During the socialist period, Russian was mandatory in Hungarian schools and universities. I've learned Russian in primary and secondary school, but I never used in real life so I can barely ask for a glass of water... I remember some of the words, that's all. ^_^

Hello I am new to this forum, and to forums in general :)

I am from a small(ish) city called Leicester in England, and before you all marvel at the fact there are two fans here from the same said small city, I should confess that I do actually know Liselle in person,we are quite good friends in fact, and it's down to her that I am here, so hello fellow Sherlock fans :)

Hello, ToniLianne -- welcome to Sherlock Forum!  :welcome:  We're glad that Liselle told you about the forum, and extra glad that you've joined.  Hope you have fun here!

Well, at least you won't have to tell us how to say Leicester -- Liselle's already informed us that it's pronounced like "Lester."  ;)

Greetings and welcome to the Forum, ToniLianne!

It's wonderful when friends encourage friends to drop in and join our Sherlockian family.

I'm from Denmark, and excited to join this forum today! I watched 'Sherlock' for the first time only 5 months ago after having heard about it in interviews with Martin Freeman (I'm a LOTR fan as well, so naturally I've watched The Hobbit - and thereby heard of Sherlock).

As pretty much everyone else, I immediately got hooked on this show :)

Hello, sherlockandjohn -- welcome to Sherlock Forum!   :welcome:

You're certainly not alone here in being a LotR and Hobbit fan (you may already have seen the Hobbit thread).  My experience is kind of the reverse of yours -- I first saw Martin Freeman three years ago in Sherlock, and then was thrilled to hear that he'd been cast as Bilbo, my favorite character in one of my favorite books (and of course I have not been disappointed!).

Germany. Which means that I will not be able to see season 3 before it is available on DVD and I can import it from the UK. If we get it at all on public television, it will be late and dubbed. Dubbed! Can you guys imagine having to watch Sherlock without hearing Benedict Cumberbatch's voice?

You also can't watch anything on the BBC's website from here. Complain, complain.

You can order the original DVDs from amazon.uk though, and the German edition of the DVDs has both English and German sound tracks, though having the German floats ("Falsch") is distracting to say the least.

Where in Germany do you hail from, if I may ask? We're planning an International Empty Hearse Streaming Party in Vienna :).

I live in the north. The far north. Oh wow, an Empty Hearse Streaming Party sounds wonderful. Am envious already. But chances are good that I will be working when it airs. Will just have to wait for the DVDs (from Britain, because German floats with English audio are intolerable!).

I can. I watched Sherlock dubbed in Czech. Sherlock's voice wasn't that bad. Watson was much worse. It annoyed me that their voices were very similar to each other, so it was quite hard to tell which one was speaking. But of course I will always prefer the English version. Not just for Benedict's voice.

Oh, then Vienna is probably too far away to join us, what a pity :(.

e.t.a; That was in response to T.o.b.y, didn't notice Janie posting in the meantime.

I'm afraid so... But I'll survive the wait like I did with series 2 and I'm sure somebody will be kind enough to tell me in the meantime how the hell Sherlock survived and what Mary is like and whether John really punches Sherlock in the face (I hope he does) and everything else I'm dying to know.

Never fear. As soon as the first episode in Britain, the place will all a buzz with updates, pictures and cool stuff like that.

What the heck is a German float?    (I'm assuming it's not a stein of beer with scoops of ice cream added.)

If you can't watch S3 as it airs in the UK, T.o.b.y., at least you've got lots of company around the world.  And you'll probably get your DVD from the UK well before I get mine (usually takes about ten days, I think).

Dumb expression, couldn't find any better. I meant the bits of writing that show up on screen when Sherlock notices things about people and makes his deductions. If you buy the DVD in Germany, you can set the audio to "English", but the German words remain. That's why I want mine to come from the UK.

I'm joining you guys from the Palmetto-and-Crescent-Moon state, otherwise known as South Carolina.  :P I'll get around to updating my location in my profile, I'm still playing around with all the settings!

I also want John to punch him in the face, and after that I want him to grab him up in a big hug. And all the while, Sherlock should be wailing "My face!" and making that cry-face he made at Irene Adler's peep hole when he was pretending to be the mugged priest.  :sherlock:

Hello, my Dears! I am from Michigan, USA. We are called Michiganders or Wolverines. We actually have Wolverines in this State. Michigan is on the North side of the MidWest and is shaped like a mitten. Everyone in Michigan puts their hand up to show you were they live. I'm in the palm of the mitten. We have a upper peninsula also. (You have to turn your mitten hand sideways to show the UP.) Michigan is famous for cherries, cars, Kirkland Warblers and Looooooog Winters.

And Jack McMurdo AKA Jack Douglas spent some time working in the lumber camps of Northern Michigan.(The Valley of Fear)

Oh I know where it is. It's south east of Germany isn't it? :welcome: Well welcome to the Sherlock Forum  :) I'm new myself.

Of course I know where Austria is. We are actually neighbours :) Welcome to the forum, Petra  ;)

It so happens I know where Austria is  - willkommen an Bord!

Where are you from exactly, if I may ask?

I am from Michigan, USA.

Haven't heard from you for a few days, M. -- hope you're not one of the many Michiganders without electricity right now.

I am from Austria (not Australia ^^)

I'm not if everyone of you knows it. The state is very small.

Yes, I know more or less where Austria is -- Caya has been educating us!  Also, two of my great-grandparents were (probably) from Austria.  Anyhow, welcome to Sherlock Forum!  :welcome:
