I suspect Euros deliberately misses John, after all she would want to torment Sherlock more by having John as collateral rather than just kill him out of the blue like that. I wonder if her hatred is directed mostly at Mycroft rather than Sherlock (I'm still convinced she's Sherlock's twin, there have been too many 'it's never twin' comments). If there are two little kids in that flashback the second one is definitely not Mycroft.

I'm also wondering about Sherlock's parents- if they did send her away, surely there cannot be any love lost there? I would suspect they are very much in danger. And how in the world could Mycroft not know about her being free? Surely he does some very rigourous checking. Eurus seems a bit unhinged, but unlikely to have the powerful connections needed to hide her escape from Mycroft's watchful eye. So who is pulling the strings now, with Moriarty gone?

The difference between the rule of three or four, and people not looking anymore, or course makes you wonder are there only three siblings, but at the same time that seems way too obvious. That rule it worked well for Sherlock in TRF too- Moriarty only picked three of his friends, and Molly was the unknown fourth. Whatever is coming I hope Sherlock has one last trick up his sleeve.

I still think she did something terrible to Redbeard.

This being the likely case maybe Toby should watch his back.

The way Sislock says 'he' and 'him' I suspect she is talking about a govt spook hidden in the yard watching/protecting all of Sherlock's friends - esp John. Since it's possible she's about to kidnap John she would have to get that person out of the way first. So she shoots him - not John.

Even if Sherlock was smart enough to predict all of John's actions and was able to plant a bug in his cane, there's still something that's difficult to explain: how did the bug turn on at the right moment to record Culvertion?

The bug needs to be turned on in order to start recording audio. However IIRC Sherlock doesn't say anything about how he turned the bug on. He simply said that he planted a bug in the cane three weeks ago. Was the bug recording audio for three weeks straight? That's implausible.

Voice command? Mycroft activated it remotely? Timer?

Did I mention how much I love this episode? :) It's like Arcadia said; I've fallen in love with this show all over again.

Something in series 4 is missing, though:

I wonder if there will be more Molly. She was barely there so far.

If it's really the last episode ever, they definitely need to give her some kind of special final scene. If they don't, the series just can't be properly over.

Yep. The same goes for Greg!

I love Sherlock's evening with "Faith" and I think it's awfully scary at the same time (she had a gun, goddammit, was she considering putting a bullet in him before she left?). The romantic softie in me hopes that it will turn out just a teeny, weeny bit of their connection was real and that she was indeed surprised at how much "nicer" her brother had become.

It could be a very lovely bitter-sweet scene. Depending on what we learn about Sherlock and Euros next episode.

I think they were good friends as kids. Probably got along better than Sherlock and Mycroft.

I think you're right. If we watch the trailer for TFP, Sherlock seems to be very connected to his sister. Of course it's hard to say if it's in a good or a bad way, or a bit of both, but I think there is a bond there, which is probably why the scene with Sherlock and "Faith" kind of moves me - while also being scary, in a sense. I hope there will be some bitter-sweetness between them.

It is a lovely scene, seeing Sherlock connecting with someone like that, even when he is so messed up. I hope at least some of what 'Faith' said about him being nicer than expected and sweet was genuine rather than just part of the character she was playing.

Not sweet, just high lol.

Wanted to add though, that I do think she was sincere in that scene about him being nicer...she seemed genuinely surprised.  It's touching in retrospect, now knowing the full context for it.

Ill judged forth series? It was just one bad episode! Also, ACD said that if he was know 100 years later as the guy who wrote Sherlock, that he would consider his life a failure or something. So I doubt he will be harrumphing.

Thank you! I love those nerdwriter videos anyway, but this was awesome. Visually, TLD is a feast from one end to the other. Just watched it again and it is simply magical.

This is interesting idea.

That's a neat theory, but I really don't think there's going to be four of them. Too much to cram into one episode. Although I like the theory that's there's a secret fourth episode! Like it, but don't believe it.

At any rate, I think the violin is simply a metaphor for Sherlock. He's being drawn to the snapping point.

Isn't it amazing what people do with the material?

The fandom's collective brainpower could solve real cases in seconds. :P

As for the article I think that surprisingly they have some valid points.

We might be a little bit biased because it's our beloved show, so we are willing to forgive faults. Plus we look at the show as a kind of puzzle, which is not everyone's POV.

I was just reminded of the title "The Sign of Four". Still ... an awful lot to cram into one episode...... we already have both Eurus and Moriarty.

I wonder if this episode will be longer ... I note PBS has left a two-hour time slot for it. I just assumed that meant there would be a "making of" video after, but that's apparently what the extra footage in the theaters is going to be.

What are you up to, Moftiss?

ETA: Okay, I have to take that back ... they did have it on the schedule from 7 to 9. But now they list 7:30 to 9. :wtf:

Moftiss and PBS are in on it together to mess with your mind. They're gas lighting you.

I wouldn't be surprised. Look what the Sherlock prop department got up to this time.... http://gosherlocked.tumblr.com/post/155666986121/gosherlocked-doomsteady-isitandwonder

I did wonder why there was a flying car in the background of one of the shots.

This is making rounds already. There is an outside picture of the wing and the date is clearly 20 July 2014.

I bet on it being a typo. I've built worse mistakes into my work.

We - the graphic "workers" tend to turn blind to the contents of what we are putting together, concentrated on how text looks like and not what it says.  Especially when we are in hurry. :D

Do you mean the black thing flying outside of the therapist's room? That's a trash bin.

And as someone else pointed out, it could say "2011". Although that wasn't a Thursday either.

Oh, of course. How silly of us. :P

By the way, did anyone else notice Wiggin's remark? "Is 'cup of tea' code? Because you might prefer some 'coffee'."  :D

Yep! He's a bad one ;)  This episode made me like him less, just for him "supporting" Sherlock's drug use, even though I know it was part of Sherlock's plan to save John. I love Sherlock for his dedication to his friend, but it's still really difficult to watch him do this to himself. Not that I care if I like Wiggins or not :)

Yeah, I could do without Wiggins.

I did! I was like: they know about the tea code!

One of the things I love about Mary's role in this episode (there aren't that many) is the moment when she says, "Christ, John. Stay. Talk!" because it shows that John is having an inner battle with himself.

There's a little exchange in Baker St. that I'm wondering about:

John: "That's why we're all taking turns to keep you off the sweeties."

Sherlock: "I thought we were just hanging out." (Followed by a sort of sly or knowing smile)

What do you make of that? Is Sherlock trying to relieve the tension by making a joke? Trying to get John to talk? Or am I reading too much into it? :)
