Molly, representing ordinary women-folk since since 2010.

I assume that Ms. Brealey means "ordinary" in the sense of "not a psychopath"?

Really?  I assumed she was referring to how relatable and ordinary Molly is.  How un-Irene-like.

Are we assuming Irene and Janine are psychopaths?  Mary?  Mrs. Hudson?  ;)

Maybe  *as she rocks back and forth on her feet looking around up in the sky.* ;)

Well, I'm just going to take this a bit off-topic, OK maybe more than just a bit, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this exchange.  It's right up there with so many of the Mycroft and Sherlock moments for me...

(From Ariane DeVere)

JOHN: You.
(He turns to face her. When he speaks, his voice and his face are full of barely-controlled anger and he frequently breathes heavily throughout his next words.)
JOHN: What have I ever done ... hmm? ... my whole life ... to deserve you?
SHERLOCK (now leaning against the right-hand door post): Everything.
JOHN (in the same tone as he turns to face him): Sherlock, I’ve told you ... (he walks towards him) ... shut up.
SHERLOCK (quietly): Oh, I mean it, seriously. Everything – everything you’ve ever done is what you did.
JOHN (very softly and dangerously): Sherlock, one more word and you will not need morphine.
SHERLOCK (still softly): You were a doctor who went to war.
(John’s eyes are fixed on him and he is breathing rapidly and deeply.)
SHERLOCK (a little louder but still quieter than we’re used to hearing him speak): You’re a man who couldn’t stay in the suburbs for more than a month without storming a crack den and beating up a junkie. Your best friend is a sociopath who solves crimes as an alternative to getting high.
(He pauses for a moment.)
SHERLOCK: That’s me, by the way. (He raises his left hand and waves at him.) Hello.
(He points towards Mrs Hudson.)
SHERLOCK: Even the landlady used to run a drug cartel.
MRS HUDSON: It was my husband’s cartel. I was just typing.
SHERLOCK (looking at her): And exotic dancing.
MRS HUDSON: Sherlock Holmes, if you’ve been YouTube-ing ...
SHERLOCK (louder, talking over her): John, you are addicted to a certain lifestyle. You’re abnormally attracted to dangerous situations and people ... (his voice becomes quieter again) ... so is it truly such a surprise that the woman you’ve fallen in love with conforms to that pattern?
(John grimaces briefly and then, with his eyes still fixed on Sherlock, he points towards his wife at the other side of the room.)
JOHN (his voice full of suppressed tears): But she wasn’t supposed to be like that.
(Mrs Hudson looks across to Mary in shock. Mary lowers her head.)
JOHN (to Sherlock, pointing again across the room, his voice a little stronger): Why is she like that?
(Sherlock looks away towards the sofa wall for several seconds and then turns to look directly into John’s eyes.)
SHERLOCK: Because you chose her.

I like that set of lines as well and even though Molly, as least for the most part if not completely, has a better understanding she's kind of like John.  She likes the danger as well.

I found a Moliarty fanfic that had her and Jim as siblings putting on a facade as to who they actually were and she turned out to be almost as dark as he was and she was still falling for Sherlock.  It was interesting.

Damn... this Soulmates Video was so lovely (and well made)

The way to get teary on the saturday morning

I still get so damn sentimental about the show - I'm starting to hate it.

Watched the "Irrelevant" video. Dang, scenes from this show look so good in black and white it's almost scary.

Learning to make gif-movies: the moment just before the thank-you-kiss. You can see how Molly's knees give in.

Ah, well...

Weak in the knees definitely... withering under his eye sex stare.

Do all movies are like that? I mean if you look close enough, will you  find such fine nuances in every good film out there?

I'm quite sure.

He has such gentleness and kindness in his eyes towards her.  He's so genuine and dare I say - NORMAL - in his behavior.  No snarkiness, no put-downs.  He just told her she mattered the most.  He has complete respect for her.  To her, it's almost as good as saying, "I love you."  If only she hadn't been wearing the ring, things might have taken a different turn.  You can see it in her eyes...What's he about to do?  Is he going to try to kiss me?  She's just never seen him look at her like that and it's a little alarming.

This is too cute for words! He has four and a half years of constant put-downs, manipulation and not-so-gentle needling to make up for that if she was NOT besotted with him as she is, this would have been the perfect moment for her to grow some spine, slap him, retort with a cutting remark and MAYBE, just maybe, finally get his complete attention! He may be a high-functioning whatever, because sociopath is a term he applies to himself, it is not recognized in psychological disorders language, but once again she stays true to form and becomes his doormat! Irene's observation in Scandal about someone loving him and sparing his nose and mouth are definitely applicable in this case! Poor mousy Molly, your heart goes out to her, but she stands the chances of the proverbial snowball in hell in getting his full attention the way she seems to want. Subtext again?

Why on earth would she slap him right there?  That makes absolutely no sense.

Yes. But he was looking genuine and kind so many times - there is still a (little) part of me that cannot trust him.

A little? Can you imagine the reaction at a test screening? Wonder how many viewers fainted. :D

To pay back for his nasty behaviour in the past? But it is not like Molly.

Her brain probably shut down for few seconds.

Yes! I feel bad about it, but I have that same little part! :( He's still got to prove himself to me before I'll trust him with my Molly. Maybe I just have trust issues. (Who wouldn't, around this guy!)

No no, they have had a great day of bonding and for her to just haul off and slap him right there for no good reason is absurd.

If she had chosen to slap him at that point, I could certainly have understood why.  However, putting myself in her place as best I can, I can't see how it would have accomplished anything.  He's finally making what appears to be a genuine effort to express his appreciation, and with wild critters like him positive reinforcement is often far more effective than negative reinforcement.

Plus, they needed to part as friends so the slaps in HLV would have more weight.

Yes, he can't just be expecting her to slap him all the time in S3.

As much as he might deserve it. :P
