Jeeps, couldn't they have shown them over the 3 months?  Then I could have seen one in October!

Man, I was getting all excited for a second there... "The Cliffhangers!?!? I haven't heard of that one!" Then I looked it up. Oh.

Well, if BC gets the Commander of the British Empire, that would be one down from Mycroft always threatening Sherlock worth a knighthood for serving Queen and Country in both ACD and TGG! What a difference real life makes from fiction!

Everybody's source for the CBE item seems to be this article in The Sun (a British tabloid).  Radio Times is professional enough to put a question mark at the end.  At this point, I'd call it a rumor.

I absolutely hate the honours system and am totally against it.

But seeing as he's missed out on every single acting gong, which all should have had his name on them...I may possibly just accept it.

He's always been in line for an honour. He's that rich, establishment class after all.

He's well part of the system.

Proper posh.

It does seem to be circulating around the internet, doesn't it?

If it's true, what I'd like to know is....will he show up at the palace in a sheet? Or is that only when Mark Gatiss is the Queen?

Or will the Palace ask for that ashtray back?  LOL  I'm also wondering if it's just a rumor.  It wouldn't be the first time it was rumored. It does seem to have been picked up by lots of media outlets.  But as Magnussen said, "I don't have to prove it.  I just have to print it."

Seeing as they filmed the whole sequence of the sheet in Goldsmith's, the ashtray was "purloined" from the college, not the palace, or should we start the whole "chalice from the palace" and "the flagon with the dragon" all over again? :sherlock:

Why not start it over again?  A fill in place could work for the real one in a pinch so why not the real one ask for the piece from the fill in place to be returned? :)

If it's already all over the news, then it's not going to happen! Don't any of you remember how Rumpole's Head of Chambers had to keep the news of his imminent judgeship secret because if it were leaked, it would not occur? In that case, it lay with the Lord Chancellor, in this case, it lies with whoever is acting as Her Majesty's Secretary for awarding the Birthday Honours! If I were in Anderson's or Donovan's place, I would bet fifty to one against its materialising! And since the first leak was in The Sun, everyone should consider to what extent Mr Moffat based his Magnussen on Mr Murdoch, just wondering!

All the media outlets have picked up now as if it's the truth.

I believe that the actual recipients have been notified by now, so at least Mr. C. already knows whether it's for real or not.  And we apparently have to wait only until tomorrow to find out.

Apparently the official announcement will appear in The Gazette's Official Public Record website, linked to at the end of this page.

Wonderful! And to think that a past Bishop of Luçon is responsible for creating the first ever official Gazette to circulate government -censored news instead of the rag-tag gossip pamphlets of his day! Of course, Napoleon then took matters even further with Le Moniteur, not hesitating to let false news be published in a plain early propaganda attempt!

I was obviously wrong about the announcement being today (and wouldn't you know, I don't even recall where I read that).  According to the official Honours System website, the Birthday Honours are, logically enough, announced on the Queen's official birthday, which is, according to the Monarchy website, "a Saturday in June," and according to a number of other (less official but more specific) websites, is Saturday June 13th 2015.  So -- apparently this link will go live sometime tomorrow.

Boy oh boy it's still all over the news as if it's gospel...
