Nope. No a/c in our summer cottage. But there's a cool breeze on the porch, so that's where we're hiding. Actually, today was not nearly as bad as they said it would be, we never got the mugginess the rest of y'all are getting. Just had a very violent storm though, if that makes you feel better.

I just hope this misery is over before I go back to Virginia.....

I am confused, remembering my struggle with twitter, I don't want to see wrong things again, so I better ask.

Is it Khal Drogo you are referring to, or Ben? :p

:O I thought she meant the Ian McKellen post.

Apparently Tumble is like Twitter, and the items keep rearranging themselves. I'm not seeing it now. Wish I could remember what it was. Sorry!

Is everyone else in the US hiding in their houses from the heatwave this weekend? My goal is to not go outside at all, except to get the mail and maybe take out trash and recycling.

I spent a chunk of my Thursday in my car (Toyota Prius) running the AC just to stay cool. Friday was lots of water & 32oz of lemonade. Saturday was mostly in the car because of storms. I think Minnesota is past the worst of the current heatwave.

It's supposed to be noticeably cooler here today (high in the mid-80's and heat index below 100!), so yeah, Camper, you should be well past the heatwave now. Hang in there, Arcadia, cooler temps should be coming your way!

Yesterday we had mid-80's.  Saturday was kind of mid-80's when the sun peeked out a few times before the rain finally cleared.  And it looks like we're staying in the 80's for the next week.  I think I'm just about ready for some snow.

But then you will complain about the snow and the cold... :p

Only if it's -20F or colder.  Also that's why I said "just about ready" instead of definitely ready.  The definitely ready will happen around Dec. 1 as I like white Christmases not brown ones.

I'm OK with a brown Christmas as long as the leaves have fallen off the trees.  Christmas in Southern California was kinda weird.  Alex and I used to wait till after dark before going out to admire the holiday decorations.  That way, it wasn't so obvious that those pretty colored lights were hanging on palm trees....

I live in a state where I have a 65% chance of a white Christmas (1/2 inch or more of snow at the time the official measurement is taken).  I don't remember a brown Christmas before 1999, but that more likely me not paying attention as a kid than anything else.  I think last year was also brown :(

I've often said I see no point to having winter if it doesn't snow. Why suffer through the cold and the dark if you don't get something pretty out of it?

Horrible muggy heat this morning, but a breeze has sprung up so looks like a decent afternoon ahead. Strange smell coming off the bay, tho, I suspect it's dead sea life rotting in the hot sun. Urgh.

Last night I heard on the news it felt like 105 in Wash DC. A friend was complaining about it being 80 in the house even though her a/c was going full tilt. People are being advised to stay indoors. So on the whole, I'm glad I'm in Maine smelling dead fish.

My sister was telling me about having the AC set to 67/68 last week while I was in a tent just to keep our upstairs in the 70s. I watched dew form on my car windows while running the AC keeping myself cool last week. Thankful for my Prius.

As they say, it ain't the heat, it's the humuggity!

It was very humid.  Not quite instant clammy hands (had that once before about 21 years ago) but bad enough.

I don't do Facebook "friends" (because if I ever got started, I wouldn't know where to draw the line). This morning I got one of those "do you know" messages from them, regarding one of my real-life friends -- who died last year. Don't think she'd be likely to respond to a friend request even if I was into that sort of thing. *sigh*

I am not even on facebook. And I really can't stand it when people tell me this is not okay. Ideal friend test: "but if you're not on facebook, how do you expect me to keep in touch with you?" Not at all. Thank you very much. Good bye.

Apparently, people "keep in touch" nowadays by posting their news on their Facebook page, whereupon their "friends" receive a copy. Or something like that.

Stop me if I've posted this before, but I'm the keeper of the address list for my high-school class, so I also keep an eye on our Classmates.com page. One day I noticed an unfamiliar name there, so I facebook-messaged her, asking if perhaps she'd accidentally registered under her married name, or if she'd actually attended a school with the same name, but in a different state. The latter turned out to be the case. She thanked me for pointing it out, changed her Classmates registration -- and sent me a Facebook friend request. This woman was a complete stranger to me!

Maybe one of her apps did it for her? Or maybe you're just that likeable!

You meant to say "loveable," didn't you? But I think this was before apps -- I was still using my first desktop.
