Ravenclaw at Pottermore, Slytherin at Playbuzz, which questions almost the same with Pottermore but longer (or maybe it cobbled all the questions together). Slytherclaw or Ravenrin.  :D

Sorry to spoil the fun, but I just have to share that. It puts a whole new light on Robin Williams' suicide.
Someone of you asked recently if there are things worse than death. IMO this is one of them:

From my limited knowledge (didn't read last two books) Slyterin has negative reputation? At least that is what indicated in first few books, if I remember correctly. And someone mentioned ambitious? But I am not ambitious at all.

I do associate Sly with no BS, not sure when I get it from.

Slytherin absolutely has a negative reputation thanks to Rowling putting almost all the bad guys in there. It wasn't until the 6th book that we got a character in Slytherin that wasn't EVIL!

I had to sign up again, because I had signed up on their original website, and they couldn't retrieve my forgotten password and email it to me. OK, so did that, and they started the patronus test, but then I couldn't get any of my responses to register. I thought they said to drag my choice somewhere, but apparently I don't know how to drag on a cellphone. Either that, or I misread the directions. Help?

Please don't do the test on your cell phone, do it on your computer. You don't need to drag, you need to click one of the three options.

WHY? Why did you have to share that? Are you secretly Dolores Umbridge or something? I was already devastated that he took his own life because someone of my own family had attempted the same thing. (Don't make me talk about it, it was the most awful period in my life.) THEN it was revealed that he had parkinson, and I was a complete mess because my great-great aunt died from it. Now he has LBD? Oh, God I can't. Poor Robin *gross sobbing*

Thanks, I may give it another try later. I did try clicking, though, and everything else I could think of. (I even tried swearing at the screen, which usually works like a charm.).

My main beef with this quiz is the way they rush you along. As I recall, they didn't even give me a proper chance to read the directions before moving automatically along to the first question. Then they tried to force me to rush through the questions. Hey, guys, I get it that I'm supposed to go with my first inclination, rather than trying to be rational. But I need to go at my own pace, regardless. I'm no good at rushing. (Which is why I finally learned to just ignore the deadlines at work -- I got done a lot faster that way.)

As for Slytherin, I believe Hagrid said he couldn't recall a baddie who hadn't been in Slytherin -- but that's not at all the same as saying all Slytherins are bad (any more than saying all fathers are men is the same as saying all men are fathers).

And ambition comes in many forms. I suspect what it boils down to is a determination to get one's own way.

That's more of a statement about Hagrid's bad memory than about Slytherin, though. Just for instance, whether he still believes at that point that Sirius Black betrayed the Potters or whether he suspects Peter Pettigrew already, doesn't matter, as both were in Gryffindor.

Good counterexample. Pettigrew was just about the lowest of the low -- the sort of scoundrel who gives toads a bad name!

Do we have an opposite number, a goodie from Slytherin?

Here's the link for anyone who'd like to try it. You have to register to use it. https://my.pottermore.com/patronus

There was one question I think I'd have answered differently if I hadn't been feeling so damn pressured, but I got a bay stallion. (Was hoping for a cat or a bird, but horses are neat too.)

Yay! I took the Pottermore house quiz again (after being forced to re-register, as mentioned above), and this time I did NOT get Gryffindore.

No surprise, I got Hufflepuff, just as on all the other quizzes. Must say, I *love* the picture of the Hufflepuff common room -- very homey. Oh, and I'd forgotten that one of my favorite characters, Tonks, was a Hufflepuff.

So that settles it -- I'm a Hufflepuff and proud to be one! Now, does anyone want a Ravenclaw T-shirt?

Using the link Shadow provided, I got Ravenclaw. I always liked that name the best.

I thought the question was "what's worse than murder?", but I might be thinking of a different question. At any rate, I still feel the loss of Robin Williams, but this at least gives a possible reason for his suicide. Life sure kicks us in the teeth sometimes. At least he's free of it now.

Gryffindor on Pottermore, Slytherin on Playbuzz. I think the Playbuzz one is more accurate :)

Pottermore does seem to lean heavily toward Gryffindore. Could you post a link to the Playbuzz quiz?

Thanks Pseud. But I'm confused, because right at the top of the page it says it's the "Pottermore version" of the quiz. So why would it be any different?

Anyway, some of those questions were weird. Right or left????

Posted

I tried the Pottermore with two different accounts and to my surprise I got mostly different questions from the first attempt. When I tried the one hosted in Playbuzz I encountered the same questions (from the first and second try at Pottermore) and new ones that I didn't get before. More questions, better accuracy? Perhaps but it is make sense to me.

It seemed longer than the one I took at pottermore

It is longer and I suspect it compiled all questions Pottermore give to its subscribers.

Has the debate over Sherlock's house happened yet? Ravenclaw, no doubt, imho but I know there's debate over whether it's Slytherin or not. ;)

No idea but I agree that he would fit in Ravenclaw better than Slytherin. He would suffer in the House of future politicians and business people (Mycroft belongs to the last category).

What are the common traits of the houses in brief?

Anyway, from the playbuzz link it seems different with what I tried last time, so I did it again and still got Ravenclaw.

So this is my Pottermore:

Playbuzz:

And below that there is actually a Hybrid Hogward House Quiz

Well...

I got Slytherpuff (sweet & friendly, but only till you leave the room). Are these folks kinda hung up on Slytherin?

They have a couple other quizzes that looked interesting, purporting to guess ones's age based on the books or movies one is familiar with. (You'll find links further down on the Hybrid Hogwarts page.) Both failed rather spectacularly in my case.

So... a Slytherpuff is basically a backstabber? *backs away slowly*

I remember taking the age one a while back and it was a dismal failure for me too.

I'm a Slytherclaw as well. I think asking you at the end basically which house you want is a cop out.

I thought so too as I was answering that one, though there is precedent in the Hat's querying of Harry. But I said Ravenclaw and they dubbed me a Slytherpuff (which I refuse to accept -- as you say, sounds even worse than plain Slytherin, who are at least *honest* about hating your guts).

Slytherclaw too. lol

Hm, I wonder if most people come out as Slytherclaw or whether it's just the folks on here...
