complain about bad scriptwriting. And who was the main scriptwriter?

Posted

Eh, I think the complainers are just louder and less inhibited. It doesn't mean much.

If you mean Twice Upon A Time, I quite enjoyed them, TBH. But then, I'm not a dedicated, long term fan who has a formed opinion about how the show should look like.

I'm getting a "server not found" errror, J.P. -- maybe it's just down for maintenance, though.

Sorry, that one doesn't work either, it asks me to sign in. :(
