Oh, Coronet Blue, I remember my whole family being riveted by that one. (Showing our age there, Carol. ;))

Never even heard of Struck by Lightning, sounds a hoot! Semi-retired from what?

Did you see that someone posted the intended resolution of CB online a while back?  It actually made sense!

The monster was semi-retired from monstering, I guess.  He was working as a household handyman, with duties that included "murdering chickens for the soup."  I just love Jack Elam in "lovable monster" roles!

Y'know, I did see that. Although I've completely forgotten what it was. In fact, I've completely forgotten what the show was about. The only thing I remember about it is that it involved amnesia and starred Frank Converse. Now you've got me curious....

Saw Atomic Blonde last night. Weirdly, despite being hyper violent, I was actually vaguely bored through most of it.

Here's an article about the trials and tribulations of getting (most of) Coronet Blue on the air, which includes a very brief account of the intended ending, and here's a somewhat longer account of the ending.

Also, I just noticed that the series (including two episodes never aired on CBS) is now available on DVD.  According to the reviews, the quality is very good, except that (true to its era) there is of course no closed captioning.  The price does seem a bit steep, but I suppose it's realistic for a 50-year-old cult show.

Cool. I've read the first one (who knew?) but hadn't seen the 2nd. Thanks!

Oh wow, now that I read that, I remember it! I feel a bit like Anderson; now that I know, I'm a bit disappointed. Maybe it's just as well the ending was never filmed, that's part of the mystique.

I think the mystery was part of the appeal to me for a long time. If they'd filmed and aired that ending, I think I would have liked it well enough, but that would have been that. Keeping it more-or-less secret certainly helped create the mystique. But 50 years is about long enough, I think!

Watched American Made. 7/10

Quite entertaining. Fast pace.

How close/how far it is to the actual person I'm not sure. Nowadays I'm very skeptical with base on true story although Dunkirk helps.

Eyup, does anyone have any recommendations for a good 'chuck on in the background' film? I've finally got around to doing the mega clean my house has been needing for ages and normally I'd put on music, but I'm sick to death of all my music. What's a good film (or TV series) to throw on in the background that is entertaining but you don't need to concentrate on to enjoy? Documentaries are cool too, I'm always looking for good new documentaries.

Old musicals? Since they all have basically the same plot. Not Fred Astaire, though; I always have to watch when he dances.

I'm not much of one for old films.

I ended up watching the art appendices from the Desolation of Smaug. The artwork always amazes, inspires and depresses me. ;)

I thought the point was to have it on in the background, not watch it!

I drifted closer to look every now and then, the rest of the time I listened. I don't know who plays Smaug but he has a lovely voice. ;)

Aha. There was a method to your madness, I see. Hear. Whatever.

Oh, you are after Kathy Bates! :D

Those two performances alone are sooo impressive. She is such a phenomenal actress and it's a shame she didn't even get nominated for Dolores Clairborne... but lucky she won Misery.

After watching the documentary in class and seeing actual footage of the event, i wanted to finally watch this movie plus it had been on my watch list for too long anyway.

127 hours - 8/10

If I would have to describe this movie with one word, it'd probably be "Experience". It's not just a movie, it's an experience and the knowledge that the events actually took place, that this isn't even just based on something but is the actual true story of Aron having to amputate his arm in order to survive, makes this movie hard to watch for some people.

Great performance by Mr. Franco and great directing by Mr. Boyle.
