Benedict has been seen out and about pushing a pram.  I have seen the picture.  He doesn't look particularly pleased a being photographed.  The baby was not visible, of course.

Thanks for not posting the photo, then.  :)

I'd have to steal it from a hater site.

We will wait like well-behaved fans for an official photo. If there will be any. All babies look the same to me anyway, and I have seen plenty of them recently. Our division at work has an amazing achievements at producing children.

I wonder if there will be any official photos...

I'm not too impressed at the thought of an unsolicited one.

Stiill, Benedict can hardly be surprised...

Is :punch the nasty paparazzo in the face: a valid excuse for the overwhelmed new dad?

Amen to that.  They can skip the "official" photos as far as I'm concerned; save them for something in 25 years when its fun to try to match the adult to his baby picture.

Well, I'm a sucker for baby pictures, so if they do put one out (although they never put out an official wedding photo so an official baby photo may also never happen) I shall be delighted to see it.  I do suspect, however, that they have had some official photos taken, even if they are for private use only.

Another reason why I think I'm an alien: I totally lack any response to the baby schema. Might be allergic to babies - like Alf :D

And of course they have photos. As we all do - for the family and friends. And as even though we sometimes feel like being a kind of friends - we are not.

I adore babies and was honestly very excited about the birth and am keen to know the name...

Weddings on the other hand leave me more than cold, they irritate the life out of me!

I agree about weddings.  I avoid them.  Boring.  Sentimental.  But a proud new mama and papa with their newborn is always lovely.

@Cumberbatchweb has reported that apparently Van Gogh Painted with Words starring Benedict Cumberbatch to be released on DVD 26th October 2015

If you haven't seen it, it is still on Youtube in its entirety.

Imho, not alien! :)

I also don't get why we 'have to' match the parent's excitement either.

Would just stand there not knowing what to do, I'm not even capable to fake any kind of interest or excitement at all.

Called 'heartless' 'robot' (no alien yet) with multiple nagging questions of why?

Ditto.

I always leave wedding early.

It's a triumph for me, not something sad.

Clearly a bunch of introverts on THIS forum! :D I sympathize completely. I dread weddings, sooooo dull. Baby pictures ... zzzzzz. But kid's birthday parties ... awesome! So there's an upside to it all. (Cake! Games! What's not to love!)

Speak for yourselves! I love weddings, exactly like Mrs Hudson, I adore baptisms, having become godmother twice, and avoid children's parties like the Devil does incense or Holy Water, depending on your perception. All the young people running about in uncontrollable glee, sticky fingers, bumps and scrapes that have to be looked after and kissed well! No, thanks! :(

What's that triple emotie at the end of your post, Inge?  All I can tell (since to me it looks like a little box with a code inside) is that it's from some set of emoties that is not recognized by either this forum's software or my operating system.

Just a :(, my guess would be the Iphone's variant thereof, Carol.

As for kids, to each their own, I guess. Personally, I don't like weddings (got nothing against them in particular, just too many people at once) and I can't really stand small kids (weirdly, though, I get along just fine with teenagers, which I take it is fairly rare). But what really gets me about small kids are the uberparents. Oh dear. I get it that it's fascinating and special for you to have your own baby and I do try to feign polite interest in the nth picture of your unique and amazing child and in the many riveting stories of their exploits and doings, but there's such a thing as too much.

Uber grandparents are just as difficult to deal with on the pictures front.  Seriously... like I saw a pic of the kid last week.  Don't need to see her again this week.

I've checked further online, and it seems to be in something called Unicode -- sort of an expanded ASCII that so far is apparently used more on Apple products (such as iPhones) than elsewhere.  Lists I've found online say that particular code is called a pouting face, so I think you're right.

Inge, the reason I asked is that I was wanting to suggest a replacement from our forum's emoticon set.  Martina has already suggested :( and you might also want to consider :P and/or

While I realize that the forum emoties may not work on cell phones, my impression is that the great majority of forum members use a device that does support our emoties, so using them instead of the Unicode equivalents will enable more members to see what you're intending.  Also, systems that don't support Unicode render the emoties as numeric codes (not very informative), whereas even as codes, the forum's emoties are pretty understandable -- for example, the three emoties suggested above have these codes:

Dear Carol, Dear Caya, as moderators you definitely set the tone ! mine's an iPad,/macBook Air depending on my current task, and your forum emoticons do not cover the range of what one wants to express at any given moment, so sometimes I fall back on what I have available. Recently I wanted a set of fireworks, and before that a flame-spouting dragon, not available, either. Sorry!

Well, we've got a flame-spouter  :flame: and a dragon  :dragon:  -- maybe you could combine them?  ;)

I know what you mean about wanting emoties that aren't (yet) available in the forum set, but on the other hand, it hardly seems worthwhile to post an emotie that's visible to only Apple-based forum members.  It's roughly the equivalent of posting  :emotie:

Yeah, but the uncontrollable glee is the fun part! :D

Yes, to each their own.  I like specific babies and small children (which correlates with how well I like the parents), but I don't particularly care for a random ton of either of them, either in a party context or in photo form.  (Yeah, I got it; you procreated.  Good job.)

But I like teenagers, and I absolutely love college students!  I love "new adults" who are just starting to make their way in the world.  I could have an endless number of conversations on what you want your major to be, who your new girlfriend/boyfriend is, and the challenges of making your own decisions.  I could look at pictures of your new dorm room/apartment, your first architecture rendering for your studio project, your club fundraiser, or anything like that.  I love prom (formal dance) pictures and graduation pictures on Facebook, and I love when colleges start up in the fall and I get to see everyone start to live that part of their life.

So, everyone else can raise 'em up, then give them to me when they are about 16-18!
