While the boys are doing their aggressive preliminary dominance gestures like circling each other and glaring, she just walks off, nicking a few souvenirs like Lestrade's NSY badge. :D

The things she can do with Lestrade's badge and Mycroft's access card...

Rory was definitely the oldest one... and how is this on the Molly thread?  LOL

Because we don't have a Rory thread? :P

And something I wrote reminded me of Rory in Fortysomething (and I re-watched a clip of it on YouTube...was definitely remembering incorrectly.)  Who knows, maybe Molly would have gone for a Rory type before she met Sherlock.

Maybe each actor from SHERLOCK needs a subforum and under that a thread for each of their projects.

I have no idea who Rory is.  Until I went back and read, I thought maybe we were talking about Rory from Doctor Who.  lol

I'm guessing I probably would as well from what I've seen. So before Sherlock showed up in Molly's life would she have tried a Rory? (Trying very hard to un- :hijacked: this thread that was accidentally hijacked when I mentioned Rory many posts ago.).

I know, I tried to find an appropriate Molly-related video as a counterpoint to the above. But everything I found was so schmaltzy, I couldn't bring myselft subject us all to it .....

Deep down we all thank you more than likely.

I can see Molly trying a Rory type at least initially in her dating life. She might have realized that was not her type or ran into Sherlock and then realized someone like Rory would not have been it.

Oh, I don't know, depends on what it is about Sherlock that attracts her so much. If it's his looks and his brains, she'd probably be great with Rory. If it's his (lack of) manners that attracts her ... she needs counseling! :D

Maybe Molly likes Sherlock because he's at least as smart as she is, plus he's not turned off by what she does for a living.  Having seen a number of men tune out as soon as I said I taught math, I can only imagine the usual reaction to Molly's career!

I think Molly is just attracted to Sherlock because he's Sherlock. There's every reason to be attracted to him (looks, brains, charisma, the allure of the unattainable), and I have yet to meet a woman who is put off by an attractive male just because he acts like a jerk.

Interest-wise, I think Sherlock and Molly have a LOT in common.  After all, she has to be a detective in her line of work, and she's undoubtedly very good at it.  Neither flinches around a dead body.  Her knowledge of postmortem forensics is what saved him in his mind palace.

Well... actually, it was Sherlock's own knowledge of postmortem forensics. Molly in Sherlock's mind palace is a part of Sherlock's brain that talks in Molly's voice. Of course, for that voice to develop, he probably had to have a pretty high opinion of her expertise.

And one could argue that what really saved him in the end was his pure will to survive once he remembered he was needed by the people he had vowed to be there for. Isn't that why the episode is called "His Last Vow"? Because that's what saved him?

That's a good point, I've always thought of "the last vow" having to do more with why he murdered Magnussen, but it applies equally well here. Like his emotions, his last vow both saved him and almost destroyed him. Neat.

Poor Molly, she even heard him vow to make no more vows, and yet she still longs for him. (See what I did there? :D )

And now he can't be a sociopath. He can't even pretend to be a sociopath anymore. Sociopaths don't regret, but he does, he regrets.

As for poor Molly who'll probably always pine for Sherlock, I don't think she expected him to ever get married anyhow. Marriage is just so... ordinary.

Of course she heard him, but she doesn't entirely believe him and never will.  That's what unrequited love is all about.

You really think they'd make a good match, though? I think he'd rip her psyche to pieces, personally. Believe me, I've seen someone torn down by a guy like that, and it's ugly, ugly, ugly. The guy's not evil, it's just the way he is, and she can't handle him. He can even be lovable, sometimes. He'd be okay with someone who's ego is even more overweening than his, I think. (And no, slapping him is not the solution, as much as I itch to sometimes!)

At any rate, Molly would have to get a lot tougher and grow an awfully thick shell to survive someone like Sherlock, imo. And Sherlock would have to learn to shut the f--- up. It can happen, I suppose. But then they wouldn't be the Molly and Sherlock we love anymore, would they?

     This blood on my teeth

     is far beyond dry,

     and I've captured you once,

     but it wasn't quite right,

     so I'm telling you

that you'll be safe with me...

Uh huh.

Words, words, words!

I'm so sick of words

I get words all day through

First from him, now from you

Is that all you blighters can do?

Don't talk of stars, burning above

If you're in love, show me!

Tell me no dreams, filled with desire

If you're on fire, show me!

.....

Sing me no song, read me no rhyme

Don't waste my time, show me!

Don't talk of June, don't talk of fall

Don't talk at all!

Show me!

Never do I ever want to hear another word

There isn't one, I haven't heard

Here we are together in what ought to be a dream

Say one more word and I'll scream

Haven't your arms, hungered for mine?

Please don't "expline", show me, show me!

Don't wait until wrinkles and lines

Pop out all over my brow, show me now!

My Fair Lady, Show Me

:P

By the way, the guy she was singing too was played by none other than a very young and adorable Jeremy Brett! Oh, and Professor Higgins and Col. Pickering appear to be modelled after Holmes and Watson. Small world, eh?

This is sort of my view on the matter as well. But you never know. Remember: With Sherlock, it's always the unexpected.

True, true, and the romantic in me would love to see Molly come out the big winner .....
