Apparently some extra crew were hired for a build on soundstage.  The built a cave.

Link? Maybe it's a pirate hideout on that island!

Hmmmm... Learning that the guy who played Chris Finch on The Office will show up has left me wishing they would hire the lady who played Dawn too, some day. She was really good.

A cave, huh? Maybe we will get a flashback of little Sherlock playing pirate. Wonder how that will tie in the story overall.

Dear TOBY, a cave is where the Duke of Holderness's legitimate son was being sequestered by his illegitimate half brother. And the Duke could live in such a castle as where they have been filming. Should add The Case of the Priory School in my list of probabilities.

Geez, the locations have been stunning for this episode. I don't even care if there is a plot if I get to look at that scenery.

Well, I do believe they had a little more money to play with after the theatrical success of TAB.

Wasn't it a cave only in the Brett adaptation?  I seem to recall noticing that they'd changed that detail, and thinking that the "disused sweets factory" scene in "Reichenbach" was pretty clearly based on the Brett version.

Well, both the cow horseshoes and mention of the underground cavern are in the original story. The Granada version made the boy's retrieval a bit more dramatic. And a girl of that age comes right out of Thor Bridge or Wisteria Lodge.

This interview is 2 years old but is worth revisiting.

Apparently Andrew Scott was scene filming with Loo and Benedict today. Speculation as to whether or not it's a mind palace scene

On my phone so not going to attempt to copy and paste the tweets.

Seriously, out of the 56 stories and four novels, we are still stuck with flipping James Moriarty? It's getting a bit stale as a joke, and hoary, too!

I have a few theories about this reappearance of Moriarty because after all, he is dead.

1.  It's a flashback to his "empire."  I think S4 may have a lot of flashbacks and explaining.  We already know we're getting a very young Sherlock.

2.  It's a mind palace scene - although I doubt that as Sherlock sort of deals with the "virus in the data" in TAB - with the caveat that he's high at the time, of course.

3.  It's a red herring.  However, it's an expensive red herring, so I still prefer #1.

4.  They have separated James Moriarty from Professor Moriarty and who we are seeing is the professor.  "It is never twins, Watson!"  may in fact come back into play.

I believe it is Anderson who said Molly did Moriarty's autopsy, but as Anderson had already been sacked by NSY at that point and was into his own theories on how Sherlock could have survived, that may only be an assumption on his part.  If, however, Molly did in fact do the autopsy, there is no reason at all to believe that THAT Moriarty is alive (and why Sherlock would ever question it in the first place in his mind palace is odd), because surely she would have communicated that information with him or Mycroft would have.

So, my strongest theory is #1 with the second being #4.
